I tried to cancel 11 days before my arrival. I was told that I would not be refunded any of my money so I kept the reservation. My son arrived there just to find out that the owner had already leased to someone else. They double dipped. I filed a complaint with VRBO and they sided with the owner. This is illegal. I won’t be using VRBO any longer as well. I have always had an A rating and never had this problem before
Very close to the lake. Had alot of the comforts of home provided. My wife packed the whole house for nothing. During this dry period the private pond was too low for use. But it wouldve been super cool if it wasnt. Not owners fault. Loved the covered porch.
Ok, if you like 'roughing it', but not quite up to our standards...
There are some nice features with this 'cabin', for example, the front porch is quite nice, and the kitchen is also very nice & well equipped. But that's about it. The cabin feels like the owners currently live in it and just left for our stay. A lot of their food items and personal toiletries in the house. One bedroom is locked off (I assume the owners BR). The structural integrity and building standards of this cabin is quite rough. Definitely, not very professionally built... Some of the walls are dirty and marked up, the living area was messy with a pile of antlers in the corner, the BR door has a big gap at the top, and overall 'feel' was very worn, rough, and lived in. The only bedroom available is not the best I've stayed in... I believe the owners are staying on the other side of the wall, in a garage -like structure. It felt weird. The 'pond' in the picture is deceiving. Nothing like what you would expect. Tiny, and Almost - polluted. This cabin is not anywhere near lake Somerville, certainly not walking distance.
Unfortunately, we were really let down.
We were looking for a getaway with some relaxation. Weren't looking to go out and do anything, except eating and some shopping, LOL. We did just that. Sat by the lake with some adult beverages and relaxed. Watched movies and visited. Thank You!

The stuff they don't tell you in the listing.
This place is in a good spot for lake adventures. We really wanted to like it. But there were just too many issues.
When we arrived it was about 80 degrees inside. We turned the large window AC unit down to 70 to start cooling it down. The small AC in the bedroom wasn't on when we got there. It was almost 100 degrees outside. We turned it down to 70 also. That was about 1pm. It finally cooled down (72) about 9pm. When it started getting hot the next day, it warm back up inside. Not comfortable for us older women.
The internet was down when we got there. It started working again the next morning. The neighbor said it's always slow when it's a holiday. Ours was nonexistent.
The lower bunk bed the owner said was a queen turned out to be a double.
The real kicker came when we read the House Rules Book.
It said "We don't recommend drinking the water, although it is safe to shower and clean with". It was straight up foul and nasty water! And the final straw was the instruction to "Not flush any toilet paper"! Not even poop!
We went ahead and stayed 1 night since we had already unpacked. We were woken up by a tractor dumping gravel about 15 feet outside our window. They are building a new driveway. At 8:30 on a Saturday of a holiday weekend.
When I brought up some of these things to the owner, she told me I probably didn't know how the AC units worked, and the construction was over and all that was being done was some wiring. With a tractor?
We left.
PS- The deer do come out to feed in the evening. It's cool, but not enough to make me put up with having to bag up my dirty toilet paper.
My family enjoyed our getaway here. Location is close to Birch Tree State Park (literally at the entrance of the park). The cabin was clean, with all the comforts of home. The suggestion to bring deer corn was excellent. Who knew it was so relaxing to watch tons of deer walk up to the patio and eat the corn. Definitely recommend.
We had a great time at the cabin. The deer were neat to feed every day. The cabin was very nice and comfortable. It was close to a boat ramp which we used. We would definitely stay again.
This tiny little bunk house cabin is perfect for a quick weekend trip. Our family had a great time for a post graduation get away. From the feeding of the fish in the mini pond from the 2 story dock to feeding the deer that come right to your door. We would visit again.
Great property. Clean and lived the decor. A/C worked great and there was always plenty of hot water for showers. We brought deer corn and put it out and in the evening the deer came with in 10ft of the porch. We had 15-20 deer all the time for several hours until the 50lb.bag of corn was gone. We bought more for the next night.
We highly recommend this cabin. Awesome property. We will be back soon!
The property manager was very helpful and responsive to questions. Deer would walk right up to the patio. I liked the decor of the cabin and definitely will come back
