This ground floor condo offers easy access to the pool and bbq area, is close to parking and only a block and a half to town.

The condo has a full kitchen with range, oven dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator and the small appliances you will need. Perfect place to relax and be happy!

We love the ground floor unit and the pool area! It has been a wonderful place to base our day trips and a great place to just chill all day. I even saw 2 whales from the pool area yesterday! Easy to communicate w/host.

Gorgeous view. Property needs sone maintenance and better cleaning

Enjoyed staying here. View was wonderful. Unfortunately noisy AC, run down furniture, moldy/dirty bathroom and kitchen detracted from the great location. Felt something like a motel 6.

Kona Reef Oceanfront Condo

We had a great stay and thought the condo was lovely for the two of us. We sat each morning on the patio drinking coffee and enjoying the view. Loved the location. We walked into town and explored the sights. It was convenient to have on-site parking.

Great location on the shore!

This condo is fantastic! Right on the water! You can sit and watch the waves and the surfers from your lanai. Easy walk to small sand beach. Wonderful sunsets - even saw the green flash one night! Has everything you need for a great stay. Good sized kitchen with everything you need. Has all the essentials so you are not stressed. The delicious box of chocolates and coffee was a nice touch. Host easy to communicate with and easy to park and get in to unit. Would love to return!

Love the location!

Stayed here with my family (including a 15 year old and 11 year old). The futon was fine for them. We loved the location. Being able to walk to town was really nice for the day after a scuba night dive when we couldn't get too far from Kona. And the view of the sunset from the lanai is THE BEST! The kitchen had everything we needed.

Great Kona Condo

We enjoyed our stay at the Kona Reef. Great ground floor condo steps from the water. My son enjoyed the pool and the beach adjacent to the property. The only downside was that the BBQ grills did not work well. Otherwise a fantastic place to stay.

Great location

Great ground level waterfront unit. We loved sitting on the patio and watching the sun set each night. Great location- within walking distance of town. We had a bit of trouble with the internet and it was taken care of promptly. Unit was clean and had what we needed. The beach chairs and umbrella were nice to have. We appreciated the gift basket of cookies and chocolate. Thank you for sharing your place with us.

Walking distance to every restaurant in the area. Stunning ocean front views. On the free bus route! Only drawback we had was the bed. Way too soft/ sagging. My husband ended up sleeping on the couch one night and for the last two nights, we put the couch mattress on the main room floor that worked really well. Excellent sleeps after that. That said, we won’t hesitate to stay in this unit again I’m already trying to book for 2024. Great value from what I have seen

Almost 5 Stars, except furniture

Absolutely perfect location, beautiful view, good communication and easy parking. Unit was clean and well appointed with everything one might need in the kitchen. But if there were a rating for comfort I would give it 0 stars. The furniture (especially the bed) is very uncomfortable. In fact, the bed might be one of the worst I've ever slept on. The couch wasn't much better. Normally I wouldn't be so stingy with my stars, but this was my husband and my first vaction in 5 years and it sucked to not be able to sleep well or relax in comfort.

Deception

WE DID NOT STAY HERE!! The moment we walked in we noticed a very musky and moldy smell. The bed cover had multiple visible stains on top and a stain on the pillow. So disgusted we went to wash our hands and with more disgust we could not believe the rust on the toilet seat and the chalking around the sink and tub chipping apart. There was visible signs of paint chips off the wall and on the ground and cracks on multiple tiles on the floor. Now the kitchen had rust on the side of the stove and all appliances were old. The living area was dirty and curtains that were stained and hung up with plastic bag ties at the top. Window was stained and did not open and close properly. Phone had visible stains as well on it. We were with another couple and they had the unit next to ours and it was amazing inside. My wife was in tears and she called the manager which moved us to another unit at the back facing the roof of the BBQ area and partial pool view with partial ocean view ( we paid for Ocean Front ). However, it was not the greatest either but had to do at that moment. MY wife and her dream vacation had come to an end due to deception on advertising. This place should be shut down and renovated and not be rented anymore until then.

5 star ocean view, 2 star condo.

