About this property

Sparkling Year Round Waterfront Oasis - Huge Dock, Deck, Level Sandy Water Entry

It’s time for you to “reset” on spectacular Balch Lake in West Newfield, Maine (just over NH border). We welcome you to our escape, “The Reset Button,” a year-round, waterfront sanctuary beautifully located in the highly desired lakefront wooded, neighborhood of Shady Nook. Our home has 100' of privately owned, clear waterfront and has an enormous, oversized, new dock. Water entry provides a safe, quiet gradual sandy beach area and plus serves as your own launch spot for your toys – or to go off and explore in the two kayaks and one canoe provided.

"The Reset Button" has perfectly mixed year-round comfort with the peace of lake life. Upon entering, you will find yourself in one large, open concept room that allows everyone to gather together with ample space. A gas fireplace will keep you extra warm on chilly nights and the enclosed porch offers a great space for coffee on early mornings and a huge dining table that seats eight. With no lack of places to sleep you can choose from any of the three bedrooms on the main level or a few kids can sleep up in the loft! “The Reset Button" is perfect for entertaining and family memories!

Balch Lake is a huge 704 acre lake in the Seven-Lakes area known for fantastic fishing, swimming, and all kinds of boating during the warmer months and great ice-fishing and snowmobiling in the winter months. Plan on exploring the more than 10 miles of shoreline, including several islands and peninsulas, and take advantage of nearby trails for hiking.

We provide you with two kayaks and a canoe, life preservers, and floating loungers. We also offer lounge chairs, Adirondack chairs, a hammock, and inside - a day bed in the sunroom overlooking the lake for those who just want to sit back and relax. In the evening, enjoy a family cookout seated by the lake before gathering around the fire pit. Perhaps you can get in one last game of cornhole or horseshoes while watching the sun go down!

**Please note that, while we provide blankets and pillows, we DO NOT provide sheets/pillowcases or towels.** This enables us to keep our cleaning costs lower. Also, while we do not allow pets, this is not a dog dander free home.

We also do not allow boats to be put into the water and launched at the property.

For those rainy days, enjoy WIFI, streaming TV services, books, and an abundance of games and puzzles.

While spring and summer are great times, our home is meant to be enjoyed all year round! The area is renowned for its brilliant autumn foliage and, with undeveloped forest views, what better place to do some leaf peeping than from the warmth of the sunroom overlooking the lake? In the winter, take your snowmobile on the nearby snowmobile trails, venture out onto the frozen lake with your skates, or drive to one of many local ski mountains for skiing or snow tubing! Get to shopping in 20 minutes, sandwiches/ice cream and groceries/farmers market in 10 minutes, and a number of restaurants in 15-20 minutes.

Whatever you decide, enjoy the relaxation! We welcome you to make memories and "reset" here just like we do!!

Perfect getaway

Like the title says, it was a perfect getaway. The neighborhood was quiet and great for just relaxing. We were able to introduce our 3 year old to fishing and were comfortable letting both our kids run around on the little beach. Rebecca and Mike were great hosts with very quick communications. I would recommend this spot to anyone who asks and would go again :)

Restful Week

We loved every minute of our stay. We kayaked, canoed, swam, fished. When it rained we played games from the game chest and watched movies from the movie collection. My grandsons chased a big fish all week! Almost caught him more than once. We enjoyed the smores that the hosts left for us. I personally loved getting up early, making coffee and sitting in the deck enjoying the beautiful view. Beds were comfy, plenty of room and well worth it. Thanks Mike and Rebecca!

About the host

Hosted by Rebecca & Mike

Host profile image
Hi - We are Rebecca & Mike, just a couple navigating this nutty life in a perfectly imperfect way. We live in the Seacoast area of NH, so within 50 minutes to our escape on Balch Lake. We both work full time, are trying to raise two strong but sanely human sons, adore our crazy pets, read too much and travel as much as possible. We're really pretty chill about most things except when people aren't straightforward or compassionate. I'd say those are our two pet peeves. We're thrilled you're looking at our home, as we love it and the vibe of "resetting." We hope you do too.

Why they chose this property

Why here - we've been searching for a lake place that is convenient to things we love to do - hike, bike, ski, snowshoe, explore, and do day trips. We also wanted a place that has very accessible access to the water and the inside of the house for my aging parents. Their days of global travel are done, and we wanted to provide them an escape they can enjoy easily even with impaired mobility.

We love the lakes and everything about them - the loons, kayaking, sunrises and sunsets, long days and quiet nights. There's something about a lake that just makes all the insanity of the world dissipate. Our neighborhood in Shady Nook sold us, as did our quiet island / not island. Frankly - people in our neck of the woods are just - nice. They love where they live, love their lake, love their wildlife and just love to be kind. With waterfront at your feet and miles of lake ahead of you - what is there not to love.

What makes this property unique

We're not sure it's up to us to tell you what is so fabulous or unique about our home and spot on Balch Lake. We'd like to hear that from you. We do feel confident that once you arrive at "The Reset Button" - you'll feel what we do. But we'd love you to tell us what is unique, what else you'd like to see there, how we can make your time as great as ours. :)
