The lake is right outside the door, and the view from the living room is just beautiful! We were in the area for work and didn't have much time to enjoy it, but there is a gorgeous gazebo on the side and a fire pit on the patio out back - both looking directly our onto the lake. One small downside, the bedroom is quite small - but we did enjoy the view of the sunrise on the lake right from the bed..

Gary and Nick are wonderful - they are there if you need them and are as pleasant as can be. (And their corgis are the sweetest babies!)
Their home is beautiful and very comfortable, with just what you need and easily within all the important routes to take you to the "sites". Of course it's on the lake, so just doing nothing is like a luxury.
Whether soaking in the quiet lake, or using the home for "home base" this was perfect.
Gary and Nick were so kind, helpful and heartwarming !
The location was on a relaxing lake with a great abundance of things to do such as swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing and boating. The view of the lake was amazing
Thank you Gary and Nick for your hospitality (and the delicious eggs and banana bread)
The property was immaculate. Gary was very welcoming and had everything covered for our stay. It was a perfect spot for me and my small kids (5 and 3) to just relax and swim every day and enjoy the yard and row around on the water. We will definitely book again.
The place was super cute and soooo relaxing! Gary and Nick were great and let us be as we enjoyed our time but helpful when we needed them. This was the perfect short escape where we enjoyed fishing on the lake and just time away from home. Highly recommend this to anyone.
We had a truly wonderful time at Gary and Nick's place. The space is attached to their home and was the original dwelling 70 years ago. It has the cabin paneled walls, a tiny kitchen and bathroom but a spacious main room, and a fun loft that kids will like. The best feature, though, is the amazing setting. The home is located on the lake and there are beautiful outdoor seating areas. The whole property is magnificently maintained. Really everything you would want, even a couple of kayaks and a rowboat. We saw loons, a bald eagle and many ducks. The 3 corgis were great hosts, too. The property is also close to good restaurants. We hope to return next summer! Highly recommend!
Overall very pleasant stay! Owners on-site but very respectful of privacy. Loft bed very comfortable for sleeping, but no standing room, so had to be careful. Lots of private seating areas outside - very relaxing to sit and read! Easy access from Rt. 4, and central to all of NH and northshore MA. Would definitely stay here again.
Stayed here for my 40th wedding anniversary. Gary and Nick were wonderful hosts and very gracious. The house was immaculate and very comfortable to to stay in. The views are killer enjoyed our first night sitting by the fire pit and looking at the lake. Unfortunately we had the very windy Saturday because of the hurricane that was coming through. Would definitely stay there again. 100% recommend this listing. Thanks again Gary and Nick for a wonderful weekend.
This was the perfect quiet getaway for us after our wedding weekend as a mini honeymoon. The peaceful tranquility of the lake, the homemade jam & banana bread waiting for us, and the zen like plants and statues were perfect. We enjoyed sun bathing in the yard, sitting under the lot up gazebo at night, and the gas lit fireplace. The queen bed upstairs was very comfortable! We took many naps.
The view is lovely & yard well manicured. The gazebo & patio are very nice. The owners are super respectful, which is appreciated. Most everything was quite clean. The banana bread, waters, coffee & creamer were very nice touches. The decore was wonderfully eclectic. I did have a nice time hiking and going through the antique shops. Loved having a little face time with your corgies. The price point cannot be beat. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home.
Was in town for a friends wedding and needed a place nearby to stay. Decided on this lake front and my girlfriend and I couldn’t have been happier with our decision. The property is even more beautiful in person and Gary is a very attentive host. We were pleasantly surprised by the fresh delicious eggs and banana bread in the fridge. I would give my overall experience a 10/10, highly recommend.
A very beautiful setting, with the lake right at your back door. It's a very quiet and tranquil setting which we certainly enjoyed. There are a number of places to venture out and see all within 30-60 minutes depending on how far you want to go. My wife and I had a wonderful stay and I think as long as you know that the bed is up in the loft, you should be fine. There are plates, utensils, pots/pans if you would like to cook and a large TV with various streaming options for entertainment. Gary and Nick were wonderful hosts and it was a pleasure to stay and meet them both.
