Our extended family enjoyed a long weekend getaway at this cabin. The driving instructions were extremely helpful as it is tricky to find. The outdoor space and view is amazing.
Had the pleasure of staying at this property for a sibling trip. The home was clean, had plenty of beds and the kitchen was well equipped. The property was beautiful and so were the views of the lake. Road to house was not paved and it was long. Definitely recommend driving slowly down it. The ride into town was an easy. Thank you for having us!
This Skaneateles lakefront cottage is the cleanest rental property that I have ever stayed in- compared to oodles of beach and vacation rentals from the 90s to present! It was truly immaculate. The only thing cleaner than the cottage was the lake water - it was truly shocking. If the lake was not 16 miles long, I would believe that they filter it ;). It appears as though someone dropped the Caribbean Sea into upstate NY!
In all seriousness, this cottage is absolutely perfect for anyone seeking amazing views and quiet, secluded family time. It provides so many options for enjoying the outdoors - including every imaginable water activity. The location is a short drive from the paved highway but worth navigating to achieve such a peaceful and amazing location. The cottage is fully appointed and so comfortable. The grill lit on the first try and allowed us to relax and take in the serenity each night! Bring groceries and plan on peace and quiet. The village is very quaint and we enjoyed a visit to Anyelas Vineyard, but the real draw for this cottage is its location and peaceful setting. Enjoy!
Our stay was great. It was my family of 4 and my sister’s so 8 total. The kids are between 10 and 17.
The outdoor areas are even better than expected and so spacious. We parked our jet ski overnight on the mooring and used their 2 kayaks often. We lucked out with the weather. Most days were sunny and very warm.
It wasn’t really a problem for us but the beds listed as queen are actually doubles. Also, the owners have a cottage on the property too and so you may have to share the outdoor spaces.
My family and I enjoyed a terrific week on beautiful Lake Skaneateles. Mike and Lindsey’s lake house is clean, comfortable and has excellent lake access - perfect for swimming and boating. We loved it, and plan on returning.
House was clean and cute with beautiful views of the lake. The only 2 things I’d say were less than idea were the “living” areas upstairs and downstairs were a bit small for the girls to all sit but if the weather was nicer we probably could have hung out on the closed in porch which was beautiful. Also the dirt/rock road was tricky especially if another car was coming and it was a bit scary to drive at night. Overall we had an amazing time, I am guessing the place is even more beautiful in the warmer weather! (There was a hot tub on premise but we couldn’t use it, that would have made it spectacular)
It was a little confusing finding the correct cottage and after the rains it was a little nerve wracking but once we found it, it was a slice of paradise. The owners were very helpful for any little hiccup. Lindsay was so helpful in making sure we had a kayak at our disposal.
We had a great time visiting Skaneateles for the first time. Mike and Lindsey were very welcoming, responsive, and overall great hosts. Their property has stunning views and is great for both adults and children. What a special place - we'll be back!
Thank you!
Our family of six truly enjoyed our stay at this wonderful property. It was exactly as pictured and the hosts could not have been sweeter! Our kids played together and swam all day long in the crystal clear lake. We hope to return next summer! Thanks for a wonderful Labor Day weekend!!
Perfect location for a summer camp experience on Skaneateles Lake. We rented a boat and kept it on the mooring for easy access. Mike and Lindsey were great and our kids enjoyed playing together. The house itself was comfortable for a family of 5 and had the amenities we expected. Evening walks up the farm road were pleasant and the property was beautiful. We plan to return next summer!
Beautiful property, quiet, clear lake water, great view! Hosts were very friendly! We already know we want to come back to stay at this property on a future vacation!
