This home is beautiful. Very well designed. Layout is expansive yet comfortable for the five adults of our family. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, with the exception of a few minor inconveniences.
Loved the property which set up nicely for our family. Adult children and their spouses and our grandkids enjoyed time together, various restaurants in Highlands, watching football and the Highlands Outdoor center featuring snow tubing hill, ice skating and alpine coaster ride. Beautiful views from deck, plenty of quiet areas in home for reading. Ideal retreat.alpine
This home is beautiful, the views are amazing and the host was responsive to all questions leading up to, and during, our stay. We enjoyed a multi-family vacation and there was plenty of space both indoors and outdoors for everyone. My only caution would be if there is ice or snow during your stay you will likely need 4-wheel drive to reach the property as there are some extremely steep climbs within the neighborhood. Fortunately, we had mild weather and it was not an issue. Overall, a wonderful and relaxing home just 1.8 miles from downtown Highlands and there are no homes beyond this one in the neighborhood and you have all the privacy in the world! Great rental!
Great house for our family to gather at from all over the country for Christmas. Tons of space to spread out but very homey places to gather so that we all felt close too. Spacious kitchen and dining room. Beautiful views from all over the house. We had one small question for the owner and she responded immediately and the caretaker took care of our concern and was helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend.
We loved this home for so many reasons. The views might just be the best we’ve ever had in a mountain vacation home. The back deck is very large, with soft seating for 11 plus dining table and chairs for 10. The entire home is spacious and the bedrooms are large. The kitchen, laundry, and bathrooms are all large and efficient, and we loved the beautiful gated neighborhood. Highly recommend!
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Highlands Hideaway. It is located only a few minutes from downtown Highlands and was convenient for all activities. The house is very private( the only one on the street). We enjoyed the fire pit every night and the views were nice as well. Jen was very quick to respond to any inquiry. We will definitely book again!
Beautiful home- on top of the mountain wonderful views FYI a very steep road to get there.
House layout worked well with two separated upstairs areas. This allowed more privacy as we had a few groups of people. Overall great experience.
Small cleanliness comment- two different sofas had cheerios & kid games were needing to be sorted & some thrown away.
Would still recommend & would stay again.
This property is a real “Gem”…fantastic views, comfortable & cozy rooms, large living spaces, quiet surroundings and easy drive to Highlands and other venues!
Beautiful house and view! We totally loved our stay! Spacious, clean, and well-stocked. Fire pit was such a nice addition! Thank you for sharing your amazing house with us!
Pros—One of the very cleanest homes ever! Beautiful views and very well-appointed kitchen. Beautiful, secure neighborhood. Host was very attentive and answered texts quickly.
Cons—With older youth and teenage boys, some yard to throw baseball or football would have been great. Never got to use the nice fire pit due to Burn Ban (beyond any owner’s control). With Burn Ban in place, interior fireplace was more needed but the gas fireplace in family/dining room was broken and couldn’t be repaired during our visit.
Very nice, quiet place on top of a mountain. We had a small issue with a bear (getting into trash) and Jen took care of it right away !! Overall was very pleased with this mountain get away.
House lived up to the pictures and description. Plenty of room for 8 adults. Loved the huge dinning tables (one inside, another outside). Also liked that it was stocked with basic cooking items…seasonings, oil, high end wine opener, etc. large gas grill came in handy and even offered free firewood for the nice fire pit. Jen was great with her timely communications and hospitality.
This house was the perfect retreat for our friends in family on fall break. They small treats stocked in the home for us prior to our arrival was a wonderful personal touch. We will definitely book here again.
After visiting Highlands every summer for the past 20 years this was by far my favorite place we have stayed. The accommodations were immaculate and it was so convenient to everything. Nothing to worry about getting up the hill - we had a 2wd vehicle and had no issues. Thanks for being such a spectacular host!
This has to be the nicest VRBO property in Highlands. Plenty of room for seven adults, spectacular views, and not another home or structure in sight, yet less than ten minutes from downtown. Our stay could not have been more perfect.
Me and some friends stayed here for a wedding in Highlands. The home was beautiful and had an amazing view. The host had a food basket set up for us and all the bathrooms had everything we needed which was really thoughtful. The outdoor deck was a great setting for a group dinner and photos before heading off to the wedding! The home is in a great location, super close to downtown highlands.
Wonderful view. Beautiful home. Don’t come up without a 4x4.
This is a beautiful cabin /home in a beautiful location with a beautiful view. The road up here demands a 4 x 4. It is treacherous. We rented a Ford Expedition (that was not 4 x 4) that was scary to say the least to come up to this property. In order to get to the property you have to keep your momentum and swing wide on the turns. We actually had to BACK UP two turns (about 100 yards) and start over to get a running start.
You ABSOLUTELY need an 4 WD vehicle to get up this hill. My wife and daughter were terrified. Crying.
This limited our travels into town.
We cancelled ALL our dinner reservations at Highlands.
We left only once daily.
We ate store bought pizza and sandwiches on the way back home.
This is the only road that has ever scared here us in 30 years.
This is a lovely property. We had grandparents, children and grandchildren staying here and it was perfect. We enjoyed that there was a ground floor bedroom for the grandparents, totally separate areas for our two girls and their husbands, and a separate bunk area for the grandchildren. The house was clean and had no issues. Although it is very convenient to grocery stores and downtown, it felt absolutely isolated and had a beautiful view of the mountains.
