Hillside Retreat in Wooded Setting with Deck & Private Firepit for Relaxation

Welcome to Hillside Retreat! We’re so glad you've chosen this peaceful escape in nature. Here’s a guide to help you get settled and make the most of your time here:

The Tiny House
Size & Comfort: The tiny house offers a cozy atmosphere with a full-size bed in the bedroom. If you’re looking for a larger bed, please check out our other listings: The Cottage or The Chapel.

Air Conditioning: The house stays cool thanks to the shade from the trees. However, if you need extra comfort, there’s a window AC unit available.

Décor: Enjoy the rustic charm of white wood, plaid accents, and Amish-made log furniture for a true countryside feel.

Outdoor Fun
Walking Paths & Wildlife: Explore our 14-acre property with beautiful walking paths through the woods. You might spot bunnies, deer, or even turkey along the way. The lower lawn is a great spot for observing deer, especially during the early morning or evening hours.

Firepit: Across the driveway, enjoy a firepit with wood usually available for your use. Let us know if you’d like us to set it up for your stay. We provide cozy outdoor blankets (found in the basket near the glass sliding door), so you can stay warm as you relax around the fire. And don't forget the s’mores!

Porch & Dining: The porch is a perfect spot to relax with a drink, or use the bistro table for a meal outdoors. A citronella pot will help keep pests away, ensuring you enjoy the fresh air.

The Kitchenette
Stocked & Ready: The kitchenette is equipped with a two-burner stovetop, toaster oven, microwave, crockpot, toaster, and Keurig coffee maker. You'll find a full set of cookware, dinnerware, glasses, and mugs.

Coffee & Essentials: We’ve provided starter coffee pods, sugar, and creamer. You may need to pick up more depending on your length of stay.

Grill: Let us know if you'd like to use the grill, and we’ll make sure it’s set up for you.

Entertainment & Relaxation
TV & Movies: You can enjoy local channels with an HDTV digital antenna, and we have a selection of DVDs available. If you’re looking for more options, just send us a quick text, and we’ll be happy to provide additional titles.

Games & Reading: Unwind by the fireplace with a good book or puzzle. We also provide a selection of board games and reading materials for your enjoyment.

No Wi-Fi: This is a true getaway, so there’s no Wi-Fi. However, most cell carriers have service in the area.

Additional Amenities
Laundry: If you need to use the washer and dryer, let us know, and we’ll arrange access to ours.

EV Charger: We’ve added an EV charger for your convenience if you have an electric vehicle. Feel free to use it during your stay.

Please Note:
Wildlife & Hunting: While you may hear occasional gunshots during hunting season, please rest assured that hunting is not permitted on our property.

fall weekend

We spent the first day hiking in nearby Allegany State Park. We were pleasantly surprised that a camp fire was ready to be lit when we arrived. The place was spotless and just as described. We spent the night around the fire pit. Thanks for the supplied wood. The place had everything we needed and the bed was comfy. The owners are on the property but we did not see anybody. We had a very relaxing weekend. Thank You

Amazingly quite!

Beautiful laid back in the woods. Loved the privacy and the comfort of peace and quite. I have been married to my husband for 34 years and we never knew this place existed and it's so close to his childhood home. His own family didn't know this place existed. We definitely will be back. This is way better than staying at a hotel that's a no brainier. I was up for an event that took place nearby and I didn't want to travel 40 minutes each way from a hotel. This place popped up and I couldn't resist the price and all the amenities. It's only our second time doing a VRBO and it was an awesome experience. Thank You! I don't wanna tell my friends because then it will always be booked. LOL..JK....Can't wait to come back and stay longer and do some hiking...

Hello! We live and work in the Cherry Creek, NY area. You can find me working at our hardware store just a mile down the road or puttering around the property. Hosting gives me the chance to meet new people and share the beautiful area we call home. When I'm not working or hosting, I enjoy spending time outdoors, tinkering with projects around the property, and soaking in the peaceful atmosphere of our community. It's rewarding to offer a warm and welcoming space for guests to enjoy and relax!

Why they chose this property

Tamara (my wife) and I decided to open our property with three short term rentals because we wanted to share this tranquility with others. We believe there’s something deeply restorative about being able to escape the constant demands of technology and the fast pace of modern life. Our space is perfect for those who are yearning to disconnect, unwind, and reconnect with nature, themselves, and the people they care about. The setting is ideal for quiet walks, sitting around a fire pit, or simply enjoying the stillness of the evening as stars fill the sky.

What we enjoy most about this place is the opportunity to offer guests a chance to slow down, breathe deeply, and recharge. By opening our home, we invite others to experience the same peace and joy that we find here every day. Whether it’s through a peaceful retreat, a getaway with loved ones, or simply the joy of being in a space that feels untouched by the chaos of the world, we’re honored to share our sanctuary with others. Hosting here isn’t just about offering a place to stay; it’s about creating a space where people can truly escape and find a sense of balance and tranquility.

What makes this property unique

What makes our property truly unique is the perfect blend of natural beauty, serenity, and the opportunity to step back in time. The garden here is a hidden gem, peaceful and tranquil. Whether it's the colorful blooms in the spring or the lush greenery throughout the year, our garden is designed to provide a quiet, restorative environment for anyone looking to reconnect with nature. The walking paths around the property are another highlight, offering a chance to wander through the peaceful woods or just enjoy the fresh air and open sky.

But the true charm of our property isn’t just the space itself—it's the sense of community and history that surrounds us. Just a short walk or drive from our property, you’ll find local Amish shops, where you can experience craftsmanship and simplicity at its finest. From handcrafted furniture to homemade jams, quilts, and baked goods, the Amish community offers a taste of a slower, more intentional way of life. Nearby antique stores are also a must-see, filled with treasures that tell stories from the past. It's these local experiences—rooted in tradition and quality—that make our property stand out from the rest.

What we love most is how our guests can immerse themselves in this peaceful, slower pace of life, while also enjoying the nearby attractions that make the area so special. Whether you’re strolling through our garden, walking along the paths, or exploring the Amish shops and antique stores, there’s always something to discover. This unique blend of nature, history, and craftsmanship creates an experience that you won’t find anywhere else.
