Seal Cove - Historic Waterfront

Our calendar is updated in real-time & our nightly rates are accurately displayed. Simply enter your desired dates and click 'Book Now!'

Situated on six acres with 1,600’ of private shoreline, this quintessential Maine summer cottage also boasts a private dock – you don’t have to go anywhere to enjoy a Maine vacation!

Trees line the private drive leading up to the house, ensuring privacy on this six-acre peninsula with 1,600 feet of ocean front. There is ample room for parking in the circular drive, with a stone-based fire pit to the east for roasting s'mores.

Access the ocean from your own private float, complete with a swim ladder. Get ready for kayaking, canoeing, birding, and fishing along a beautiful coastline that winds in every direction. A private enclosed shower awaits outside, or soak in the ocean-view tub inside.

LIVING AREA

Enter the foyer under the covered porch and you’ll find a walnut-accented den, outfitted with a flat-screen TV. Kick back on the sofa (which converts into a full-size sleeper). French doors provide added privacy.

The classic knotty pine living room boasts beautiful views down the New Meadows River and across to Merritt Island. A wood-burning fireplace provides added ambience. There’s room for everyone to gather here or spill out onto the wraparound deck.

KITCHEN & DINING

The dining area is focused around an old English oak table that seats 8. Outside is a screened dining space where you can enjoy home-cooked meals.

The chef in your group will love the modern kitchen. You’ll find plenty of counter and cabinet space, an electric stove/oven, two refrigerators, a toaster, a toaster oven, a blender, a coffee maker, an electric kettle, and a microwave. If you're in the mood for barbeque, head outside and fire up the grill.

BED & BATH

The master bedroom features a queen-size bed and clear views of the water and woods. There is plenty of closet space, a mahogany dresser, and desk.

Across the hall is a bedroom with a twin-over-twin bunk bed. The original antique wallpaper gives this green-hued room a special charm.

Down the hall is the distinguished third bedroom, which features a king-size bed, wood-paneled walls, and a built-in desk with ocean views.

The fourth bedroom has an authentic New England feel with original wallpaper, a full-size bed, and ocean views. To the right of this room is a bathroom with a tub/shower combination.

The fifth bedroom is up a private staircase from the kitchen and has a king-size bed.

A second full bathroom has a walk-in shower, deep jetted tub with ocean views, and a washer/dryer.

THE LOCATION

Seal Cove is in the Sabino Colony area of West Bath. There’s a town ramp at the end of the drive to launch small boats, and a meeting house to gather with others at potlucks and fairs.

You can bike or hike right from the house on quiet roads that lead to a 1,000-acre Nature Conservancy reserve at the Basin. Nearby beaches at Popham and Small Point offer a wonderful place to unwind. Bath and Sebasco Estates have golf and tennis on beautiful courses.

Pick up Maine ingredients for your culinary delights at the Plants seafood market, Bath Natural Market, Shaws, or Bracketts. Both towns offer up some of the best restaurants in mid-coast Maine.

Flying in? Seal Cove is a 15-minute drive from the Brunswick Executive Airport and 50 minutes from the Portland International airport. Concord Trailways buses connect to Portland and Logan International Airport in Boston. Amtrak services are available from Brunswick.

If you are bringing a dog on your trip, the pet fee is already included in your quote when selecting ‘Yes’ to pets. No more dogs are allowed.

Magical spot

This was our second summer here. A magical spot, spacious home, and well-equipped kitchen. We saw a bald eagle right on the property! The island across the river is fun to explore, and there are beautiful state parks nearby. Property manager was incredibly responsive. The starter supplies could be better stocked, but communication with manager was easy. Renters with young children should take note that there are very steep stairs, a porch railing that’s enticing to climb, and many doors to the outside (where there is easy water access), and so constant vigilance is needed. Also, there was no ladder for getting on and off dock into and out of water, making swimming ill advised.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This house is wonderfully situated on the river and is fantastic for beginner, intermediate and advanced kayaking as the river opens up into more open water. My only complaint is that I wish that the house kitchen was better equipped. We love to cook in as well as go out. Nothing is really provided in terms of basics such as salt, oil. Also, the knives need sharpening since dull knives are dangerous to use. Also, I wish that the beautiful window in the kitchen that looks out on to the water, had a screen. We could have done well with the ventilation.

Beautiful view

No doubt it’s an older home but the views are unbeatable!!! Let it be known, there is NO central air, we went out and bought 2 box fans (left them behind for future renters) to help circulate the air. Not a deal breaker by any means, it gets cool enough at night that it doesn’t make a huge difference. We also bought a pack n play to accommodate our 11 month old (also left behind). Probably not the most ideal setup for those staying with small children but we made the most of it!! Can’t beat coffee on the wrap around porch and dinner on the screened in porch all while overlooking the water and watching the boats drive by. We did a fishing charter near by and caught a fresh striped bass and ate it for dinner. If you’re staying, make sure to go down to the dock at night and check out the stars!

