The space is very good, and the local is quiet.
However the house itself, specially the bathroom have a problem in drainage.
Need an update, is a good place for a short stay.
The house is actually very nicely remodeled and was very comfortable and clean with plenty of space. It’s not tremendously well stocked, and we had to make the late night grocery store run the night we arrived because there wasn’t any laundry detergent or shampoo/conditioner.
Location-wise it’s very convenient with excellent access to the zoo and Busch Gardens, both of which we attended. But the neighborhood felt pretty sketchy, especially at night. The house itself is secure and we felt safe inside, but there was definitely some shady stuff happening on the street corner on the way up the street. The property itself is good though.
Fine for a frat party, not great for a tidy family
In order of can’t easily be fixed to can and should be:
Crazy low 6’ 0” clearing just in front of the front entrance.
4” step into the second bedroom.
Low ceilings throughout and cramped bathrooms.
In-wall light switches behind doors.
The shower head in the tiny, second shower sprays down the back shower wall.
Nightstand lamps don’t have cords long enough for outlets.
The lamps switches are broken off.
Lampshades are broken, as are the blinds.
The ceiling fan in the main bedroom is broken.
A random combination of soft white and daylight white bulbs.
The walls and surfaces are dirty and chipped throughout.
On check in the smell of cleaning solution is overpowering.
The first pot of coffee on the first morning tastes like the cleaning solution and burns our throats
The refrigerator froze and ruined our food.
The host was familiar with this problem. it had happened before. So they left a cooler out in front of the house “just in case”. It was filthy, with rotting ice cream inside.
Repair person came out and worked on the wrong problem. More hassle ensued. I asked for a modest $150 refund. The host obliged, but could have offered more if they had cared to.
Dryer’s door latch is weak, and loads fail when door opens. Washer and dryer rusting out. The exhaust for the dryer vents into the house.
There's more unpleasant about the space to recount, but I'm at character limit. In summary: seems like the host cares about maximizing income with very little pride of place.
Booked this home in January 2024 & paid large deposit.
When logging into VRBO the day of booking in July, I see there is a remaining payment due that I never received a message or prompt for. I immediately paid the balance & messaged the host.
Host replied that they didn’t know they had any booking (despite it being confirmed 6 months prior) and there was an inspection that should be completed by 5pm (1 hour after checkin). No problem!
We arrived at 5:15 with 4 people (buyers & inspectors) in the home. The house smelled of mildew & wasn’t clean. It was also over 80 degrees in the home. The inspector told us that the AC was broken & not scheduled to be fixed & being sold in that condition. I immediately messaged the host.
We did not receive a response & the buyers & inspector were still in the home working for over another hour.
When the host finally responded hours later, I requested a refund because we were forced to find another home. Host has continuously refused to refund despite the home not having working AC, not being clean, smelling of mildew & having appointments scheduled past our arrival.
Everything was as listed. Plenty of games and activities that were not mentioned. Only downside was surprise Xbox not working. Not a big deal as it was not listed. Ideally located as well. Not far from anything.
Amazing location, literally minutes from everything Tampa! I’m a housekeeper so I have a habit of checking the cleanliness of places I stay and I was genuinely shocked at how clean this house was! I wasn’t expecting it to be dirty or anything, but the thoroughness of the cleaning done there was beautiful! I was absolutely not disappointed and would love to book this again in the future.
If you are looking for:
1. a clean, basic place to crash at night
2. a decent sized kitchen
3. access to a washer and dryer, and
4. quick access to 275
AND you do NOT care if the property does not have a really nice yard to enjoy because you are out doing things, and you are ok with some quirks and some minor oversights, this place will work for you.
The inside of the property was clean, neat. The bedrooms are quite large. Kitchen is large and easy to prep meals in. Washer and dryer are old but they were fine.
The quirks and oversights:
- several light switches are behind the doors. In the bathrooms, you have to walk in and shut the door somewhat to reach the light switch’s.
- some of the table lamps were not plugged in and even when we did plug them in, they did not work. One lamp on the desk was not plugged in and it didn’t matter because there was no plug in anywhere in that corner anyway - the lamp appeared to be for appearances. Still there was plenty of light.
- we searched everywhere - could not find garbage bags to replace the garbage bag we had used.
- there were no paper towels anywhere so we bought a roll so we could wipe things up.
- there are signs that ask you not to dispose of anything other than toilet paper in the toilets but one bathroom had no waste receptacle so we found a plastic grocery bag and used it.
- we couldn’t find a remote for the tv in the back room - turns out the remote for the tv in the front room also works for the back.
- the front and side yard had not been mowed in a long time. Grass was taller than my ankle by a couple of inches. The back yard is just a plain, sparsely grassed area. If you are looking for a place that has a beautiful garden area to unwind in, this is not it.
The owner was kind and prompt in responding to questions. The Nest Thermostat got the place quite cool. Ice machine worked great. Again the inside was reasonably clean - the outside was less neat.
Still, this place would be a clean, reasonable option for people so long as the quirks and hiccups don’t bother you.
Jennie was amazing at communicating with us from begining to end. The home was perfect, spacious and great for large groups. Great location, close to everything!
The overall property was beautiful, spacious, the rooms were huge. There were games to play, plenty of TVs, cleaning supplies, etc. I would recommend you stay there.
We rented the property to go to Bush Gardens. It is 5 miles away and made for an easy commute.
It is also very convenient to the airport. If you like gastro pubs the Mermaid is fantastic.
Such a cute reno! This house was very-well appointed and delivered on everything that it promised. It’s super-convenient to everything in Tampa and only a short drive to many of the area beaches. Best part: the 3 bedrooms with 5 separate, full/queen beds for everyone’s comfort. Highly recommend!
