Cabin stay away

Loved the place and the indoor wood fire stove! Would recommend to a friend. There was also a canoe that was just wonderful to take out and paddle around the lake. There were a lot of flys but they left a fly swatter and we put that to use. 5 out of 5.

Peaceful and relaxing stay

We absolutely loved this stay in Ely! The dock fishing was great for my husband and the nice and private location was nice for my kids to run around and play. This location was also a short drive to Ely which made running in to town for necessities a breeze. Thanks for a wonderful time away from home! ❤️

Tranquil lake life

This was our ninth year staying at the cabin. It’s quiet, tranquil location keep us coming back. Fish off the dock, canoe, swim or float in the lake, sit on the deck - experience it all. Very relaxing and close to town if you want to go shopping, get an ice cream or grab some dinner.

Perfectly secluded getaway

This place had it all. Quiet secluded location, dock access, wildlife (squirrels, chipmunks, swans, birds, and deer) plus fall colors. Didn’t catch too many fish but time on the lake was serene. Cabin had gorgeous views and was fully equipped. We were sad to see our time end. We hope to visit again!

Happy place

We enjoyed our stay at this snug and cozy cottage in a private and serene bay. It’s not a luxury property, and only spritly parties will be able to comfortably make the treck up the winding staircase, but this property oozes north woods charm. The house has board games, puzzles, a tv with access to movies, and had a well-stocked kitchen, complete with plastic bags and spices. My kids loved picking wild raspberries and catching frogs, and we loved watching sunsets over the water and stargazing at night. If you’re prone to complain about thread count, this isn’t the property for you, but if you want to create amazing family memories I cannot recommend highly enough.

Peaceful Bay on Garden Lake

Wonderful stay on Garden Lake. This is an excellent spot to kayak, canoe, and fish and if wanted you could kayak/canoe into the BWCA from the dock. Secluded on 40 acres of peace and quiet. Nice little brook runs through the property and saw a lot of wildlife. Only minutes from Ely for dining and shopping and within 30 minutes of numerous trailheads for hiking. Highly recommend hiking Dry Falls and taking a dip in the lake at the base of the falls.

Perfect Garden Lake stay

This was our third stay at the cabin and it was just as great as our first two. The cabin is in a great location, not far from Ely but still remote enough to give you that getting-away-from-it-all feeling. It's a very cozy cabin, especially when you have a fire going in the woodstove. It's well-furnished and is in a great spot on Garden Lake with a nice dock for lake access. It's a wonderful place to relax, swim, fish, observe wildlife or just curl up in front of the fire with a good book. Check-in was super-easy and the cabin had everything we needed. Highly recommended.

Nice place

Well the bird feeder was great saw so many different variety birds and 3 hummingbirds. Went for a walk at dusk on the trail leading up to the cabin and saw a bear eating berries! While we didn’t catch any fish or get any bites this place is perfect for canoeing. Had fun swimming right off the dock and the sunsets were amazing. Loved it.

Great private getaway on Garden Lake

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. We made friends with the chipmunks and rabbits and bought birdseed for the birds, and filled up the hummingbird feeders while we were there. We saw and heard several loons on the lake and really enjoyed our canoe trips. Ely is a great little town! If you’ve ever seen the movie with Chevy Chase, called Funny Farm, Ely reminded us of the town of Redbud. We have two suggestions. Provide more towels and get at least a queen size bed. Sleeping in a double bed can be challenging with your partner so you don’t fall off! Lol! This cabin is very secluded and tucked away in the woods. FYI bare right when you see the first fork in the road! My husband and I really wish we lived on this property!

Little House in the woods

There is a lot to like about the Lake Country property. It's location near the Boundary Waters makes it a great find. While great, it's not perfect. I'll share my pros and cons. PROS: Serenity, great views, good location, nice dock, satellite TV, comfortable beds, lots of wildlife CONS: Small kitchen with outdated appliances and bakeware, Air conditioning does not work, Although mostly clean the place needs a deep cleaning (cobwebs on ceiling, stains on walls) Mosquitos were beyond horrific to the point that any outdoor activity was impossible. Cutting the grass and spraying the property are necessary going forward. The supposed 400lb bear in the neighborhood was quite unnerving. In closing I'll say that it's a nice little place (it is little) in a great area on a beautiful lake with outstanding sunsets but considering what else is out there I'd say it's over priced

Perfect setting, the cabin had everything we needed. We will be booking again soon.

