About this property

Riverfront Log Cabin, Hot Tub, Pet-Friendly, Universal Access

We have a 2 riverfront log cabins for rent on a 2 acre tract of land overlooking the River. This one is The Rose.

Nestled in a picturesque mountain valley in Western North Carolina, our hand built log cabin are located at the French Broad River, surrounded by the National Forest and the mountains that gave the Blue Ridge its name.

Privately situated, our large one-bedroom log cabin has excellent views, with lots of wide open space around them. Facing the river, with meadows and mountains on all sides, the shady front porch is a favorite spot come rain or shine. The huge grassy lawn slopes gently down to the road to the river’s edge, where we have a nice deck and bench for sitting and a path for strolling.

If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway you won’t find a nicer spot to settle in for a while. If an active outdoor vacation is more your style, River Lodge Log Cabins is a great place to come home to after a hard day of hiking, biking or rafting.

Our riverfront log cabin offers the perfect vacation getaway for couples of all ages, small families, and pet owners. The cabin has a vaulted ceiling in the main room, a private queen bedroom with antique furnishings, a sleeper sofa in LR and a bath with a handicap shower. The large sunny kitchen includes a side-by-side refrigerator, an electric cook stove, a convection oven/toaster, a microwave, and a coffee maker, and has a comfortable dining area. The covered front porch has a slatted wooden glider swing, a roomy hot tub and a gas grill in the yard. Other amenities include 4 towels and wash clothes, a satellite TV, split mini in the living room and bedroom, ceiling fan in the kitchen, bedroom and porch and a gas fireplace (Winter Use Only).

Our Hot Springs, NC cabin rental is conveniently located just a short drive northwest from Asheville and the Biltmore Estate. We have safe, easy access year-round for all types of vehicles. Many guests — pets as well as people — will appreciate the large level parking areas and entry ramps. Our universal design features include wheelchair access in both the kitchen and bath.

We recommend you get your groceries before getting to Hot Springs as we do not have any major grocery stores, just a Dollar General.

WE'RE PET-FRIENDLY!
We welcome responsible pet owners and their well-behaved companions. After all, what's a vacation without the family dog? We charge a flat $25 pet fee for each visit. You have to pick up after your pet. NO Cats as I am highly allergic to them.

GREENBUILT!
This is an authentic sawn log cabin we built ourselves with local wood from our own sawmill. The logs used for the main structure are hemlock. We used tongue and groove paneling on the walls and ceilings, and the floors are a fabulous mixture of local hardwoods. The metal roof makes music out of rainstorms! You’ll enjoy unique features such as handmade wood countertops and trim you just don’t get in “factory-built” cabins, plus the satisfaction of knowing that local labor and love were part of creating our cabin for your enjoyment, here by the riverside on our grandparents’ old family farm.

Quiet and beautiful

The cabin and property were amazing. The area has seen devastating effects from Helene but the community is rebuilding. Visit the Hot Springs and take a dip in the tubs.

Nice Quiet Stay

The cabin was nice, very quiet and private. We enjoyed the hot tub most of all. Also glad they allowed us to bring our dog. I agree with the host— get your main groceries before you come into Hot Springs. Downsides: I read a few previous reviews that the bed is very uncomfortable. This is true…. My husband & I resorted to the couch and recliner for the weekend. For some reason there were tiny gnats swarming the lamp.. they were very annoying. Each dish we used needed to be washed prior to using (the knife block was pretty dusty).

Great getaway cabin

The cabin is as described, secluded with mountains behind, a large lawn, and the river opposite, across the road. The interior is comfortable and everything works. There are some great hikes in the vicinity; Lover’s Leap and Max Patch are highly recommended. And good that it is pet friendly. Contrary to some reviews, I found the bed and mattress firm and comfortable, although the metal mesh supporting the mattress is noisy if you move about. The kitchen is potentially well equipped but needs a refresh - the cabin is down to its last glass, plus a collection of plastic beakers, and the supplies in the cupboard are seriously old. Indeed the olive oil smelled peculiar and was “best use before 2008” - sixteen years ago! Why sixteen years of guests haven’t done what I did and chuck it away, I don’t understand. Some fresh herbs and oils and salt and pepper, and some new glasses, would be good. But these are small points - for some rural R&R and either a lazy time or some active mountain hiking, this is a great place to stay.

Adorable cabin

My husband and I had a great stay in this sweet little cabin. A perfect place to unplug and relax. This will definitely be a repeat on our list of mini vaycays. Everything was perfect minus the communication as I reached out twice and got no response. We would definitely stay here again.

Great Little Cabin!

My husband and I (along with our two small dogs) recently had a relaxing stay at this cabin. The French Broad River is located at the bottom of the driveway and the view while relaxing on the front porch was great! We were content to hang out at the cabin to relax and recharge and we were not disappointed. The cabin is very cozy and had everything we needed for a nice stay. I HIGHLY recommend this cabin for anyone wanting to relax and get away from it all.

A little slice of heaven

This cabin is absolutely perfect for a solo retreat or a couples get away. It was clean and cozy. The owners were extremely kind. I enjoyed meeting them when they came to switch out the outdoor trash can. They asked if I’d been to Painted Rock yet and I hadn’t. After they told me what it was, I ventured up the road and climbed Painted Rock; it was the best thing I did all weekend. The view was a once in a lifetime experience. Highly recommend

Quite Weekend

Great little cabin on the river. Very quite and relaxing, hot tub was nice and clean. My biggest complaint was the mattress could be much better and my wife wanted a TV in the bedroom.

Why they chose this property

We built this cabin on this piece of property that my grandparents owned. This is a way of being able to keep this property in the family and for the family to enjoy and remember the good old times. I spent a lot of time here and this place is so dear to my heart.

What makes this property unique

Stroll across the lawn to our riverside deck, looking back to enjoy the sight of the mountain rising behind your log cabin, its white rocks glowing in the sun (or the moonlight!).

Sit by the river with the light sparkling on the water as the wind rustles the leaves, watch the cows graze and drink along the opposite bank, and wave to the rafters as they come by.

As the sun fades over the river, everyone can enjoy a good meal (fresh trout, perhaps?) cooked on the gas grill and a well-deserved soak in the hot tub. Try to stay awake long enough to watch the stars come out — the Milky Way can put on a big show up here!

Enjoy a scenic drive in any direction — we are surrounded by the National Forest and its natural unspoiled beauty.

Don’t forget your camera — you might miss a once-in-a-lifetime shot! Keep a lookout for the wildlife — deer, turkeys, rabbits, raccoons, foxes, mink, groundhogs, otters, and yes, even black bears.

Bald eagles, kestrels, hawks, great blue herons, ospreys, falcons, purple martins, cedar waxwings, ravens, swallows, indigo buntings, goldfinches and an array of waterfowl can be spotted while sitting right on the front porch of your log cabin.

The large sloping lawn is a great place to enjoy the wide-open spaces — whether playing badminton, Frisbee, croquet, throwing balls for the dog, or just taking in the view beside the pond. In the evening you can sit by the fire ring, gaze at the stars or catch lightning bugs, dependent on age and inclination.

Walking out the door of your log cabin you can enjoy rafting, tubing and trout fishing, an easy stroll or bike tour down River Road, hiking or backpacking on the Appalachian Trail.

Cyclists will enjoy our two nearby mountain bike courses, or a quick run downriver to the Paint Rock Corridor (and the Tennessee state line) and back. River Road is coaster-bike friendly!

So many choices!
