Privacy, character, good taste, and convenience

We greatly enjoyed our weekend in splendid isolation within this spacious, tastefully decorated, comfortable and well appointed house. The living room is larger than it appears in the pictures, and there are games, puzzles, and books in good condition. The separately controlled baseboard heat in the bathroom is a nice touch. The kitchen is spacious and well appointed, and there are plenty of outlets throughout the house despite it being originally an older house. John was very responsive to our questions. Overall, we highly recommend. questionsdesphouse

Great getaway in the Woods!

This place was a great place for us to stay on our vacation. Secluded outside of the city, and a short drive down a gravel road, it really feels that you're lost in the woods, but in a good way. If you're up to visit the Gunks, Angry Orchard, the Hudson river, love the beauty of the outdoors, and have other family or friends to visit in the area, definitely consider this home. Host was very responsive and had everything ready for us.

Beautiful and Quiet

After leaving another incredibly dirty house midway through our work trip to NY, this place was a welcome relief. It was clean, the property was amazing and quiet, and the house possessed all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. Hopefully, they'll get screens on all the windows soon because we would have definitely had the windows open if there had been screens on those cool nights. Highly recommended!

Comfort in the woods

The house was the perfect spot for us to stay while attending a high school reunion near West Point. The house had everything we needed. It was a comfortable spot to relax when we were there. It was also a great spot for seeing things within a 3 hour radius as several states are accessible from here including Vermont, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. There is great hiking in the area as there are multiple trails in the area including the Appalachian Trail.

Wonderful quiet haven

Great house in a beautiful wooded area, perfect to enjoy nature. The house is spotlessly clean, and has got all you could need for a comfortable stay. The property is huge and has several trails you can follow. There was a storm when we were there, which caused a blackout, and the owner immediatly arranged for someone to come and turn on the generator. My family had a wonderful time making s'mores over the firepit in the backyard, walking around and enjoying the peace and quiet.

Why they chose this property

If you want privacy with peace and quiet away from people then this is the place. No one will know that your out here other than your hosts.

What makes this property unique

So many unique benefits to this newly renovated old homestead. The home is made from stone and wood harvested from the property over 100 years ago. Doug fir wood flooring, stone fireplace even has an old farm sink from 1920. The mudroom upon entry is inviting with nice overlooking views of the long driveway and a small meadow.. Upon entering the main room you'll notice all the windows face the North ridge. The granite in the kitchen matches the old stone and gives the warm feeling that it too came from the property. The main dining area feels as if your sitting in the forest with it's natural pine interior and wall of windows. Just out the slider door and your on the deck that also faces the hills to the north and with a short walk down some stepping stones your at a fire pit. There are several on property hiking loops that are permitted to be used at certain times of the year dependent upon forest management practices please ask the hosts if they are available. The town of Carmel has several supermarkets and local restaurants. Shopping for any need can be found within a 30 min drive in any direction.