Amazing property but poor cleaning staff

This is a beautiful property and amazing older home! Our only issue was with the cleanliness that the cleaning company provided...there were insects in coffeepot, on floor, and counters. I would absolutely stay here again, but we needed to clean before we settled in. Should not have been charged for cleaning service! Otherwise, fabulous property!!

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: There are no words to describe the beauty overlooking Mill Cove! Bald Eagles, jumping fish, the gorgeous sunsets, and the great views of boats and lobster men ferrying through the small channel . The house was comfortable and convenient, with a great kitchen and plenty of fridge and freezer space for our large brood of kids and grandkids! Bath is such a quaint, delightful town with great shops, restaurants and a brew pub ! We loved the 2 dining areas, especially the screened in porch and large dining table!

Overall a great experience

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The century home was in good condition and well equipped. The views from the back wrap around porch were amazing. We saw bald eagels fly by, seals playing in the water and a porcupine walk by as well. The only negative really are the mattresses. The worst was in the room with bunk beds. The bottom bunk only had a box spring with no mattress. Fortunately for us we only need one of them so our daughter just used the top bunk. But, overall we were very pleased with our stay.

Quintessential Maine house and view

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend here. We did luck out with spectacular weather but it would be great even with a bit of rain. We loved the big wrap around wide porch with all the rocking chairs, the screened porch with the big table, good kitchen, nice gas grill and a fun area for a fire and s’mores with the whole Milky Way above. This house is much nicer than the pictures can portray.

Indescribably beautiful oasis

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: One would need to see this property to truly comprehend its incredible beauty. With sweeping views of the New Meadows river and numerous opportunities to access the water, it is challenging to discern if the property itself or the home is more phenomenal. The home is well equipped and charming in the most classic, beautiful way. The layout allows for privacy for guests while also providing communal spaces for cooking and socializing. This property was perfect for getting together with family in a safe way during COVID-19 social distancing requirements, as the porch, with unparalleled views of the water and the unoccupied island across the water, allows guests to sit and enjoy the views and experience the wildlife that the area has to offer. During our stay, bird watching directly surrounding the property, as well as heron and eagle sightings provided constant entertainment. Swimming off the dock, sitting around the campfire, or enjoying the amenities of this beautiful home provide a full experience. The location feels like a private oasis, though it is easily accessible to Route 1, and only 15-20 minutes from Bath. The owners were incredibly friendly and helpful, as well as Turnkey, checking in to make sure that we had everything we needed throughout our stay. Due to the Pandemic, there were a couple of instances that Turnkey needed more information from us, but any glitches were worked out quickly and rental assistants were friendly and helpful on the phone. We encountered Turnkey's cleaning staff on our way out, and they were very friendly and polite as we finished packing our belongings to leave. The home was very clean and we felt confident that care had been taken to ensure our safety during this difficult time. We could not recommend this property more highly, and hope to rent it again. It is simply impossible not to forget your worries and feel incredibly relaxed while sitting on the porch of this beautiful historic home.

Perfect 3-family summer getaway

Secluded, stunning setting, peaceful sprawling property perfect for our families with toddlers. Walked in the woods, spent loads of time on stand up paddle boards, explored Merritt Island on foot, picked berries, and just slowed down. Property is clean, well equipped, and gorgeously situated.

Great location

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Amazing location, we were dumbstruck by the beauty of the ocean. And the bald eagle nesting in a tree in the yard was fantastic. Place was clean. Too bad no outdoor chairs were available to bring down to the swim float. Life jackets were recommended, but none were provided. We were told not to bring the bath towels down to the water, but since we flew in, we didn’t have our own. We were instructed to compost all raw food waste, and hang our clothes on the clothesline instead of using the dryer. The rules were so extensive that we really didn’t feel welcome, not like guests, more like intruders. These folks could use some pointers about hospitality.

amazing views, great location, and Maine charm

wonderful place, amazing views, full of charm and character but clean (though upstairs shower curtain should probably be replaced. )with all amenities needed. Fantastic location , remote feel but 10-15minutes to rte 1 and Bath. Master bedroom king twin bed closest to door does slope down toward head.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Stayed here with 6 other fellas for our annual boys trip. Upstairs shower didn't work, and honestly this property looks larger and cleaner in the pictures. But no other reason to complain. Guest book spoke about a tee-pee somewhere on site, but we never found it. Maybe they were just messing with us?
