About this property

Secluded Mountain House on 5 Acres with Creek

Thank you for considering our mountain cabin, Serenity House Colorado. Before booking please read the ENTIRE description especially the “Things to Note” section. We look forward to hosting you and want you to have a peaceful memorable stay in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado!

THE PROPERTY: Serenity House Colorado is a secluded 3 bedroom 3 bath house located on 5 picturesque acres bordering public land with private access to Four Mile Creek. Sit on the wrap- around deck and enjoy a cup of coffee while taking in the view of rock formations and nearby mountains. Picnic by the stream or cozy up with your loved ones to watch a movie or play one of the many games provided. It's great for people who want to get away and recharge or people looking for a peaceful retreat within an hour of many Colorado attractions. (See location below)

DETAILED DESCRIPTION: Serenity House is located at the end of a 3.5 mile dirt road. On the first floor you will find a family room with TV and DVD player and sofa bed, a bedroom with a twin bed, and a bathroom with a shower. The main floor is located up a flight of stairs. There you can relax in the living room, cook a meal in the kitchen equipped with modern appliances, play a game around the dining room table, listen to records, or relax on the deck. This floor also has a bedroom with queen bed and an partially updated full bathroom. The large master bedroom is located on the 3rd floor. Get ready in the morning in the large master bath or take a nap in the king size bed.

THINGS TO NOTE:
•There is NO CELL SIGNAL at the cabin. We do have a landline for domestic calls. No international calling, please. Many carriers offer WiFi calling which means you can call and text as usual over Wifi and you can iMessage. However, if you are not comfortable with no cell signal then this is not the place for you.

•Internet service is provided by satellite. Speeds vary throughout the day and range from moderately fast to slow. Video streaming is unpredictable so we have provided a large selection of DVDS.

•One of the best features of the cabin is that it’s surrounded by nature. The 5 acre lot is mostly left wild. It’s part of the beauty. (If we cut all the wild grass it would turn brown and wouldn’t sway in the breeze.) Being surrounded by 1000s of acres (public lands) of nature, means there are bugs, lizards, and wildlife. We have seen fox, bear, skunk, and deer in the area. While the cabin is cleaned thoroughly between each reservation, you may still find unwanted “guests”. If spiders or bugs freak you out, then this is not the property for you. :-D

•The cabin is on a sensitive septic system. It is VERY IMPORTANT that only reasonable amounts toilet paper get flushed down the toilet in one flush. Please DO NOT flush anything (including “flushable” wipes) other than toilet paper down the toilet. In addition, scrape plates into the trash before rinsing them for the dishwasher. Do not put food down the garbage disposal. We thank you in advance for helping to keep our system in good working order!

•Plan and bring supplies with you. While there is a small convenience store, Evergreen Station, located within 15 minutes, the nearest large grocery is 40 minutes away in Woodland Park or Canon City.

•There is a path down to the creek but it is not paved. The path doesn’t require any special athletic abilities but be aware it’s a simple rustic dirt path with a few rock steps. Something to consider if mobility is an issue. Please watch out for cacti and rocks as well.

•The back of the lot borders public land but there are neighbors on each side. Their houses are hundreds of feet away and mostly hidden by trees. (See aerial photo.) Please do not cross the fence and go onto their property.

•The wood stove is not to be used during the summer months of June-August. Winter guests will be responsible for bringing their own wood or pellets.

•The cabin is a peaceful retreat from busy life. It is not set up for guests beyond the maximum occupancy of 8. Please be honest about the number of guests. If you plan to bring more people please make arrangements with us in advance and we will arrange for additional help with the cleaning and add the extra occupant fees to your booking. Parties, large social events, or photo/video shoots are prohibited unless officially arranged with the host.

•While we have done many updates to the cabin, please note that parts of the cabin are not “hotel-like”. It is a cozy space with character that you will enjoy if you love slowing down, getting away, and soaking in nature's beauty.

•As a courtesy, we provide a propane grill. We do our best to keep the propane tank filled, however, there is no guarantee that the propane will be filled. If you need propane it can be filled at the Evergreen Station about 15 minutes away. Please exercise caution and please turn off grill after each use and do not leave the grill unattended while lit. Cleaning the grill is not included in the cleaning fee. Please be considerate and clean it after use.

•There is not an AC but temperatures rarely get high enough in the mountains to need one. There are fans.

•Sleeping arrangements: There is a king bed, queen bed, twin bed, sofa bed, and two foldable mattresses best suited for younger children. There are extra blankets in each bedroom.

•We come up to the cabin between guests to keep up with maintenance. If there is anything that needs our attention please let us know so we can take care of it!

•You may notice the ground floor smalls different from the rest of the house as it is a basement.

LOCATION: Serenity House Colorado is located approximately an hour and 10 minutes from Colorado Springs and two hours and 15 minutes from Denver. Peaceful, beautiful, and comfortable!

Had a wonderful stay and enjoyed every bit of it! Peaceful serenity listening to the creek flowing by outside. This is the perfect getaway location. The bed was very comfortable, grill was ready to go, tons of board games to play, and the record player provided a nice vibe! Can wait to visit again!

