This was NOT a 5-star experience. It’s a cute house, although, a bit smaller than the pictures lead you to believe, located on a small side street. This property received low marks mostly due to the owner. The backyard was not completely fenced in for our 2 dogs as the property owner communicated—two garbage cans don’t count as fencing. Communication with the owner was very difficult & at times non-existent. The final confirmation arrived with no door code, so we messaged him days in advance of leaving but didn’t receive it until the day before check-in, & only after contacting VRBO. Most importantly, there was sewer construction in progress. Signage indicated there was no parking on the entire street starting July 11- September 30. This wasn’t communicated until the day before we arrived, but only to “park in the driveway” due to “road construction”. Our first 36 hours were nice—quiet… BUT, come 7 a.m. Monday morning, we all awoke to the sounds of the street being dug up and the house LITERALLY SHAKING! The sewer project manager came to the door to inform us we would need to move our cars if we wanted to be able to go anywhere. Doug was contacted with this information, but it fell on deaf ears. His solution was to offer us an additional day free—what was that going to do? Just give us another day of construction & no access to the driveway, walking a couple of blocks away to get to our cars? Not to mention the house shaking & the noise?? This continued for remainder of our entire stay--7 am to 4 pm each day. In addition to this circus, the AC was no longer blowing, this too was communicated to him but he did nothing about it. Pictures were sent of the construction & thermostat so he understood what was happening. Nothing. On our last full day the water was shut off with 20 minutes notice sending 3 adults scrambling to shower (only 1 shower). Again, I informed Doug thru text. All he wanted was the phone number of the foreman. We left for a few hours only to return to heavy sediment in the toilets, having to run the water until it was clear. Doug did nothing to try and resolve this horror show. No offers were made beyond an extra free night. VRBO tried to get ahold of him with no avail. We spoke once during our stay, I asked why he didn’t let us know way in advance of this construction, his response was how was he supposed to know? “I don’t live there”—maybe not, but it is your property and it’s your business to know what is going on.
