The Farmhouse is set back way off the road and is very quiet. The house is completely stocked for what every you need to cook. Has a mice issue but Kris is taken care of that she advised me. Other than that house is very clean and nice
This house was located in a great place for our needs. Although there were some minor issues the owners worked with us quickly and everything turned out great. Hosts were very friendly.
It was a nice quiet place to stay, especially after a long day at the quilt show. Grocery store had tremendous meats but they closed at 6:00 so we only made it there 2 times. LOVED the porch especially when eating breakfast in the morning. Watching the wildlife wake up and get moving was a great way to start the day.
We enjoyed our stay with Kris and Rocky. They are the kind of hosts that we really wish we could have hung out with more on our trip. It was a great time. The air went out and it was a hot day and they did everything they could to accommodate. It got repaired immediately in the am. We will rent again if we head down to Metropolis. A very large home to enjoy with family and friends. The country atmosphere for young families is a must.
What a great location, a great place, and superior hosts for the Tunnel Hill 100 Race. We had a crew of 7 running in the 2023 Tunnel Hill 50/100 Mile race in Vienna, IL and this was a great option for us as we prepped for the race and had a place to come back to and refresh the day after the race before the drive back home for our crew. The hosts for the property are super kind and so great to work with. You will not come across kinder folk. I hope to be back next year to both the race and to stay here again.
We enjoyed our stay very much. The home is exactly as described. Nothing fancy but everything worked, and was spacious. We had beautiful views of the lake from the back porch.
The host were a phone call away and very friendly. We highly recommend and hope to return in the future!

A little lacking
Surface cleaning done only. Dirty handprints and marks all on walls, lights, door frames. Burn marks and melted stuff all around fireplace. Exposed wires from missing ceiling lights in bedroom, on 2 sets of exposed wires hanging on porch. Photos do not show deficiencies.
Waiting for a refund. It wasn’t clean, one bathroom was filthy and the sink didn’t drain. One bedroom had exposed wires and a broken bed, and on and on.

Spacious but needs cleaning and maintenance
House is large with nice back deck overlooking pond, but house had obviously not been cleaned with dirty bathrooms, dirty kitchen, and pet-stained smelly carpet. Also wifi did not work. Host was very responsive to our requests for date change and wifi concerns. We let the hosts know that the house needs deep cleaning and some maintenance, and they apologized and seemed to take it seriously.
We enjoyed the big house with plenty of place to spread out. The setting is wonderful with the big lake behind the house. The large covered porch is a wonderful to sit and watch the deer in the evenings! We will be back.
House was perfect size and location. It is older, so not mint condition. We were comfortable. Owners are extremely nice. My kids would have liked some games or cards since there is no internet as of yet. Would have also liked a hairdryer. But overall, great. Would stay again.
Some buddies and I recently stayed at the house as we were in the area looking at hunting land. I was blown away by the generosity of the owners when on our way from Florida I asked if there was a grill on-site, Kris asked if I preferred charcoal or gas, I responded with charcoal but I wasn’t picky. On arrival we were shocked to find a brand new charcoal grill waiting for us! The place was extremely clean and the view of the lake from the back porch, with a beverage in hand, topped it off after a long day hanging tree stands.
