Down East Stay

The property at Lighthouse Point is wonderful. The deck is a great place to just sit and enjoy the ocean in front of you. Loved (and used) the Welcome Book. Fully equipped kitchen also got lots of use cooking local seafood. We had a wonderful stay. It truly is a piece of paradise!

Beautiful stay in Maine

This house is incredible with everything you could need! Everything about the house was perfect and exactly as described! Our family loved the decor, house and of course the view! We loved (and used) the detailed binder that was left with any questions you could have about the house or where to go and what to do in the area! Thank you allowing us to use your perfect house! We’d love to visit next year again.

A Little Taste of Heaven

This was our second time staying at this location and we wouldn't hesitate to come back again. The house offers a private, secluded setting with ocean waves lapping along the shoreline right in the backyard. The owners and care taker keep the house immaculately clean and organized. The house is full of amenities (including a stocked kitchen) for a comfortable stay and is sweetly decorated with many pieces from local artists. There are fun decoration surprises through out the house. The welcome book is packed with suggestions and ideas for a fun filled week of activities and restaurants. Another plus is the town of Prospect harbor is quiet and peaceful.

Bliss on the Schoodic Penninsula!

Yes, it's a bit removed from the hustle and bustle of MDI, but that's what makes it so special! This house has EVERYTHING. Such gorgeous views, the sound of the waves, the beautiful windows, the perfectly outfitted kitchen. If you want a slice of Maine heaven within easy reach of MDI, this is it!

Absolutely loved everything about this property. Sally goes out of her way to make guests feel welcomed and we throughly enjoyed her detailed guidebook and recommendations in addition to her homemade Friendship bread! We will definitely be back…thanks so much for a perfect week in Maine :)

Unbelievable view!!

What a perfect place! The house was extremely comfortable and well equipped. Old quilts everywhere! And the view was spectacular! Beautiful huge granite rocks to sit on while watching the tide come in or out. Definitely will come back!

Peaceful and beautiful Maine vacation home

Lovely cottage and location, quiet, low-key, fun local hikes. The cottage is warm and welcoming, comfortable in every aspect, with thoughtful details. Well-equipped kitchen. Cozy inside, many books and puzzles, with a range of places to enjoy being outside--deck with grill, hammock, steps to the rocky shoreline. Owner very responsive. One of our favorite places!

Our favorite place

This place is beyond wonderful! We have been coming here every summer for the past few years and as soon as we get here all of our cares and worries are washed away, as we ease into relaxation and truly special days of reading on the magnificent porch overlooking the waves as they crash into the rocks. We love to walk down to the rocks and watch the water- throughout the day, the light on the water changes, as do the waves with the tide. It’s so relaxing! The house itself is so clean and cozy, with everything you could need or want and the hosts are awesome and responsive. We always appreciate the homemade bread and bottle of wine they leave for us! We have come to know the local area and have our favorite places to eat, love the library and other charming aspects of the area. Such a great location for access to the Schoodic Peninsula- a beautiful part of Acadia - and if you want to go to the main part it’s an easy drive. Now we start counting the days until our next visit….thank you Sally and Bob!!!

Lovely home with a dramatic waterfront view!

Over the last two years, we have enjoyed the beauty of the rugged coastline and the solitude of the Schoodic Peninsula. The house is inviting, comfortably decorated, and well-maintained. Plus the owners go above and beyond the expected in hospitality. We took advantage of the trails in Acadia National Park but local hikes offered equally dramatic views. We also found several restaurants nearby to get our fill of local lobster and seafood. We are already planning next year's trip!

Exceeded High Expectations

We spent a marvelous week at Lighthouse Point. The house is well-appointed and well-situated, so that you never need to leave if you so choose. We read, took long walks with the dog, and made occasional excursions. Highlights included the ferry between Winter Harbor to Bar Harbor (we saw seals, porpoises and bald eagles), exploring Bar Harbor itself, and the spectacular village of Corea, including the walk out along the causeway to Bar Island. We hope to go back soon!

A total escape

My husband and I had the most relaxing time here! The house is so special with so much interesting detail and thoughtful decor. We enjoyed sitting on the deck drinking coffee, walking down to the rocks to see boats go by and just relaxing. We had a great time exploring the local area as well and we can’t wait to come back! Very clean and comfortable and Sally was easy to reach for questions- She checked in with us to make sure everything was going OK. We really enjoyed the bottle of wine and cake that was left for us as well! Highly recommend!

Lovely home with a dramatic view!

We had a wonderful week in this home at Prospect Harbor! The interior was very comfortable and we especially enjoyed the picture windows that allowed us to get views of the water at all times. There was also a library of useful information that helped us plan our hiking, sightseeing, shopping, and eating in Acadia and vicinity. Owners were always responsive and generous in this hospitality. There is nothing that we would want or do differently! Lisa

Relaxing Getaway

My wife and I had such a great week at this wonderful property. The house was so warm and comfortable, we immediately felt right at home. Watching the sunrise while we had our coffee each morning on the rocks was amazing... not to mention the bald eagles, seals and lobster boats. What a treat! Sally could not have been nicer. The fresh flowers, delicious friendship bread and wine was unexpected and appreciated. We're so glad we chose to spend a week at this property. It was an unforgettable vacation!

Peaceful and serene with beautiful views and lots to do

We had a perfect family vacation at this house in August 2015. The house was laid out perfectly for a family of 5 and a dog. There were lots of books and games to keep the kids entertained during downtime. Our youngest son loved sleeping in the loft area. The deck overlooking the ocean was the perfect spot for morning coffee. We spent most of our time on the rocks soaking in the sunshine and watching the lobster boats. There is a sandy beach about 1 mile from the house, and we found a perfect lunch spot in the Corea village - Wharf Gallery and Grill. We did the 12 mile loop of Schoodic on bikes, which was amazing, and spent time at Acadia hiking and enjoying the sunset. While we didn't make it up Cadillac Mountain for the sunrise, we did manage to catch a sunrise at the house - it was worth the effort! I can't recommend this house highly enough. We have it bookmarked for our next visit to Maine!

