A slice of Old Florida

We had a great time at this updated, isolated cabin! No road noise. It was very relaxing just sitting on the porch with the family and walking the trails. The AC units did struggle with the summer heat as the cabin was not well insulated but we all agreed, we’d love to stay again in the future.

Total Get Away!

The perfect spot for nature and seclusion! The cabins (there are 2, dating back to 1890) are nestled in the back of an organic blueberry farm, very serene surroundings. The cabin is charming, a “true” log cabin. Huge wrap around porch, lovely bathroom with both a claw foot soaking tub and shower. While it is not insulated, there are several heating options available if going in the Winter. We enjoyed our Weekend while in town for a family Wedding!

Ladies Getaway

We thoroughly enjoyed everything about Jubilee and our wonderful stay in the Governor’s cabin! We had the most relaxing time, walked about 2 miles each morning, picked wild flowers, found some wonderful farm to table restaurants, and had no trouble getting in and out of Tallahassee for the football game. The drive in and out is a gorgeous drive under canopies of beautiful trees. We will definitely be back! Thank you for sharing your property with us!!!!!

Peaceful and beautiful area with wonderful historic cabin

We stayed 3 nights for our anniversary and it was wonderful! Gorgeous property and very peaceful. The cabin is historic (read up on it if you don’t know the background) but updated just enough to be very comfortable. TV, internet (weather can affect it a lot) full kitchen, great tub and nice shower. Covered porch was good for relaxing and we had a fire in the fire pit our first night, which was so nice. We have a lot of respect for the late Governor, so seeing his gravesite along the waking trail was meaningful. Lots of privacy but close enough to go to Tallahassee or Thomasville in a fairly short time. Highly recommend this property if you like this environment - it’s worth it!

Great place to relax

Arrived at night which made finding the cabin a little difficult, but it was fine once I clearly read the directions. Cabin is clean and has all the amenities you need. The property is quiet and peaceful. About 30 min drive from FSU.

Historical

Here's what stood out for me, and what I would want to know before booking: Nice information documenting the history of the property and its owners along with info on the area, including directions to a nearby store. Cafe lights on the porch were on, welcoming us (I brought a projector light for outside that didn't get unpacked). No insulation, places between the boards where you could see outside, yet there were NO bugs and the indoor temperature was maintained with no effort. Beds and pillows were very comfortable (high praise from someone who always brings a pillow from home). Plenty of seating inside and out, 2 TVs, KCup coffee maker and every cooking tool you could think of. We cooked every meal and had no need to use my pantry supplies or tools. For those of you that rent often: the check out instructions were two sentences!!! For some reason, the drive from FSU seemed so much nicer than when we stayed at the Talquin Lake area, I think because of the beautiful canopy road. Great property!

Historic Well Apointed Cabin

We had a lovely week staying in the Governor's Cabin. The grounds are heavily wooded with a beautiful pond near by, adding to the wonderful night sounds while sitting on the covered porch. The cabins are situated in a working organic blueberry farm, which you can experience during your stay. The peace and tranquility is transformative. We throughly enjoyed our stay.

Rustic Revival

we were looking for solitude in a natural space, yet we are not campers. this place fit the bill in every way! from the comfy beds and convenient kitchen set-up to the quality well water and plumbing facilities we were more than pleased with it all. we probably put more than our share of mileage on the comfortable rockers on the wrap around porch as we listened to all the different bird sounds, and viewed all the surrounding flora and fauna. once we pulled ourselves from the rockers , we did enjoy the trails around the property and lake. but what really makes this property most enjoyable are the hosts who are the very definition of the word hospitality! they are extraordinary stewards of the land and historic cabins. they demonstrated a keen desire to care and share, attentive to us as their guests. it is rare to find folks who have a love for their own place yet also have a global view of inviting others to share in the enjoyment of their place. having the opportunity to meet others who share in the care taking of the properties verified this fact. they haled from places afar and voiced their respect and admiration for the hosts. so even if the cabin had somehow been a disappointment, which it was not, we still would have rejoiced in meeting such fine folks. that in itself would have been restorative!

Perfect rustic cabin getaway

Our family had a great stay in the Governor cabin. The property is way back from the main road so all you hear is nature outside. The cabin was very comfortable inside and easily slept our family of 4. Great place to get away from the daily grind and sit by the fire pit making s’mores and memories. The cabin is far enough away to feel secluded but close enough to anything you’d need to do on your trip. Only wish we had timed in better for the blueberry season but only more reason to go back!

Wonderful place!

What a lovely place to relax and enjoy nature! We stayed several days and took advantage of all the benefits of the property including walking trails, a cute little lake with a dock and canoe, a great fire pit and grill, and we loved visiting the blueberry fields and pear orchard. The cabin was well-equipped, the property was beautiful, and the hosts were warm and welcoming. We hope to visit again!

Rustic Cabin Game Weekend Family Getaway

This cabin is just what we wanted for a quick weekend getaway. We were looking for a place close to campus to visit our daughter and go to the game; yet, far enough out to enjoy the peace of the country. We found it here. We appreciated the owners had a fire ready to go in the fire pit. We enjoyed hot chocolate and smore's by the fire both nights. The cabin was clean and very homey. Our only regret is we wish we would have had more time to explore the property. Look forward to visiting again during blueberry season.

About the host

Hosted by Bud Chiles

Host profile image
Bud and Kitty Chiles inherited Jubilee when Governor Chiles passed away. We planted and cultivated forty acres, about 125,000 bushes of blueberries over the past 8 years. We are thrilled to have thousands of families visit Jubilee to pick our fruit and now to enjoy weekends in our vintage cabins.

Why they chose this property

Jubilee is a wonderful example of best practice growing and land management. We have been awarded the distinction of outstanding environmental stewardship by the Florida farm Bureau. It is truly a gorgeous 210 acre Red Hills Property.

What makes this property unique

Jubilee is surrounded by 15,000 acres of conserved land, Red Hills Quail Plantations, but only 15 miles from downtown Tallahassee, and downtown Thomasville Ga, the best downtown in all of South Georgia! The property is tranquil and restive, teeming with birdlife and biodiversity, and carefully managed for climate stewardship.
