Mequon visit

We’ve enjoyed our 8 day stay at Barb’s 1940’s Craftsman style home, complete with coved ceilings, varnished unpainted oak built-in cabinets and woodwork throughout, facetted glass door knobs, prairie school style leaded stained glass windows, chamfered bevel edged mirrors, paneled oak doors and original patina maple flooring. We appreciated having the use of the garage, given the January -12 degree weather. Welcome to Grandma’s home sweet home! Thank you, Barb, for sharing your home with us!

Nice enough

Adult children stayed for a nearby family event. They enjoyed the house and said it was comfortable. One bit of confusion….listing shows 2 bedrooms but description shows 3 bedrooms. There are only two..the “third” is apparently a sofa bed in the living room. Otherwise was ok.

Fit the basic need

This home served as a place to cook basic meals and sleep while visiting family in Cedarburg. The kitchen, bathroom, and extra linens were well stocked. We encourage the property owner to give the place a thorough deep clean and potentially update some furniture. The home was fine for our 2 and 4 year old kids, but not ideal for a crawling baby. The place has great potential with minor improvements! Thank you!

Average Property

This property was convenient for us. It is near nice subdivisions but it is an old home on a main street. Communicated with property manager prior to arrival and had very timely responses. During the visit, I communicated once and took over a day for response. It was a nice size but could definitely use an update (paint, floor refinish). We paid the same daily amount last yea for slightly smaller but was much nicer.

Good location and nice layout for family

We stayed here for a week over Thanksgiving. You’ll have two bedrooms (1 with a bunk bed) & a pullout couch. There is one full bathroom; 1 half bath. A tenant lives in a unit above this VRBO. For us, this VRBO worked well because we took the main bedroom, my son took the couch and daughter used the bunk bed. Positives:Location is convenient to Germantown and other suburbs. Also, there is an organic grocery store and gas station within walking distance. The heat worked well and we were comfortable on warm days.Had a well equipped kitchen, large refrigerator, nice TV, and plenty of space. Wifi also worked well. What could be improved:Generally, I would say the place is clean and a decent place to stay. But, there are ways it could be better.1) pillows, towels, etc.: It seemed like these were just random items the owner had on hand. It would be better if they had newer white towels and more comfortable pillows. Really, just some better basic items would make it feel a little nicer on that point.2) Minor updates: Obviously, the house is old and it was priced fairly to reflect that. But, over time, I would suggest making some updates to the wood flooring, bathroom, etc. In the bathroom, it would be good to have a nicer shower head and curtains. It was a little awkward to use. Similarly, the toilet lever did not work well and had to be manually turned to top the water from running constantly.Overall: We liked it. We would definitely come back.

Worst experience I've ever had with VRBO

This stay was booked on May 11th. During the booking process it said I wouldn't be charged until closer to check-in. Actually my credit card was charged seconds after I closed the app. I didn't think much of it as I was planning on using the booking. After settling in we discovered that the password for the WiFi was listed incorrectly. After a day we figured out the actual password and got it to work. The TV was another issue. It never worked. I tried contacting the property manager several times regarding this issue and got lip-service. Even when I told her I was not happy, she didn't respond for 8 hours, only after I sent her another message. She said she would call the owner but we never got a response. All of this is recorded in the message section of the app. Regarding the overall "condition" of the property, it looked like the owner did the minimum to get approved. Definitely not VRBO standards. I have video of all the concerns, available on request. All in all, I question whether I'll use VRBO in the future.

Great house for a great price

We really enjoyed our stay, the house met all of our needs and the property owner was very quick to reply to any questions that I had. It was a very pleasant stay!

I am a local that has a horse ranch and have had several VRBO by default. My children (5) lived in the area and then fell in love and moved away. That is how I got in the rental business. I ended up caring for their homes while they were away. I set up the property to be a VRBO and really enjoy it more than being a long term rental. People are generally so happy. I am glad to be able to help others so this works well. If I can help in any way let us know.