Enjoyed the stay at Gary and nicks. House was clean and as described. Rustic in a good way. Has the essentials you need. Reminds me of a traditional New Hampshire/Maine lake house or larger cottage. Back yard right on the lake was extremely well kept and peaceful. Only suggestion I’d really have is although the large windows outlooking the water is an amazing view. It would’ve been nice to have some curtains or drapes on the windows. Will absolutely consider renting from them again next year for our yearly trip.
The house has a separate apartment and it is right on the lake. Guests have use of a rowboat and two kayaks. We used the kayaks and enjoyed paddling around the lake. The bedrooms are in a loft area with a slanted ceiling so you had to be careful not to bang your head.
Gary was very nice and answered promptly when I asked for the WiFi password. They provided dishes, pots and pans, some bottled water, half & half and sugar, and some spices.
My husband and I would definitely stay here again.

Not quite as advertised
The setting is beautiful and the kayaking is great. But the noise of the traffic outside on the main road and the dogs barking constantly when the owners were not there detracted from the experience. The upstairs loft bedrooms are very tight and challenging to get to- ceilings are very low and on one side you have to crawl to get to the bed (though kids would love it.)
This is the perfect lake getaway. First off, super friendly owners; very kind and accommodating. The House itself is so quaint, small, but adorable. There is a small kitchen; we didn't cook, but it seems very functional. Queen bed an 2 twin beds upstairs in the loft area....you need to duck, but very comfortable sleeping. Nice living room with large TV and all the streaming services. AC downstairs; worked very well....we didn't need it on the last day, we just opened the windows and soaked in the breeze. The lake.....so wonderful! There's a row boat, kayaks, and just swimming. The outdoor landscaping was beautiful and there are places to sit and relax. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to go back again and again!
This was a relaxing little apartment to stay in off the beaten path. The little apartment was connected to the owners home by locked doors. However, we felt totally secluded as if we were in our own separate cottage. The queen size bed was in a loft with a very low ceiling, as the home was only one and a half stories. We could not stand up in the bedroom. The stairs were also very steep and narrow. It worked well for us to keep our luggage on the lower level. The living area was huge. Our favorite was the outdoor gazebo where we could relax in the morning with coffee or in the evening. The kayaks were very nice and clean and easy to use. The lake was peaceful. The owners keep an immaculate property with beautiful flowers and plays all around. The gas grill for our private use was great! We enjoyed the local brewery and pizza place. Northwood Meadows State Park was very close and great for hiking. We hiked the NALMC trail which was 5.7 miles.
We had a lot of rain but it was great to be right on the lake and also great to have usage of the row boat and kayaks for fishing (mostly small mouth bass)...I wouldn't consider this lake totally ideal for small children/swimming but it was definitely clean and quiet and a lot of that could have had to do with the rainy weather. the grounds were immaculate and you can tell there is pride of ownership from the beautifully manicured lawn and flowers to the clean interior. The second floor was challenging to sleep in as you could not stand and it got a little hot up there and felt crowded so I could see where that might not be ideal for some people looking for more space.... I would consider it more of a loft. overall we had fun, there was a lot to do in the area (Chucksters, antiquing, brewery, restaurants, etc) and we saw brilliant 4th of July fireworks. Hosts were on onsite but you wouldn't even know with the way the house was set up up so that was zero issue they were really respectful of privacy and kind. I saw a review about the noise/highway and wanted to note that it was definitely not a big deal and the house was not on the main road.... felt private enough.
Thanks for having us!!!!!
We had a wonderful stay. Our host Gary was welcoming and they even included delicious banana bread and fresh eggs from their chickens. Beautiful little house right on the lake. The only downside for us was some traffic sounds nearby when you’re outside and the ceiling height on the loft bedrooms. I’m 5’8” and had to duck while up in the loft. Those were just minor things as the house was just lovely. The kayaks were a bonus too! We did a few peaceful kayak outings on the lake while we were there. Overall a wonderful stay with wonderful hosts.
We were greeted by Gary and some fresh baked banana bread, and his fresh eggs. The place was clean, wonderfully eclectic decorated, and had a beautiful view of the lake. Outdoor seating and gazebo added to the relaxation. Couldn't have asked for a more perfect location! Thank you Gary and Nick!
Beautiful property, welcoming hosts, flowers, humming birds, dragon flies. My son loved the loft sleeping overlooking the lake. Loveable corgies were a plus. Little bit of street noise from across the lake was the only downside. Otherwise very quiet area.
