This spacious cabin sits across the road from Sorenson's Resort and is located within a quiet cluster of charming cabins. Large, wrap around deck overlooks the beautiful Carson River in which you can fish, swim or just listen. This Cozy Cabin is nestled in a landscape of pine and aspen trees which bring you back to nature.

You are 14 miles from So Lake Tahoe and 14 miles to Kirkwood Meadows. Enjoy year round casinos, skiing, water sports, restaurants, and so much more, yet after a days adventure, you can return to the peacefull serenity of Hope Valley. Gardnerville and Carson City are just a short drive away as are the hot springs of Markleeville.


Location: This custom log cabin is situated across from the famous Sorenson's Resort and located within a grouping of small adorable cabins. Located 25 minutes from South Lake Tahoe, 20 minutes from Kirkwood Ski Resort, and 25 minutes from Carson City. Located 4 hours from San Francisco Bay Area and 2 hours from the Sacramento Valley. This cabin is located right off of Highway 88/89 very easy drive into one of the most beautiful landscapes you will ever see.

Cabin Details: This beautiful property has been in our family for 3 generations. This is a place where memories will be made and kept forever. This Cozy log Cabin is nestled in a landscape of pine and aspen trees which bring you back to nature. The large wrap around deck that sits on the bank of the Carson River with a swimming hole and rock for sunbathing can be enjoyed by all. The amenities are absolutely incredible--you can relax and turn off the technology if you please,Very relaxing and we promise you'll want to come back again:)

Hope Valley Gem

Our stay was so comfortable and enjoyable. The property is fully stocked with all of the essentials needed for a prime Tahoe getaway. All of our needs for our growing family were accommodated as well.

Great cabin in beautiful location

We chose the cabin for the location, near snowshoeing trails that are easy to access, and near Desolation Hotel (used to be Sorenson's) which has a cute restaurant.The location worked out perfectly, there is plenty to do nearby or it's a short drive to South Lake Tahoe. The cabin itself is really lovely and well-maintained. The owners were helpful and easy to communicate with. There are baseboard heaters in the bedrooms which keep the cabin a very comfortable temperature in the winter, but do make it quite dry. If your sinuses are sensitive, you might consider bringing a humidifier. Generally speaking, this is a great place to stay for a winter getaway.

Quick- Fun- weekend

We had a great time- the stay was for a wedding near by. House was great, perfect spot on the river! Unfortunately for us it was a quick in and out for this trip- but would definitely stay again if available! Thanks Rick and Cindy for having such a warm, comfortable home!

Stunning Cabin Stunning Location

This is the cabin of dreams. Solid, well-made, beautiful. The kitchen was very well stocked and included Keurig coffee. The fireplace is as cozy as it gets. Sitting on the deck outside over the flowing river was so relaxing. We would rent this again and recommend it to friends.

Markleeville Stay

One of the best places we’ve stayed in a long time. Great location, friendly neighborhood and inside the cabin was amazing. The owners communicated with us very nicely and promptly over the VRBO app if we had any questions. If you’re looking to stay in the area, this place has to be your choice.

Everything about this cabin was incredible -- the smells of the timber, the sounds of the stream just off the back patio, the fireplace crackling through the evening. Can't wait to come back again in the future!

Our family had a wonderful time at this cabin. The layout of the home was great. Loved all the natural light. The view of the river from the living room and deck was beautiful. We stayed during a snow storm and it was even more magical. We can't wait to go back and experience the fall colors.

Winter wonderland

Had a great time again with fam and friend. Kirkwood had like an hour of traffic in and out Saturday but no traffic or lines Monday on our way home. Great relaxing day in between on Sunday cross country skiing and sledding right from cabin followed by Super Bowl.

Cross-Country Paradise on West Fork Carson

Wonderful in every way. Campground downriver is perfect beginner cross country ski loop, and paradise for the dogs. Loved hearing and seeing river right from cabin, could be even better if it freezes and gets buried in snow, so we can ski on it under the highway bridge to the next campground. Sorensen's across the highway has cafe and advanced ski/hike option for miles to Hope Valley Overlook, even Grover Hot Springs. Inside was beautiful, spacious, and well-stocked too, with fireplace, kitchen, comfy beds, plenty hot water, cathedral ceiling and windows facing river and mountains. Hosts were great responding to questions and uncertainty about who exactly in our group was coming (college buddy for a while, mom with baby, dogs). Can't wait to go back!

I want to move in!

What a fabulous find! The home is lovely, well-stocked, very clean and right on the river. Sitting on the deck, listening to the sounds of the water rushing and watching Quaking Aspens flicker in the breeze was simply the best. Our family of 4 came for a wedding at Desolation Inn across the street and our only complaint was that we wanted to stay longer. Thank you!!!

Wonderful Cabin by the River

This was perfect for our family. Easy access to the River and plenty of fishing opportunities. Hope valley is a beautiful area and a short drive to many pristine mountain lakes. The cabin was clean, comfortable and had plenty of space indoors and outdoors to enjoy.

We live in the Bay area and love to getaway to this beautiful cabin any chance we can. This is our family retreat which holds many memories from when our kids were young.
Our adult kids love to come up and make memories of their own now. We all Love it!

Why they chose this property

Beautiful location 15 minutes from South Lake Tahoe and 20 minutes from Kirkwood Ski Resort. We enjoy watching the river that runs right through our property. It is a unique and prime location. There are very few cabins in our area.

What makes this property unique

This property is unique and very special to our family. The deck that extends over the river is the perfect spot to sit and listen to the river and take in the beautiful scenery. There is so much charm in this special area it just grabs at your heart. We love this special place and are happy to share it.
