Loved it! It’s very well-appointed and comfortable! Plenty of room for us to spread out including our doggos. Property owner welcomed us and invited us to use the trails on the property which were nicely maintained and beautiful. Can’t think of a thing we needed or wanted - highly recommend!
What an amazing home! Beautiful property perfect for anyone!! We enjoyed our vacation even more because of this wonderful property. Everything was provided.. we didn’t need a thing! Extremely comfy vibe… just lovely!!! The owner Barn is so friendly, sweet, & accommodating!! Thank you soooo much!
Barn was a great host and thought of everything that you need! Very clean and organized house! Nice setting in the middle of the woods! I would definitely recommend it and I also would stay there again!
This cabin exceeded all of our expectations! The check in process was a breeze, and the host, Barn, was fantastic. This location was the perfect size for our needs and it was extremely clean and had everything we needed. The sun porch at the back of the cabin was easily the favored spot by all of us. As a “work from anywhere” person, I appreciated the WiFi connection - super stable and fast enough for what I needed. We also appreciated that our dog was able to join us on this trip; there was plenty of room for him to run and play. Our trip was mostly rained out, but that just amplified the coziness of the cabin! I would recommend this location for anyone visiting the Traverse City area looking for more of a rustic/woodsy feel. We are already planning on returning for a future trip. :)
My brother and I just spent a week at the cabin and we enjoyed every minute of it. It's on a beautiful piece of land in a quiet wooded area -- but just a short drive to Fife Lake and other conveniences like a grocery store, gas station, bank, etc. Just the drive to the cabin down Vans Lane is a treat for anyone who loves a canopy of trees.
The Wi-Fi connection is strong and very reliable.
The tap water is drinkable and there's no long wait for hot water in the shower.
All of the beds are comfortable which isn't always the case when renting.
Parking was stress-free. No squeezing into a tiny driveway or playing musical cars to come and go.
The cabin has two porches: One in the front to sit on and take in the view, and one screened-in porch in the back. The back porch is great for dining or hanging out when the bugs start the bug you.
To keep warm there are several heaters including a pellet stove which Barn will help you with if neede.
There is an AC unit in the way but we didn't use it.
We also never had the chance to use the firepit, but it looked very appealing.
We brought our 16 year old daughter and a few of her friends for the weekend to celebrate her sweet 16. We had high hopes for better weather, but it's Michigan- so you never know what you're going to get! The place is very clean and Barn is a delight to communicate with. It is a little rustic, but it has a nice cabin charm to it. Nothing to complain about other than the rain!
We had a great 3 day holiday weekend staying in this cabin. It was very clean, quiet and exactly what we were looking for. We watched the deer from the porch while we drank our coffee. Proximity to the wineries, sleeping bear dunes and Traverse City was great. There are a couple of places to get food within 10 minutes as well as a little brewery. We will stay again.
Nice secluded cabin in the woods. House had everything needed for a week long stay. We enjoyed the rear screened in porch, outdoor grill and fire pit nightly, (firewood supplied a huge plus). We highly recommend for a nice getaway!!
Quiet and relaxing place and easy to access. We met the owner, Barn, a super nice person who was more than accomadating that the cabin met our needs. We had a great time.
We took two 18 year old video gamer boys for a quiet/rural retreat with close proximity to Traverse City. We all loved it. The host is delightfully hospitable and attentive, with great suggestions for activities. The boys played corn hole, built a campfire in the chimenea and especially enjoyed the dart board in the house. They commented that one of their highlights was getting to meet "Barn" the host. Us ladies enjoyed a walk around the property and the North country trail, commiserating around the fire, resting in the comfy beds, and creating memories in the kitchen that is well stocked with pots, pans, crock pots and blenders, and every tool you could want. Check in was easy, everything was immaculate and the space is filled with character! Everything you could possibly want in a stay is accounted for. We are looking forward to our next visit.
The place is small and rugged but the price and location was good for our needs. We filled the space with 6 adults. Barney was a very good host and the place was clean. My only complaint is that my husband and I are both allergic to pet dander. Despite the rule to not have pets in bed with them, we could tell that the last people who stayed there let their pet stay in bed with them as the blanket made us itch, eyes and nose water and the smell in the room and whole place was bad We were able to air it out after a few days and wash the blanket but it still bothered us.
I have nothing negative to say about our recent stay here! Went up for a girls wine tour trip and the location was exactly what we were looking for. The house was clean and perfectly set up for a fun time. Barn was nothing short of an amazing host. He was in communication with me from the start and made sure we had everything we needed. 10/10 would go back or recommend to others!
Our stay was fantastic. I have been looking for a while for a rental property that is close enough to an ORV/Motorcycle trail that my friends and I could simply ride out from the house without having to drive our trucks and trailers to a trail head down the road. This location is less than a mile from the Grand Traverse Motorcycle and MCCT trails. Another bonus was the proximity to Traverse City which allowed us to bring our significant others who don't ride on this trip.
The host goes above and beyond making sure everything is going how you want it, which really made this rental special.
The house was also great for our energetic dog, with lots of open yard for running and play.
The interior is simple and to the point, which was perfect for making breakfasts, playing cards an lounging before heading out on our daytime adventures.
We can't wait to start planning to the house next spring.
Cute clean cabin with wonderful screened porch and lots of area for dog to exercise
Cabin was very clean and cute. Loved screened in porch for evening relaxing without bugs. Nice area for the pup to get exercise. Host was very friendly. Would definitely stay again.
Our stay was great. Easy to navigate and communicate with the host. Clean and well stocked. Check in and check out was easy and smooth. The beds were comfy and the towels were great! The doors to the bedrooms were fairly thin so you heard noise from the living space but over all great place to stay!
The accommodations were as described EXCEPT there was no internet, which was essential for our group. Everything was comfortable, really clean, all necessities provided (although we left some double ply TP). Our main concern was that two of our family needed internet for work. The listing says there is WI-FI but when we arrived we were told that the connection has not been completed. And although a workaround was offered, the speed was inadequate and was not within the cabin. The cell service was effectively non-existent. We booked this cabin based on the fact that it promised WI-FI, and had we known, we would have passed on this cabin. Other than that, everything in the listing was accurate.
Great place tucked away. Quiet and relaxing. Host is a nice guy. Thanks again!!
It was a great place to get away thanks for the hospitality

About the host

After retiring from Chicago and operating many a business, as well as enjoying the tour boat world as a captain, I moved up to the180 degree changing lifestyle of the country. Always enjoy meeting people and look forward to helping more folks enjoy the peace and quiet that can be had alongside of the amenities the city has to offer.
Why they chose this property
I started looking for a place on a lake up here as I love fishing but a good friend said to me " if you get a house on a lake, you will never fish another lake"! This brought me to a forest home and a boat on a trailer. The rest is history---;-)
What makes this property unique
Far enough away from the towns and still close enough for it all---;-)
