This was a great place to use as a base for checking out everything from volcanos to Hilo. We loved the symphony of jungle sounds here: coqui frogs, birds, insects and rain.
Great location with OUTSTANDING on-site management!
The host lived above us and was VERY responsive to all our questions - we really enjoyed our interactions with her❤️ She even let us know of a wonderful collection of beach volleyball players that made our day/week even better!

Rustic unit
Host refunded the reservation costs as we were not comfortable to stay at the unit. Unit is very rustic for the price point.
Great little home that met our needs. Hosts were attentive and quickly fixed a bed that needed attention. Had all the basic kitchen needs, lots of ice in the freezer, sand toys, snorkeling gear, shampoo and conditioner. Especially loved access to a washer and dryer, which is so helpful when on a trip with little kids! In a super quiet (if you don't count the coqui frogs) neighborhood. A little bit out of the way from Hilo, but the traffic isn't bad and the price was great!
The pictures listed are all accurate. We had one issue and the owner promptly fixed the problem within minutes. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and condiments and the bathroom was also stocked with shampoo and conditioner and towels. There were beach towels and toys provided. My only complaint is that the bed needs more support. Other than that, we would stay here again

Basement in the jungle
It was not the best. It had some charm and all the essentials, but many areas were it properly cleaned. There was dirt in several areas of the high ceilings and there appeared to be some mold. Some of the towels had clumps of soap on them. There was a caterpillar on the pillow we slept on, and mosquitoes biting my son and wife. My son got a bad rash on his face, we’re not sure of the cause. However, the host was extremely sympathetic and responsive to our bad experience. Also, they refunded a bit more than half the cost of the stay, and the appliances worked fine.

Liked: Communication
This place was a good location and the host leant us an iron. but I have chemical sensitivities and there were artificially scented things everywhere in this place. 2 minutes inside and I felt like my nose had been scoured with steel wool. Clearly they are concerned about moisture or have a mold problem because there were three heavily scented moisture absorbing things around the place. They also asked the guests to do a lot of their own housekeeping (strip the beds etc) and the dog whistle k-cup coffee was not appreciated.
Quiet (except for the frogs which we loved), easy location, timely communication.
Loved the snorkeling equipment, and boogie boards. Laundry facility was very convenient.

I stayed here 4 nights and it was quite comfortable. Note the apartment is in a very wooded area. You can hear the Hawaii coquille frogs at night. It did not bother me but if you were a light sleeper it might be problematic. Kelly was super helpful. I rented the car which was a very good deal.
We had a great time visiting Hawaii! Quiet neighborhood, nice jungle sounds at night. Thank you for allowing us to use the sand and beach gear. It was nice not having to purchase our own. We took advantage of the rental car option. The owners were very helpful with any needs we had. Thanks for letting us enjoy your property 😊
First, Many other Verbo listings were unresponsive or backed out at the last minute which wasted valuable time and created stress. This listing answered promptly and hence received our business. We were generally only there to sleep. The descriptor "Tropical rainforest" was realized at the location.
There were no problems with the property. We offered a couple small suggestions to the vendor which we thought helpful. The property offered the bells and whistles of other properties including ocean toys, a washer/dryer, and internet access etc.
Phone interaction with Verbo was helpful but later being bothered repeatedly by Verbo to rank and promote their service was unwanted and annoying.. Our obligations as guests were met via our good conduct and making the payment IMO. The accommodations were not 5* but met our needs effectively and satisfactorily. Thank you to the owners for accepting our reservation. If Verbo wants customer rankings, they ought to offer some incentives to do so.
It is a beautiful property surrounded by greenery. The neighborhood is beautiful as well. And very quiet. We barely spent time there...just coming home late, trying to stay quiet getting ready for bed and then up in the morning for breakfast and getting ready to leave for the day. It was great for our family's needs and having the car was definitely a bonus and the reason we decided to stop looking and just book it.