We had a good weather window to do some fishing and hiking in the area and it was a perfect spot, not too far from town. The fishing was good on the second day we were there.

Beautiful location

The property is gorgeous! So secluded yet close to town. Took a wonderful morning walk down the driveway then the gravel road. Just sitting on the bench on the dock listening to the silence was so peaceful. Watched an otter swim around in the bay. The cabin has everything you need and is so cute! The host was a gem to work with, responding immediately to any questions. We had a great time!!

Remote cabin with all amenities

Remote cabin located approximately 10 minutes from Ely, MN. Beautiful and private house on Garden Lake. House has all amenities you could need and has unlimited possibilities. Only thing I would critique is the cleanliness and lack of window coverings. House could use a little more detail while cleaning considering they charge a $125 fee. It could also use window coverings on the first floor. It has random shades on half the windows…..

Great Week

Wonderful cabin located in a convenient but private spot. Amazing sunset views. Great home base for exploring nearby trails and lakes. We paddled just about every day. If you want canoeing but need more comfort than a wilderness trip, this cabin is a good compromise.

Lovely on the lake

The property was just as described. Very remote but Verizon apparently just built a new tower nearby so I had great cell service. I did have trouble finding it in the dark. Google Maps didn't recognize the location at all and sent me to the other side of the lake. Apple Maps did a little better but didn't get me all the way there. Thankfully I ran into some nice people who helped me get there. It was an adventure but worth it!

Beautiful, peaceful stay with lasting memories!

This was our third year vacationing at this cabin and, as always, we absolutely loved our time! I have been visiting the Ely area ever since I was 6 years old. My family growing up always vacationed on Bear Island Lake and I cherish those memories so much! Then when I began to have a family of my own I knew that I wanted to carry on that tradition for my own children. My husband and I have a current 4 year old and a 2 year old and they love coming up here just as much as I did as a kid! This cabin has been the perfect vacation spot for us! We are able to continue with my tradition I have always cherished but in a new way that encompasses my own family now for us to form our own traditions. With our third stay at this cabin, my whole family looks forward to it every year! My daughter counts down the days to come up to the area just like I used to do as a kid. This cabin has come to mean a lot to my family and we couldn't be happier! To anyone looking for a beautiful, peaceful stay that will form lasting memories - this cabin is it! We couldn't recommend it more!

Beautiful place to stay, quiet and comfortable.

This is a small cabin with basic accommodations for 4 adults or small family. The pictures provided give an accurate description of the interior space. There is so much to do here, the possibilities are endless. There are games, puzzles, birds to watch, fishing off dock, sunbathing on dock or the deck of cabin. Bring your boat or rent the one the owner has available. There are things to do in Ely, 8 miles away. We shopped, ate out a few times, hiked some local trails and just completely relaxed in the cabin. The lake was very cold with lots of rocks and weeds grown up near shore so swimming was scary, even off the dock. I would say also that the canoe provided is not one I would use, so bring your own canoe, kayak, or boat to really enjoy the Lake. This was a lovely cabin on a lake and we enjoyed our stay. I think the rental company should probably update their instructions for getting to this cabin, there is a fork that goes left and right, so go right at that fork until you see the cabin sign and address on the left side of that road. The cabin needs a deep clean and some real shades for most of the windows for privacy and to shade from afternoon sun.. The cabin is dusty and a little cluttered, that is why 4 stars for cleanliness. They have a satellite dish but no HBO, never found a working HBO station at this cabin. We have TMobile and my cell service was ok, but if you need internet service it is limited at best. We enjoyed our stay at this cabin on the lake, it was perfect for my family. Ps, you need a new coffee maker in my opinion. Thank you! Cheryl Sisemore and Jim
