Nice place. A bit loud at times with people coming in and out. All four rooms clustered together on a short hall.
Very clean and reasonably priced. Great location to the downtown area. Had a great time.

Wonderful! Beautiful property. We loved drinking coffee on the porch overlooking the bay. We enjoyed staying here. It was our first time in Apalachicola. We would definitely stay at your Inn again.
Would you please tell us the brand and type mattress is in Gorrie’s Getaway #1? It’s very comfortable. 😊

Charming and quiet. Comfortable bed and plenty of space. A few issues related to the fact that it’s an old building - sagging floorboards that can pinch your feet, noisy creaking, etc. but overall, really nice
The place is old and stately. If you want to watch TV, this place is not for you. We had the only room with access to the balcony. It so somewhat un kept on the outside . Looks like they were trying to do some up keep. The outs side needs painting and cleaning.
Unfortunately the property is very dated. We stayed on the second floor and there were several spots in the flooring that were sagging and extremely soft, concerning. Additionally the curtains over the door leading to the shared balcony and in the bathroom did not completely cover the window, allowing others the ability to see inside. Also, the hall light remains on all night and there are windows at the top of the room that allow that light to shine in BRIGHTLY!
The property manager was courteous and prompt in answering the phone when we had a question.
This is quaint historic building with tasteful old furniture, within easy walking distance to all the downtown shops. There is a shared basic communal kitchen. There is no stove or microwave, but everything else you might need is there, such as dishes, silverware, coffeemaker, large sink for dishwashing, shared refrigerator, and a cute kitchen table for two. My sister and I sat at the kitchen table to play board games in the late evening. There is a washer and dryer room.
All rooms are upstairs. Our room amenities included: roomy bathroom with tub and walk in shower, french doors that open onto the balcony that fronts the entire upstairs, rocking chairs included. Our bed was comfy.
Love the use of the old building and sitting on the balcony was great. But to be a premier destination maintenance and the finishing touches need to be addressed. Paint, in room window shutters, porch rails......would I stay again, maybe.
The proprietors were not only responsive, but extremely flexible with rescheduling due to a possible hurricane. Would not hesitate to book with them again. Property was clean and comfortable.
Guests need to be aware that the community area is right outside your room at Gorrie’s Getaway. This means a VERY bright light stays on 24/7 that comes into your room as well as a good bit of noise if your neighbors decide to empty the icemaker late at night every night into their cooler. The room itself is very comfortable.
We always love staying at the Bowery Inn but when we got there the front door looked like someone had tried to break in. It was honestly pretty unsettling this visit. We were afraid someone would attempt it again. On top of that one of the other guests staying there woke us up at 3am shouting and knocking on all the doors yelling "hello! Hello! Im trapped inside can someone let me out"
Other than that wild experience this time around on our visit, we usually do enjoy staying here. Hopefully next time the front door will be fixed and the other guests will adhere to the quiet hours! 😬
If you like hotels with wall to wall carpeting and generic furnishings this place is NOT for you. This place: well worn wood floors...sand washed decor...sparse and clean...so good for getting away from the noisy, cluttered world. Sitting in a rocker on the deck watching fish jump....feeling the warm bay breeze...WONDERfuL.
The Bowery district was a perfect place to extend our vacation. Gorrie’s Getaway was very spacious, with a large claw foot tub and all the amenities you need for a quiet stay. The antique hardware and original building details were beautiful! The shared porch was nice, but even though this room came with a private entrance, other guests sat in front of our windows and doors each morning so be prepared and keep the curtains closed! Looking forward to staying again.
Our stay was just about perfect. The location was on the edge of town which made sitting on the porch rocking chairs so quiet and peaceful. The room lent itself to a bygone era of elegant simplicity. The king size bed was so cozy and the bathroom was just lovely due to the many windows which let in the coastal light. The location made walking around Apalachicola very easy. We loved the shops and restaurants, especially the Owl Cafe and Up the Creek. The whole experience was just delightful!
