About this property

Refreshed 1970's Chalet - Perched on the Saco River. Minutes to Attitash.

Freshly renovated and overlooking the Saco River, this unique open-plan base camp is your home to the White Mountains.

The great room and kitchen are united with a 110” long kitcehn island that will host your dining, imbibing, game-playing, puzzle solving and family hang outs.

This space is complemented by a remote control gas fireplace, ceiling fan, slider to the rear deck and high ceilings. Perfectly suited to get you rested for every kind of adventure you seek, and all the needed comforts to help you melt into the night after a day in the mountains or in the river.

Located toward the end of a private road, with the Saco River in the backyard, the Scenic Conway Rail road across the street (operates seasonally) and the White Mountain National Forest all around, you will be encapsulated in abundant natural beauty which makes this house one of a kind.

In the warm months there is no greater pleasure than swimming and playing in some of the purest and most energizing water on the planet. This mountain fed river in the backyard will also soothe you with its relaxing sound year round and right out your window.

A true retreat, this home is nestled at the foot of Crawford Notch. 25 minute drive to North Conway & Bretton Woods. 8 minutes to Attitash. 20 minutes to Jackson. - 15 minutes to Story Land.

Featuring 2 Separate Living rooms rooms each with a fireplace / stove and a TV, there is always space for different activities or age groups.

Kitchen is appointed with everything you will need for cooking and entertaining. Dishwasher, drip coffee, keurig, toaster oven, pots, pans, cutting boards, assorted oils / spices etc.

There is a Primary Bedroom with en suite bathroom below the second living room. Full bath, queen bed, and private walk out patio. The suite is separate from the other bedrooms.

Below the Great Room and kitchen, are 3 bedrooms (twin room, middle room, & queen room) plus a full-bath #2 and half-bath #3. These bedrooms and bathrooms are accessed by *STEEP STAIRS* , which will be difficult for older guests, small children or any individuals with mobility issues. There is a sturdy handrail and the stairs are sound, but steeper than normal. Please note this in advance of booking, especially toddlers and older guests.

Bedrooms have newer memory foam mattresses and have black out shades or pull-down shades.

The chalet is super-close to the river (building set-backs were different in the 70’s). This makes for one of the most intimate relaxing front row seats to the song and beauty of the Saco River. The backyard has a fire pit and Adirondack chairs for you to enjoy your time along the river.

ACCESS TO THE RIVER is at your own risk, yet fully legal and encouraged in-season. There is a 25’ steep dirt and stone path down to the river (in summer season). There is a “wading pool” area and a waist deep pool in the rapids behind the house. You can also walk up river to Sawyer Falls and tube down, rainfall/water level permitting. Do not go in or near the river when there is ice or if it is running hard, which it does after a severe storm.

WINTER DRIVEWAY: The driveway is gravel and may be snow or ice covered in the winter. We will always do our best to have ice melt available as needed for the entry areas. Driveway is plowed when it snows 3” or more. Bring good snow shoes as you will be in the heart of the white mountains on a potentially slippery and not perfectly cleared driveway.

DANGER: We have metal roofs and snow and ice can slide off them. Please always be aware of this.

CELL PHONE COVERAGE: Verizon & US Cellular have 2 bars at the house, not great but they work. All other carriers do not have a signal. You will need to enable WiFI calling which works with our internet. If lots of devices are connected you may have issues with WiFI calling. Cell coverage is great if you drive back to the main road (2.5 miles).

Snowmobile trail is at the end of the driveway on railroad tracks, seasonal operation.

Fishing, Kayaking, tubing, and relaxing in the Saco River in the backyard.

We will be making ongoing updates and pictures may not reflect the most current state of the house.

Great property inside and out. The river was beautiful with the ice and snow. The kitchen was stocked with spices and 2 coffee makers. We loved the large kitchen island/table. It was nice to have 2 living areas with TV, games and both a gas and wood stove.

Peaceful Riverside Retreat

My family had a great time soaking up the foliage and the nature that this house provides. Updated home had plenty of room for the 8 of us to spread out with rooms/beds to spare! Communication with Drew was pleasant and when a slight issue arose he responded quickly and moved to resolve it. We would stay again possibly in the summer to enjoy some river tubing.

Scenic, Quiet, and Secluded Spacious House

My wife and two boys (8 and 12) along with two adult friends stayed here over Mother's day weekend for an impromptu mini-vacation. The house itself is beautiful inside, well-furnished, and clean. We were pleasantly surprised to find a really nice Harmon bluetooth speaker which we used all weekend. We spent most of our time at the house outside by the firepit. The location of the house being right on the river was amazing - waking up to coffee while sitting on the deck listening to the river was just amazing. I was excited to see a wood stove in the 2nd living room but didn't get a chance to use it unfortunately. WiFi was fast but we didn't really need to use it. We will definitely be back! Drew was a fabulous host and very communicative before and during the trip though we didn't need anything. Thanks, Drew!

Excellent in every way!

We were celebrating 4 birthdays with a ski trip to Bretton Woods. The location middled North Conway and Bretton Woods right on the Saco River. Property is beautiful and welcoming. Owners were beyond accommodating and gracious. We all agreed we would stay again in winter or summer. Nothing short of amazing setting us up for a great visit to the white mountains

About the host

Hosted by Andrew Lazorchak

Host profile image
'Foriver' (our house) is hosted by Chriss and Drew, mother and son team. We recently bought, renovated and updated this house with help from our family and local tradesman. We are very proud of our efforts and believe our taste to be 'of-the-times' with clean lines that complement the design of this unique home. We are glad to share this home with you.

Why they chose this property

We decided to make a family retreat for our later years that we can share with someone like yourself in the meanwhile. We use the house several times over the year and will be updating the house every chance we get.

We love this property as it is one of the closest houses to the Saco River. It also abuts by the White Mountain National Forest. The river is a natural treasure that will lull you to sleep every night, and once you have swam in it, you will be eager to get back in again. The location is secluded and we love that. The Conway Scenic Railroad goes by the house in the summer season which is always a daily highlight and timestamp for our leisurely-tendencies.

The open-plan kitchen is intended for inclusive family-time, and family-style eating, drinking and game playing. This remote retreat is dripping in tranquility. You will lose time gazing out the windows to watch the river or see the recent snowfall. The house is in a truly unique and relaxed setting. The house has many moments for communal hang outs with the right amount of separate spots for down-time. Our only warning is that time is a little different out here on the river. You will always wish you had a few more days here... so book accordingly :)

What makes this property unique

Proximity to Attitash is awesome. We love going for afternoon drinks at the famed Mt Washington Resort which is close in country standards.

Downtown North Conway is always fun for casual shopping and the area is spotted with some great dining, although cooking at home is also great and keeps things relaxed.

Snowmobiling trails a abundant in this area, and you can get on them right across the driveway.

These boots are made for walking... We have a trailhead at the end of the road that services a short hike to a 'cave' and a longer hike merging onto a trail that goes to Mt. Washington.

There is walking to 2 train trestles within a mile of the house. And an overgrown historical cemetery deep in the woods within a 30 minute walk. Hint it is off of Old Rt 302.

The Saco river is in the backyard. Take an early morning swim to jump start your day. And enjoy it's song at any moment of any day.
