About this property

PET-FRIENDLY ENSUITE, SANTA FE. LOVELY VIEW, EASY DRIVE TO HISTORIC SITES, TOWN

This is a charming, colorful, artistically decorated room with its own modern bathroom that includes a roomy walk-in shower. Always sunny, the windows may be darkened with roll-down shades or you can let light filter gently through the drapes. The queen bed has a firm mattress, and wonderfully soft, Egyptian cotton bedding, with duvets, sheets and bedspreads adjusted seasonally. Bedside tables with lamps allow for luxurious reading in bed. There is plenty of storage for small items in the drawers of the bedside tables, while a large chest of drawers allows room for your folded clothes. A bedside charging unit accommodates up to 4 devices.

Half of the huge closet has shelves and hanging space for your clothes and personal items. The other half contains a "kitchenette" with a 'fridge, convection oven, hot water kettle, coffee maker and basic utensils for two.

Relax in the cozy armchair by the window, or enjoy the view outside from the carpeted terrace, where you may enjoy breakfast or a sundowner at the little table. Walk directly from the terrace onto the Green Belt, where you can walk for miles through typical Southwestern juniper alpine grasslands.

Enjoy high-speed wifi. If you need a small work table or desk, just let us know and we can provide.

This room is spacious, sunny and very comfortable. Adobe walls maintain pleasant temperatures year-round. A 10-foot long electric wall radiator with its own thermostat provides heat in winter. There is a mobile window A/C unit for summer.

For an extra fee of $25 per animal, you may bring up to two dogs. We provide a crate, an outdoor leash, water bowls and a mat. The Green Belt paths are perfect for long walks, but your dog(s) must be leashed. For an extra fee, we also offer services such as dog walking and feeding.

We are located just 2.5 miles from the Agora and La Tienda shopping centers with a supermarket, restaurants, pet store, gym, medical practice, hardware store, cafe, dog park, and other amenities. We recommend our local restaurants: Harry's Roadhouse, Cafe Fina, and Jambo Bobcat Bite.

In just 20mns you can be in downtown Santa Fe to enjoy the many museums, galleries, restaurants, and other attractions. We are just 10mns from the Galisteo Basin, perfect for hiking, biking and horse riding. It's an easy drive to interesting towns like Las Vegas, Cerillos, and Madrid. Major landmarks such as Tent Rocks at Cochiti Lake, Bandelier, Ghost Ranch, and Taos are within easy reach.

Our location outside of town provides easy, on-site parking. It's serene and quiet, with heavenly starlit nights and magical sunrises and sunsets.

It's the perfect place to unwind or use it as a working retreat for either a short or a longer stay (for longer stays we arrange kitchen and laundry use).. Get the best combination of "country" living and downtown culture!

I was born and raised in Kenya and have travelled the world. My husband Uli is German. We are globally oriented people who love to interact with our guests if we happen to meet, but we'll also respect your privacy. Sometimes, if there is instant synergy, we might invite you to join us for dinner or a glass of wine on the terrace - free of charge! Whatever your needs, we will do our very best to meet them.

PLEASE ENQUIRE ABOUT USE OF OFFICE CASITA IF NEEDED. Excellent work space with dedicated wifi.

Peaceful and Quiet, Amazing Views

The good: The views, the quiet location, room decor was really eclectic and reflects the global origins of the hosts. Good air flow from windows made for a peaceful night of sleeping. Host was accommodating. The not so good: I really do need a place with a kitchen, as I have deadly food allergies and am diabetic, and this says "kitchen," but that would be stretching it. Tiny toaster oven and fridge, and water kettle. No coffee maker (there was some sort of press thing but without instructions I didn't know how to use it). Also surprised to find no table at all, as this would seem to be pretty standard, and only one chair in a unit made for two people. The above are my opinion only and other guests may not find any issues at all, depending on what kind of travelers they are. This is a really pretty place, and I got some amazing photos of the sun setting over the mountains both nights.

Great location!

Perfect for our needs! Beautiful area, close to small shopping area. Clean, gorgeous views! We could take short walks from here or easily drive to Lamy (visiting friends there) or Santa Fe (for museums, restaurants). Casita had everything we needed — could easily have a nice breakfast before we headed out to hike or tour.

Conveniently located, close to Santa Fe but near convinces of groceries and places to eat. Loved the trails right from the door. Spent beautiful days in the Pecos area and Aspen Groves-both were colorful and peaceful!

Quiet stay

Location was quiet and isolated but close to old Sante Fe and restaurants. Kenny and her husband were very nice with good communication. Listing said there was laundry but it was not available for short stays. Listing should be changed to reflect that.

Perfect retreat

I came to this property for a two-day respite from caregiving and it was perfect for this. Because I did not leave the property from the time I checked in until the time I checked out, I was very happy with all of the amenities. There isn't a microwave but there is a little oven, plus French Press for coffee. There are some nice walking trails nearby that are very popular. Overall a wonderful stay. with the local Folk

Quiet hideaway

This is a cute complete hideaway in a quiet country setting. Easy access to Santa Fe but a quiet place to relax after a day of city touring. The hosts are very helpful and responsive to any questions or needs. Highly recommend it for a couple.