We were hesitant about booking this condo because of the lack of reviews but really wanted a ground floor unit for our almost 2 year old. Even though it's ground floor there is still a flight of stairs to walk down. We were definitely disappointed in the equipment provided. The umbrella was completely broken, and the chairs were old and weak. There was also only 2 beach towels in the condo for the 3 of us to use. We were provided 2 more towels upon request but felt we shouldn't of had to ask for towels. The condo was not very clean and could use a complete make over. We don't care about things being outdated but we felt everything was dirty and smelled bad so we washed all the bedding and towels before use. The couch smelled of urine. The bed is a queen size bed although in the listing it states it is a king and it was absolutely the worst thing we have ever slept on. We felt we were going to fall through to the floor. In fact, as a couple we both could not sleep on the bed at the same time due to it caving in on us and making so much noise. Definitely don't plan a romantic vacation in this condo as one of had to sleep on the couch the entire stay. Things were not convenient to use. I couldn't imagine someone who is not tech savvy attempting to connect to the internet since there were no instructions and you had to find the modem and type in the long password. The A/C is only in the living room which didn't cool the bedroom down but did a great job cooling the living room. We had issues with the sink leaking and the fan not working so people came out several times to fix it. The sliding glass door to the lani was extremely hard to open. I could not get it to open most of the time and even my boyfriend had issues with it. We are strong and in our early 30s. If my grandma booked this condo she would be unable to get outside. We have stayed in many condos in Hawaii and this was by far a disappointment. The best thing was the view of the ocean. It was absolutely amazing to see the waves crashing and the sunset from even inside the condo. The owner also did not warn us about the pool closing on our last 3 days of our stay which was a real bummer for our 2 year old. We are disappointed about leaving an expensive jacket behind which was completely our fault but when contacting the owner about getting it back we have still heard no response which is a bit frustrating. Overall, we enjoyed the area which was very close to shops/dining and the complex.

Overall, mostly good

We read the reviews before choosing and decided to book it. The place was clean, contra some reviews, though there was a slight musty smell, but it is a tropical environment. We didn't think the mustiness had anything to do with the condo care. The view was nice and ocean sound was what we wanted. The bamboo furniture was a bit uncomfortable, but we weren't there much, and the decor did look appropriate for the setting. The kitchen was great, clean, and had all the essential items. The biggest complaint was the lack of written information from the owner. We've never stayed in a place that didn't have a set of written instructions available upon entry. For example, there were keys, but they didn't work in the front door, and we didn't know what they were for. Also, we couldn't figure out how to turn the tv on with the remotes (2 didn't have batteries). Finally we got the tv turned on manually (though at first we weren't exactly sure how we'd done it) and we used the remote to change channels/volume. Also, we thought there was beach equipment available, but didn't find it until the last day when we saw it under the bed, would have been nice to use. A brief welcome note with some instructions would have solved all of these issues. Two other notes regarding prior reviews... The screen door is indeed damaged and does not slide well. I was afraid we would damage it further as it felt like we had to force it to move. Also, the bed may have a new mattress as the owner strongly states, but it is DEFINITELY sloped towards the middle. I suppose the culprit must be the underlying box spring. However, it was not so bad that one of us had to sleep on the couch. Though whenever I turned over, I would start to roll towards the middle. Finally, the worst issue was the sprinklers coming on at 4:19 a.m. each morning outside the bedroom window. The big issue was that it would hit the palm branches and make such a loud noise that the first time it happed we were jolted from sleep and thought a pipe had broken in the bathroom or kitchen. Now this isn't entirely the owner's fault, and I wouldn't mention it in a review, except for the fact that when we tried to close the window to reduce the noise, we couldn't because the window in the bedroom was broken and wouldn't close. That's definitely the owner's responsibility. So we had our own private, early alarm each morning. We mostly laughed about this one, though it would get old if we stayed much more than a few days.

Beautiful ocean front view!

We have stayed at this property before, and several others at the Kona Reef Resort. They are great floor plans, it’s a great resort. A home away from home with a gorgeous view! We love it!
