Mountain get away

Charming historic cottage with many modern upgrades. Beautifully landscaped. Very well decorated. Nice layout & spacious for our group of 7. The outside areas were not as clean as I would expect. The host was very responsive, and left flowers, wine & s’mores which was a nice touch. House was very close to town for convenience but proximity to the road created a lot of road noise at all hours. The Viking range did not work and we seemed to run out of hot water after 2 showers.overall we had a good experience!

Bachelorette Party

This house was perfect for our trip! We had such a great time together and could not have imagined a better place to do it. The roses, s’mores, and charcuterie board were such a fantastic surprise, thank you so much to Janet for going out of her way to make sure we had the best time!!! I most definitely recommend this home to anyone looking for a place in Highlands!

Nice Property and Grounds

We had a great time celebrating my wife’s 50th birthday. The house is spacious for the 3 other couples we hosted. It’s a 100 year old home, but with several nice upgrades as you can see by the photos. The chef’s kitchen is beautiful!! We did experience an issue with the gas range when trying to cook pizzas, but overcame that by using the charcoal grill.

Nice House near Highlands

Management was great - Janet was very responsive and helpful - made us feel welcome. It's an old house in the woods - heavily wooded - a lot of growth around it. Nice to sit on the porch in the morning with coffee. The owner could put a bit more investment into the home - felt more like a camp than a house at times.

In Highlands for wedding

The home is a charming “historical” age home that offered excellent sleeping arrangements with the number of king size beds & queen size bunks. The kitchen is lovely but since we didn’t cook in it was of little benefit other than our gathering place. The floor plan is far from ideal with all bedrooms being upstairs. The location of the den/living room was not utilized because of its location. Inadequate number of bathrooms and poor location design of each. Internet service and cell phone service is virtually nonexistent. Not a home we would rent again but satisfied our needs for this particular trip The outdoor furniture is in horrible condition and too dirty to use.

Charming home nestled in mtns

Our stay in Highlands was delightful over Christmas in this home. Its charm and beautiful grounds made our stay worth the visit. Its proximity close to town made it easy to shop and enjoy what all the Highlands has to offer.

Great Girls’ Trip

This is our second time staying in the house, and it was great for our annual girls’ trip! The kitchen and dining room give you a ton of room. Extra touches like wine, smores, and a cheese board were a great surprise. Our weather wasn’t great, otherwise we would have loved to enjoy the cute outdoor area too! With a bigger group, you do have to rotate bathrooms a bit but that’s typically expected. We wished the living room area was a bit bigger for us to hang out in. But overall, it’s a great house and we’d defintely come back!

Highlands garden paradise

Beautiful property. Charming Highlands farmhouse surrounded by extraordinary gardens and fire pit. Attractively furnished with very comfortable beds, 3 porches. Fun bunk room and media room for kids. Close to town and hiking. Highly responsive and welcoming host. Only issues could be spotty Wi-Fi and third bathroom on first floor (away from bedrooms).

Updated historic home retreat

We had a wonderful stay at the Harbison House, and would love to return soon! We had a private chef come in and cook for us while at the home, and both he and our family were very impressed with restaurant-grade kitchen appliances, huge island for staging/prep, and the roomy, adjacent dining area. The property itself is beautiful, as well! We couldn’t have asked for a better property manager to be in contact with, as well. Janet was always prompt and a wonderful Southern hostess/contact during our stay.

Holly Hill was a dream come true!!!

Holly Hill is truly magical! We rented this house for our bridal party on our wedding week and it could not have been more perfect! The house is stunning, being over a hundred years old, it is in pristine condition and has the charm of a cozy historic mountain estate. All of the bedrooms have the most comfortable beds, and the public areas are grande in size, the kitchen has all of the tools you would ever need. The landscaping and outdoor handout spots were truly picturesque. The fire pit was our favorite place to hang out in the evenings, they even provided us a s’mores kit and an unlimited supply of firewood! Janet went above and beyond to make sure our stay was top notch, the most hospitable host I’ve ever experienced! She surprised us with a welcome cheese plate, flowers and my favorite Rosè! She is an absolute gem! I could not recommend Holly Hill and Janet more, we will 100% be back! Thank you for the most incredible experience possible! Candace & David

Our Highlands Wedding

We were so very pleased with our weeklong stay at Holly Hill. The management team went over and above to make sure every detail was perfect and they did not disappoint. The house decor is stunning and exceedingly comfortable, and the grounds are picturesque. Our small garden wedding was absolutely beautiful, and everything we dreamed it would be. As an added bonus. the location is only a five minute drive from town and yet so serene. We hope to return to this same home often. *****

Charming historic vacation getaway.

