Not ready for people

This property has potential, but not ready for guests. We arrived and the dooor was open- because it wouldn’t latch closed. We put a chair under the knob to keep it closed. The property is next to an Air Force base- so be ready for noise. If you like watching aircraft, it is fun to watch from the front porch. When we arrived, we found dead flies in the glassware and crumbs on the table. Upon closer inspection, the bathroom had not been cleaned and the counter, sink , and stove was not wiped down. The queen bed that was advertised in the listing was only a full bed and the 2 other beds were folded up in the main room. There was a pond next to the A-frame, but no boating equipment. The only water sports gear were 3 old lifejackets. It looked as if they were upgrading a hunting cabin, but it needed more cleaning. It needed screens on the windows and a front door that closed. We will not stay there again.

Can’t trust the owners

It’s not clear if the owners live here or not, but I would not trust their ad. It’s a great location, fun for the family and we enjoyed it because we’re used to camping in tents. Take that for what it is. We expected a functional bathroom and kitchen, we did not get this. Power and water did not work, dead bugs and signs of not seeing the property in months. Their response “you’re the first people to stay this season”… it’s June. After texting back and forth with the owner we got the kitchen to work. They were responsive, but wanted me to troubleshoot the situation. Water did not work. They had me refill the tank, which I did. It worked for about an hour and then it was empty. They sent someone to fill the water tank after lots of confusion, but it was empty by the morning. It was pretty inconvenient to rent a cabin that advertised a full kitchen and bathroom for a family to only find out it had not been maintained in months. They did refund us, which was appreciated, after our kids couldn’t use the toilet in many days. However, we got a request for a payment for cleaning because they don’t check their property in more than 3 weeks and some wildlife spread trash on the property. If it were me, I’d check it after “check out time” when they only offer a tiny trash can to dispose of things in.

Perfect vacation spot

The cabin is beautiful and perfect location to North Pole and Fairbanks. Very quiet and restful. We were happy to find this location as it is close to my son. The Salcha Store just down the road has everything you need. We look forward to our next visit.

Right price

This was a great place with a few details needing to be clarified. The wood stove is not to be used until October. The kitchen utensils are sparse, not for 6. It doesn’t sleep 6. 4 adults and children on the floor. Toys are in shambles and the lake is tiny. None the less, we enjoyed ourselves and our child loved catching fish with the net. Gorgeous view.

Great little place

We came up to Alaska to visit our Airman. It was close to base and very peaceful. We would stay again.