If the Grandchildren were napping it might be one of the quietest places that I have vacationed:) That being said the Quigley Family were nice people and their rental is spot on in the description, the location was great for us with the proximity to Carpenter Falls and lake access(docked my boat there) and if you take your boat keep your trailer on site...somewhere! When I first arrived the young lady told me I could leave my truck and trailer in the lot of the boat launch which I did figuring that would work great due to the other vehicles and the road leading to house being a little challenging for an old guy with a trailer. So when I had my daughter drop me off to pick up the boat and when we arrived no truck or trailer to be found. You can't imagine what that felt like and the trouble we went through to find them. In a nutshell, it was towed to Auburn and the tow person would only take cash 800 and change , we scrambled to find an ATM and all we could get was 529.00 between us. So the Serenity was washed away in 3hrs time:( So the accommodations were great with different decks to escape to if you needed to, weather could have been better but thats the way it worked out. Funny no ticket or contact before it was towed the day before we were to leave.......maybe instead of working in a factory for 32 yrs I should have pursued a career in the tow business, sure would have retired a lot earlier!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Freedom Cottage. We were in town for the funeral of my mother-in-law, it was really nice to be by the water in a peaceful environment for reflection and to spend time with family. Overall, the property was great, there was plenty of space for our group and the beds were very comfy. The cottage was nice and clean, and the views of the lake were beautiful. We had a little trouble at check in, but Michael was very responsive, and solved the issue quickly. Compared to other rentals we have stayed in we felt it could have been a little better equipped. Extra trash bags, shampoo, soap etc would have been a bonus. Also we did get quite a few splinters from the deck when walking around with no shoes after swimming, so would recommend wearing shoes. It was great being able to jump into the water right from the dock, my elder son loved it, but it was a little tricky for my under son to navigate who isn't a strong swimmer yet. We worked around it, but something to be aware off if you have younger children. Also the drive down to the cottage is via a long dirt track, we had a truck and 4x4 so it wasn't an issue but beware of that if you have a smaller vehicle. Overall great stay, thank you!!
The property was even better than the photographs suggest. The interior was perfect for our three generation getaway. My wife , daughter, son-in-law, and infant grandson had plenty of room and privacy. Commanding views of the lake were afforded on both interior levels, the top deck, and lower screened porch. Multiple outdoor spaces invited us to linger and take in the foliage and reflections in the translucent lake. The fire pit near the lake was also greatly appreciated. We were happy to have the opportunity to meet Michael upon arriving. He quickly sent us additional information about the area. We are very much looking forward to returning!
We were looking forward to staying at this beautiful Skaneateles lakefront home as a long weekend getaway and we weren't disappointed. The property is very well maintained and the cottage/home was well appointed and clean when we arrived.
There were only four adults and one child in our group, but it's ideally set-up for a larger family.
The town of Skaneateles is a quaint town to spend the day, and scenic Carpenter Falls is just minutes away!
If you're looking for your next getaway at the lake, this could be it!
Great place for some lake time. It's a comfortable living space, but you probably won't spend much time indoors since the outdoors in beautifully landscaped with great hang-out spaces. The waterfront and dock are very perfect. Easy swimming in clear clean water. Fun hiking trailhead to a waterfall is a short walk away. Rented a boat from a nearby arena and was able to keep it right in front of the house overnight without any problem. Mike, the owner is very helpful and responsive. Will definitely stay again
Michael & Lindsey were fantastic hosts, from ensuring we had everything we needed to providing recommendations of where to go and eat. The cabin was spotless and comfy and the waterfront incredible. One thing to note was the number of stairs to access the dock/water which may be a challenge for some folks. Would definitely recommend!
Many steps to & from the water, but it's so worth it!
Lovely home, property owners next door, very nice family. Living space/kitchen small on the main floor and the kitchen is not fully equipped if you like to cook, and no dishwasher. however, the upper deck is quite large and wraps around to the side. There is a table for 6 and a grill with beautiful lake views!
on the lower level is a screened in porch with some furniture. We enjoyed our morning coffee out there while looking at the lake, and late evening card games with no mosquitoes! Great place for small group 🙂
My family stayed at the property during a rough weekend of laying my Mom's ashes to rest in Newfield. I chose this location due to my Mom's love of the finger lakes and the last one we ever drove along was Skaneateles Lake. The windy, gravel road is a bit misleading to the prize at the end, but the house and view were incredible! We all enjoyed the rooms, the deck, the sounds of the forest and lakefront...it was a really great time. The kitchen was a bit tight, but we cook for an army, so that was also on us a bit. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely book this property again. The owners really made us feel welcomed and important. Thank you!
Amazing home, amazing hosts, amazing lake. Just amazing!
There is something very special about this property. From the moment we arrived, we felt right at home. The home is spacious (we had nine people total, and we did not feel cramped at all) and the attention to detail is apparent. The property itself is gorgeous and the lake is breathtaking!
We enjoyed swimming, sunbathing, hiking, grilling, and family nights around the fire pit.
Michael and Lindsey were wonderful hosts, available whenever we needed them and full of helpful tips for the area. Lindsey, we tried out Ithaca Bakery, as you suggested, and it was every bit as delicious as you said it was!
Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful property with us. The next time we are in the area, we will definitely be staying here again!

Why they chose this property
This property has one of the most impressive waterfronts on the lake. The water at the edge of the dock is deep enough for jumping right into the water. You'll have no trouble parking your boat or PWC. If you have small children or prefer a walk out beach, a beautiful private gravel/sand beach is located just to the right of the property. Relax and unwind by the outdoor fire pit located just feet from the lake.