We had a great week visiting Highlands as we do several times a year. From the initial booking everything was great with this experience. Janet, the property concierge was easy to reach via call or text and made sure we had an amazing vacation. Upon arrival, she had a bottle of chilled wine (she called to ask what we like 😀), fresh flowers and a stuffed cookie jar with delicious cookie assortment. The house and property were just what you want in a big old mountain home, creaky floors and all!! Real southern charm with screened doors that iconically slam themselves shut on front and back porches to announce one’s entry. The house is updated but maintains its historic character. The 200 year old claw footed tub is a museum piece of its own! Kitchen was updated and had a great coffee bar. We spent every evening out by the huge fire pit, stocked with plenty of firewood and s’mores provision. After the kids went to bed, the adults lounged in the intimate, beautifully furnished study. Gas fire place was on with the flip of a switch and in full relaxation mode. Thanks for the great memories!!

A happy new year in Highlands!

Our family enjoyed our stay at Holly Hill in Highlands over the New Years holiday! Janet was very easy to work with, providing her contact info to us early on in the booking process, and she went above and beyond with her level of communication and providing us with a complimentary bottle of wine, charcuterie board and s'mores kit upon arrival. The location is a quick drive into downtown Highlands and to Brysons for groceries, and the house and property have a lot of natural and historic charm. The kitchen and coffee bar were very well-stocked and the large dining table easily accommodated our whole family. The fire pit was perfect for clear winter days and the gardens are sure to be beautiful in the spring and summer. The beds and linens were incredibly comfortable and some of the best we've ever had in a rental home. We also loved being able to bring our dog - and the pet-friendly accommodation was a huge plus for us! A few minor things you may want to consider (these are not complaints, just notes) depending on who is planning to rent the home: - The home has 4 bedrooms with king beds and an additional bunk room upstairs so it could easily accommodate several different couples or families, however, only 1 of the bedrooms has an en suite bathroom. The other 4 bedrooms share 1 fairly small hall bathroom. There is an additional very large bathroom downstairs with a clawfoot tub, toilet and very small shower, however, it is somewhat awkwardly located near the front door and kitchen, so going up and down the stairs to the restroom in the middle of the night or to shower is not the most convenient. This may not be much of an issue if close family is staying together but may not be ideal for several unrelated parties or extended family. - The movie and game room is located in the attic up an extremely steep set of stairs and a waiver must be signed in order to use it. Not an issue for teens, but probably not very safe for younger children. - The home is located off of a main road and the property is surrounded on both sides as the road winds around the property. You will hear some noise from the road when outside at the fire pit or garden and you'll need to be somewhat careful if you have a dog or children that will be outside playing. - We had no cell service at the house. There is WiFi and a home phone provided, but the WiFi was intermittent. Dish Network is the TV provider. Overall, a wonderful stay to ring in the new year!

Wonderful Property

We loved our stay at the Holly Hill Harbison property. The home is beautiful with impressive upgrades. As advertised, the beds were incredibly comfortable. We loved the proximity to downtown Highlands - if accessing Main Street Highlands with ease is of importance to you this is a great choice. The property is beautiful with lots of fun opportunities outside: corn hole, fire pit, wooden swing, etc. Our only complaint about outside is the grill. It’s a Weber Charcoal grill that was too rusty to be able to use. However the range inside offers an opportunity for grilling so not a big deal. The house is very clean and well set up. Being a historic home may be why we encountered several stink bugs inside. Janet is wonderful to work with. She communicates well and is available to any help needed. She left us a delicious charcuterie board and bottle of wine which hit the spot after a long drive. She also left items for s’mores and that made my kids so excited. She was incredibly accommodating when we needed to add our dog to the guest list last minute. The only thing that would have been off the charts great for our family was a baby gate somewhere in the house. But that would be very specific to our young kids. Overall I highly recommend a stay at this property.