Perfect Maine Stay- again and again!

This was our third summer staying in this lovely, peaceful house - and we will likely be back for summer number four! The first summer we came with our immediate family (two adults and two young children), and the second and third we shared the home and Maine with our parents. The home is always clean and ready for our arrival. We were again greeted by a bottle of wine and a delicious loaf of friendship bread. The home is decorated to reflect the surrounding nature, and each year we arrive to updates to the home and decor. We spent hours climbing on the rocks and watching soaring eagles. The sunrises and sunsets are stunning from the rocks and the perfect background for morning coffee or evening wine. This year we took advantage of the outside sitting area and built a fire for s'mores. The home is close to Schoodic for adventures and an easy, scenic drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia. We absolutely love this home, and it has helped us create cherished family memories! I can't think of a better place to enjoy Maine!

PERFECTION!!!!!!

This was our very first visit to Maine and it was simply outstanding. We were traveling with myself, my husband and our two sons (9 and 12 years old). The house was simply perfect, the boys had their privacy upstairs, the location was amazing and the view was exceptional!!! We loved just having morning coffee on the rocks and letting the boys explore the rocks. We loved the location of the house because it was "off the beaten path" it was about a 45 minute easy drive to Bar Harbor and you enjoy the less congestion and more "true" Maine environment. We hiked in Acadia, did the horse drawn carriage ride, whale watching tour, visited Quoddy Head, ME, relaxed at the house, went to antique stores. You have to go to Schoodic Point, it was amazing. We always like to try local restaurant on vacation and we found some wonderful spots, our favorites were: Fisherman's Galley (casual but wonderful food, we went here a few times), The Pickled Wrinkle (Bar type food, but might have been our favorite place) Bunker's Wharf was wonderful too!!!! You won't regret renting this house, it has everything you might need, quite and relaxing location, and easy to find. Sally was a peach to work with, everything was extremely smooth and easy.

Coastal Maine Perfection

We’ve stayed in a lot of vacation rentals in a lot of wonderful places over the years, and this has risen to the top as one of our favorites. There’s so much love and generational history in this house and property. It’s a fun, thoughtful home filled with original art, comfortable furniture, books, toys, interesting nooks and crannies, and of course, stunning views of the Schoodic shoreline and direct access to its rocks and tidal pools, which are teeming with curiosities. The kitchen is small but perfectly useful and well stocked. The bathrooms are updated and spotless. The bedrooms have comfy beds and room-darkening shades (which you’ll want for the 5:15am sunrise!…there’s a perfect viewing through the Oceanside windows). Modern conveniences are included like good Wi-Fi and an easy-to-use Roku tv. That is, if you ever stay inside…the house has easy access to many outdoor coastal experiences. We rode bikes into Prospect Harbor, around the Schoodic Peninsula (awesome), checked out the Schoodic Institute (very nice staff), and over to Winter Harbor for shopping and additional exploring. So much to do…we wish we had 5 more days! Both we and our 6-yr-old daughter were completely enchanted by this treasure of a home…every family deserves one of these. We have every intention of returning. ❤️

Perfect retreat to recharge your busy life!

We were a group of 4 women from the West looking forward to our first ever trip to Maine. The drive to the property took us down picturesque roads lined with trees showing off the most beautiful Fall colors. The secluded property was not hard to find. The home was warm and inviting. The views from the back were stunning. We explored the rocky beach just below and relaxed on the back deck where at night, the stars were endless. The house was beautiful and had everything we needed. The linens were top quality, and the beds were very comfortable. There was plenty of room. The owners gave us some great tips on where to hike and where to eat. They know the area well and their advice lead us to some hidden gems! We enjoyed hanging out with the locals at the Pickled Wrinkle. We hiked at Schoodic, Blueberry Mountain Trail, and Beech Mountain. The Fall colors were spectacular, and the variety and colors of the mushrooms we saw just blew us all away. We enjoyed an unseasonably warm afternoon kayaking off of Desert Island. This home was a perfect destination for anyone just needing to get away from the craziness of city life and enjoy the beauty of the Maine coast. I hope to go back again!

Best Maine Vacation Spot

This was like a home away from home with your own private coastline. You could easily stay at the house all week and wake up to the water lapping on the rocks and relax all day long or you could explore the Maine Coast Line. The house made you feel like you were in an Architectural Digest photo shoot with a quaint kitchen, spacious dining and living areas with vaulted ceilings, views of the water from the deck, and relaxing private bedroom locations for quiet time. For anyone that does not like stairs, this house has a comfortable main level bedroom and full bath. We all had fun walking on the rocks and being mesmerized by the water and sunrise views. The Coast Line offers State Parks with all levels of hiking and beautiful views; small unexpected eateries off the beaten path in addition to well know excellent faire locations; galleries, "rock farms", antique stores and other unique Maine finds. The Owners have a fantastic Welcome Book, Local Guide Books, and Maps near the Foyer for you to use during your stay. The fun part is also finding new locations too. The drive to Schoodic Peninsula, Bar Harbor, and Acadia National Park are all quick and easy to access. Bar Harbor is the largest town which offers Lighthouse Tours on a Boat, fantastic views, and a lot of shops & restuarants. Acadia had trails for all levels of hikers and educational areas for children. Schoodic Point is not to be missed for the views, sunrises, and sunsets. We stayed for one week, but we really would like to make it two weeks on our next trip to Maine. Since we found the perfect house and location, we would rent the same house again and definitely recommend it to all our friends.
