Merlin Hütte offers 4 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, a renovated kitchen with new appliances, wood burning fireplace, washer and dryer, and a magical A-frame of windows with a view of the woods.


At Merlin Hütte there is a season for everyone.

Shanty Creek has a portfolio of five 18-hole championship courses at one propery. Hawk’s Eye (Robinson) , Schuss Mountain Course (Bowen), Cedar River (Weiskopf), The Legend (Palmer), and Summit Course (Diddel). In addition, other excellent courses are located nearby.

Winter sports are covered too. Schuss Mountain offers 42 runs and 8 lifts and includes 3 terrain parks. Summit Mountain offers 11 runs and 3 lifts and includes an Alpine tubing park. There are plenty of trails for cross country skiing, fat biking, and snowshoeing . Those who love snowmobiling the Jordan Valley Trail System is just minutes away from Schuss Village.

Fifteen minutes away are the crystal clear waters of Torch Lake and in our opinion the best mountain bike/hiking trail in Michigan, Glacial Hills.

Bellaire is a 10 minute drive and is an awesome little town with the famous Shorts brewery and Mammoth Distillery as well as many other great restaurants and shops.

Excellent centrally located house!!

House was very clean, owners were responsive. It was perfect situation for our golf trip- we were located 5 minutes from all of the shanty creek courses. We would definetely stay again. If arriving after dark bring a flashlight as it is pitch black and hard to see and locate the house. Overall 10/10

Great for a Family Reunion

There are three floors so every family had some space of their own. A nice addition was the pass to the pools. Our littles always voted we start the day (or some time during) with the pool. Thanks, great memories were made here.

Great Place to stay

Everything was clean with plenty of extras. Great long weekend getaway with adult family members. Loved how everything was labeled and explained well. Great communication with host. Would stay here again. Thanks for sharing your home with us!

Great Stay!!

This place was perfect for our group of 7 guys that were in Shanty Creek for a golf weekend. Ideally located, clean, roomy, comfortable. We had fires every night after our golf days. A great time. Owners were very accommodating. Only recommendation is to make sure you leave the key in lockbox per the instructions when you check in, we locked ourselves out while unpacking. (Note to owners - a spare key at a neighbors or hidden on site would not be the worst idea). But overall a wonderful experience - would definitely recommend.

Nice place

We enjoyed our stay. Upon arrival there were a few bugs here and there which is typical for a house in the woods. It didn’t deter us, we just took care of them. Everything else was clean and easy to use. Could have used a vacuum cleaner just to help keep the upstairs vacuumed. There was a push non electric vacuum but it was full of rice from previous use. The beds were very comfortable which was a plus! The rest of the place was nice and we enjoyed our time!

Michigan vacation

We had a wonderful time staying at this location with our family. The place was an open layout, clean, provided basic household needs and welcoming. The host was extremely easy to work with and friendly. We would recommend this place and location to others. Even though it is out of the owner’s control, our only hiccup was the pool at Lakeview was extremely dirty and outdated. We decided instead to stick to the beach which is a close drive. Overall, it was a great trip!

Golf perfect

We came up to golf. The location of the property was perfect. Five to ten minute drive to several of the courses in the area. We played two rounds each day and this allowed us to go back fix lunch and freshen up in between rounds.

Cute Chalet

Our family enjoyed our stay at Merlin Hutte. The property owners were very kind and helpful. The Chalet has a rustic and cozy feel. It was in a quiet location close to the local attractions. It’s also in a nice central location for day trips to popular Northern Michigan cities such as Traverse City, Chalevoix, Petoskey, etc. We have small children, so the pool access was a nice perk as well. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Magical chalet ideal for skiing Schuss

I had this trip planned in October for my family to ski the end of the season and could not be happier with how things worked out. We had a couple of friends join us since there was enough room for 8 easily and had great meals, skiing and memories. Very well provisioned with modern appliances and updates. The fireplace is incredible, with an additional lounging area down stairs for entertainment. Cable/satellite was listed on VRBO but was not available for college basketball games over the weekend, so make sure you have subscriptions for the entertainment you require from TV. Cable internet and Wi-Fi was sufficient for our group. Thank you Lindsey for sharing and great communication. Would definitely return if possible.

Great Cabin in a Nice Area!

My group and I really enjoyed our stay at the Merlin Hütte! There were tons of things to do in the area and the Cabin was very accommodating having everything we need. Would definitely recommend!

We really enjoyed staying in this property. It was well located to our destination and other attractions that we visited. Great 4 bedroom cottage. Awesome deck, firepit and location. Beds were comfortable. Fully stocked, cleaning company didn't restock toilet paper so I would make sure to bring some. Overall great rental. Loved the decor inside and the two separate family rooms.

Awesome house in the woods near Torch & Shorts!

The location of the house was perfect for our Torch Lake getaway. We fit 10 adults comfortably. We hauled a pontoon and dropped it in at Butch's Tackle and Marine every day (free). We visited downtown Bellaire to hit up Shorts, Mammoth Distillery, & Bee Well Mead. We had a bonfire every night. The house was beautiful. Our only small issues were we needed toilet paper right away, there was only 1.5 rolls in the house and the walk out basement needs the dehumidifier running probably 24/7. I had to empty the tank every day. I would definitely stay here again and Lindsey seems like a great rental owner!

We loved being there!

It would be helpful to have a handrail at the steps areas. Some boards were loose as one person tried to grab onto something and just had 2 partial knee replacements and I fell down 3 steps with no major injuries. Hand rail is really needed. New air conditioner was being fixed. We would do it again.