Lovely - Cozy - Calm

Our Hosts Kenny & Uli are friendly and welcoming. We very much liked staying in the Rafiki room. Everything we needed was thoughtfully available. It is a beautiful location and easy to get to & from Santa Fe and to points unknown. We hope to return to Santa Fe in cooler weather and would not hesitate to stay here again! All the Best!

Secluded yet convenient retreat

Comfortable and quaint. We enjoyed being away from town a short ways and not being able to see neighbors, while also having a grocery store and restaurants only minutes away. The mountain views and access to greenbelt and trails are a plus not often found in smaller rentals. Our hosts were gracious and welcoming while respecting our privacy. Excellent value. We hope to return.

Quiet, cozy, and just what we needed.

This property is a little bit out of the way from most things happening in Santa Fe, but that's exactly what we wanted. On the porch, there are two chairs, a table, and all the quiet you can handle. it is the perfect place to sit and reflect on the day's events. We will stay here again if the opportunity arises. I recommend seriously considering this property, especially if you are ok with driving a bit. Also, the convenience store/gas station on the corner, about 3 miles away, was filled with friendly, helpful staff.

Wonderful stay in Santa Fe, NM

Our hosts (Kenny and Ulli) were both very warm and friendly. The place we stayed in was clean, cute and comfortable in a beautiful area. Kenny was helpful in finding restaurants, places to go and hike as well as things to see. We have a large (75lb), friendly dog and they were great with him (even made themselves available to dog sit, if needed). We would definitely go back there again. It is in an area with nice easy hiking paths and out of the city, but not too far out. GREAT PLACE TO STAY.

Absolutely loved my time here. The house is gorgeous, as well as the view. The room comes with all the necessary kitchen tools for a short or long stay (fridge, kettle, water, utensils, mugs, etc.,) and the space is very cozy. The hosts are very accommodating and give you your space/aren’t loud when there. The entire bedroom space is closed off from the main house so you have the place to yourself and can come and go as you please. Overall, I had an incredible stay and would come back! Great for a solo traveler or couple.

I was born and raised in Kenya, where my parents had arrived as Jewish refugees from Eastern Europe in the early 1940s. I studied animal behavior, zoology and botany at the University of Nairobi before doing post-graduate studies in film at Bristol University in the UK. Then I was employed with a film production company in Hamburg, Germany, where I lived for 12 years before coming to the US. I am a journalist, documentary filmmaker, author and teacher, as well as a landlady and gardener.

I love meeting people, having interesting conversations, dancing, going out to eat, watching good theater and movies, spending time with friends, traveling.

Learn more about me here: https://www.rafikiproductions.com and here: https://www.acaciamoyo.org .

My partner Uli is German and will fill in if I am not available.

We are quiet but we like to entertain from time to time. If you are around, we might invite you to join us!

Why they chose this property

Eldorado is a quiet neighborhood of people of all ages, many of whom have settled here from afar. Events such as the Friday Farmers' Market and the annual StudioTour attract visitors from other areas. We are an easy 15-minute drive into downtown Santa Fe, which offers a plethora of museums, galleries, restaurants, and public events, such as free live concerts on the Plaza and in the Railyard during the summer. Various organizations offer fascinating lectures and performing arts events, while the best movies can be seen at the Violet Crown and Jean Cocteau movie theaters. For a small town, the cultural offerings are more than satisfying! There's always plenty to do here, whether it be outdoor hiking, horse riding, and biking, or more intellectual pursuits.

Our house was built in 1979 in one of the first passive solar communities in the US. The thick adobe walls really keep summer and winter temperatures comfortable. The lovely terrace affords not only beautiful views of the distant mountains but also a truly peaceful place from which to watch the smaller wildlife that lives around us. You'll see lizards, humming birds, bees, mice, gophers, crows, hawks, coyotes, maybe a bobcat or deer, snakes, rats, rabbits, spiders -- all the critters that make this little world go round.

Step off the terrace and you're on the Eldorado Green Belt. Just follow the paths for miles to enjoy the pretty views, the cacti and wildflowers along the way and the juniper and pinion high desert. It's ideal for walking your dog!

What makes this property unique

This en suite room and bath is in a traditional Southwestern adobe home, with one-foot thick adobe walls and viga ceiling.

It is decorated with textiles, art, and artefacts from all over the world, making a cozy, colorful, and unique world for our guests.

Most of the year, the terrace offers wonderful additional private outdoor space for your enjoyment. It is furnished with a round table, two comfortable chairs, and a small BBQ, all beneath a spacious shade sail.

We are conveniently close to Eldorado supermarket, post office, hardware store, gym, health clinic, pet store, and a few restaurants.

We allow dogs and offer dog services, such as walking or feeding if you're out