Great place, just doesn't have a a hot tub.

I loved this place and Jenn + Brent were super nice and helpful with everything. My only complaint was that this place showed up on my search when I filtered by places that have a hot tub. It does not have a hot tub, but everything else about the place was great. There is an occasional bug, but you're out in the mountains so that should be expected. The property is beautiful and we loved sitting on the deck with coffee.

Highly recommended!

This was our first stay in Colorado and our goal was to find a place with a little wilderness mixed in. This was perfect. The house is great and very comfortable and the hosts are amazing! You will lose cell service 20 minutes or so from the house and the Internet can be slow on a cloudy night, but it was great not having work be able to get a hold of me!. It’s a beautiful property in a bit of a valley where you feel very secluded. I would recommend checking it out to anyone.

BEAUTIFUL PLACE, BUT IT KINDA BUGGED US.

IT IS A VERY NICE PROPERTY. WELL STOCKED AND FURNISHED WITH THE NECESSARY LIVING ITEMS. THE 2ND AND 3RD FLOORS WERE WONDERFUL. THE DECK HAD A GREAT VIEW. THE SURROUNDINGS WERE VERY RELAXING AND PLEASANT. THE PICTURE IS A LITTLE DECEPTIVE BECAUSE THE PROPERTY IS ONLY 5 ACRES, AND UNLESS YOU READ THE INFORMATION CAREFULLY, YOU MIGHT THINK YOU HAVE ACCESS TO THE WHOLE VALLEY. YOU DON'T. THE NEIGHBORS PRIVATE PROPERTY FENCES LIMIT YOU. THE STREAM IS BEAUTIFUL, BUT NOT WHAT I WOULD CLASSIFY AS A TROUT STREAM FOR FISHING OTHER THAN FOR CHILDREN. THE PROBLEM WE HAD WAS WITH THE FIRST FLOOR WHICH IS SUBTERRANEAN IN THE BACK HALF. IN THE DESCRIPTION IT SAID THERE MAY BE AN OCCASIONAL BUG. THAT MAY BE TRUE IN GENERAL, BUT DURING OUR STAY THE FIRST LEVEL HAD PLENTY OF BUGS THAT MY SON AND I BATTLED UNTIL IT BECAME UNPLEASANT. THE PROBLEM HAD TO DO WITH THE FACT THAT MANY OF THE SCREENS HAD HOLES AND DID NOT FIT TIGHTLY, THE SAME COULD BE SAID FOR THE SEAL AROUND THE FIRST-FLOOR DOORS. WE CONTACTED THE OWNERS AND AFTER A LENGTHY TEXTING DISCUSSION WE WERE OFFERED TO LEAVE A DAY EARLY AND GET REFUNDED FOR THAT TIME. IT WAS NICE OF THE OWNERS, BUT IT WAS A HASSLE HAVING TO PACK EVERYTHING AND MOVE TO ANOTHER LOCATION. I WOULD RATE THE PLACE OVERALL, ON OUR EXPERIENCE, A 4. IT SEEMS OTHER REVIEWERS HAD BETTER LUCK. MAYBE WE JUST HAD A UNIQUE PROBLEM. HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR THE BUGS WE WOULD HAVE RATED IT AS A 5.

AMAZING

This place will always have a special place in my heart. They were kind enough to let us use this property to host our wedding. The beds were absolutely amazing, the kitchen had everything we could have ever needed and they were quick to respond. We will definitely be back!

Amazing stay at Serenity House

The Serenity House is aptly named! It was beautiful, clean, and wonderfully stocked. I would recommend a stay here for anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle. The hosts were gracious, attentive, and caring. Good for a friends’ trip or a family! We definitely hope to stay here again. Thanks, Brent & Jenn.

Winter wonderland!

What a cozy home! We had one great day of weather, then the snow hit. I thought it was going to ruin the vacation, but we all ended up really enjoying the snow. It turned the property into a wonderland! Stunning views as you commute to and from the cabin! The kitchen is fully equipped for your stay, extra blankets, shampoo/conditioner/body wash all in the shower in a convenient pump station. Genius! The selections of games and books are great as are the puzzles! Jenn communicated extremely well whenever there was a question. Thank you for providing your space for us to make memories in! You won’t regret the stay!

Country mountain weekend

We loved staying at this house for the weekend. The decor is mid century modern meets southwest. The kitchen had all of the tools we needed. The owners were responsive to our questions. My husband loves music and enjoyed the record player. The kids were excited about the movie selection. I enjoyed the fast flowing creek right behind the property. Couldn’t see any neighbors once there. Got groceries at WalMart near Woodland Park before we got there. Love the Florissant area!

We were married in 1999 and have four children. We enjoy the simple things in life: good food, good people, pets, art, and nature. We love living in Colorado Springs and love heading up into the mountains even more. We are grateful you are considering staying at our place!

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with this property the moment we read the description and put in an offer sight unseen! There is so much we love about this property: the secluded location, the Aspens blowing in the wind, the views, the stars at night, the birds that frequent the property, the proximity to public land, and last but not least we LOVE listening to the trickle of Four Mile Creek. It's a special place and we hope you love it as much as we do.
