About this property

Room for rent in luxury townhouse. One month minimum.

Room for rent in luxury townhouse 10 min from downtown Charlottesville. Private, locked(deadbolt), first floor entrance to your master bedroom/full bath suite.
10 min to Monticello, Carter’s mountain, and hiking trails. Wegmans shopping center is five minutes away. There is also Charlottesville's Historic Downtown Mall, one of the longest pedestrian malls in the country, with 120 retail shops, restaurants, and art galleries. The home is a short drive to the University of Virginia and the top-rate UVA Medical Center. John Paul Jones Arena is also close by for live music and entertainment. There are numerous vineyards and outdoor activities to enjoy.
The space is modern, comfortable, luxurious, spacious, with tall ceilings and lots of windows. There is a nice deck off the kitchen. The first floor is the ground entrance. You take the stairs up to the second level. The second floor includes the kitchen, powder room, living room, and dining area. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to prepare meals. The 3rd level includes the 3 bedrooms and two full bathrooms.
Quiet time is to be observed between 11 pm and 10 am. No loud music etc. NO parties are allowed at any time.
Please turn off all lights when you leave for the day! Be sure to keep the windows and doors closed. It’s stink bug and ladybug season. They will fly right in!
***This townhouse is my home where I stay when I’m not traveling(which is frequently). If you are not comfortable staying in someone’s home please do not book a stay.
Please be sure to keep the blinds and curtains closed UPSTAIRS on the "street" side of the home during the summer months.
With the temperatures in the upper 80s it's hard for the air conditioner to keep the upstair bedrooms cool when the sun is streaming through those windows.
*** The map shows the location of the house at Lake Monticello. This is incorrect! It is a new subdivision and Google has not caught up!
The street address is 3603 Moffat St, Charlottesville, VA 22902.

Fun things to do: bear in mind you can google any of these destinations on google maps for easy directions.

- A tour of Monticello- President Thomas Jefferson’s historic home is a must see. There are several good vineyards to go to as well in this area. During the busy season – fall, summer and spring it is best to call and get a reservation at this UNESCO World Heritage Site. During the holiday season Monticello is decked out with traditional colonial decorations
-US president James Monroe Highland and US President James Madison historic homes are also very good. There are wonderful vineyards in these locations as well.
- Carter’s Mountain up the street is near Monticello is a very popular destination.
- My personal favorite vineyards are Pipin Hill Farm and vineyard, Dave Matthew’s Blenheim Vineyard, Albemarle Estate at Trump vineyard. Barborsville vineyard is great too and is near James Monroe historic home.
- There is good hiking in and around Charlottesville. There are too many places to list, but a convenient, nearby trail is Saunders-Monticello trail which is very nice.
-Touring UVA/Thomas Jefferson’s Rotunda. Reservations required, but worth it!
Saturday morning farm market off the downtown mall is amazing.

Restaurants: There are many good restaurants in Charlottesville. Here are some of the most popular, local spots:

Breakfast:
Marietta Betts and Blue Moon are small, local spots and are my favorite breakfast brunch place on Sunday morning.
Bodos of course-bagel sandwiches are to die for. Tip Top is casual, and good, for budget conscious folks-in this economy I think we all are!

Lunch:
Mezeh mediterranean grill, Poke Sushi, Mellow mushroom pizza, Monsonsoon Siam(Thai), Milan(Indian). Any of the sushi places on the downtown mall are excellent. There are also chain restaurants: Chipotle, Panerra etc.

*** Near Pipin Hill Farms is a pizza place called Dr. Ho’s which serves up some of the best pizza in town. If you want to do a wine tasting at Pipen, Dr. Ho’s is a great spot for pizza afterwards.
***Michie Tavern is a historic tavern with a period restaurant serving Southern fare, plus a gift shop & tours at Monticello. The current hours are limited from 11:30 – 3 pm. This tavern was a favorite spot of Thomas Jefferson and is right next to Monticello. It’s a bit pricey for what you get, but it’s fun!

Dinner:
Maya’s , Orzos, The Wool Factory(new), Ten(sushi), Tavola, the Local, Zocalos, Continental Divide, Torchy Taco, Red Pump Kitchen, and Brasserie Saison.
*** Mas (Mas is a Spanish eatery offering tapas & great spanish wines in an industrial-chic setting with a lively bar. You should probably make reservations in advance. The shrimp tapa is great.
These are some of the most popular fine dining experience in Charlottesville: all require reservations.
-C and O, Fluerie’s French Cusine(very romantic!) are on the downtown mall – for C&O ask to be seated on the main floor for the best dining experience.
-Ivy Inn
-The Old Mill room at Boarshead Inn.

For good food on a budget:
Bodos, Take it away, Thai Fresh, Poke Sushi, Roots, Revolutionary soup, Marco Luna noodle(must get the dumplings!), Tip top restaurant(breakfast, lunch and dinner).

***Bodo’s bagels is great for breakfast and lunch. Everything is fresh and yummy. Routinely wins best sandwich in Cville. There are 3 locations.

A great experience in all aspects

The property is so comfortable and chic. Without a doubt the most beautiful place I have stayed. It also has a really beautiful view of the nearby mountains. The 5 of us had to take a group selfie and capture this view to remind us just how nice it was there. Whatever brings you to Charlottesville, the food, music, shopping, wineries/breweries, antiquing, tours of nearby Monticello, or all of the above as we did, the property is wonderful to return to at the end of the day.

Wedding Trip

We found this place to stay for our friends’ wedding, and it was the perfect space and location for the group of 6 of us. Mary Jane was an incredibly responsive host, the place was clean and spacious, and we had more than we could have asked for in the amenities. Would stay here again!

Parking and other items, not so good

First of all, the listing photo is inaccurate. You are staying at someone’s home in a myriad of condos. If you have 2 or more cars, do not park on the street or your car will be towed. Owner says, do not park on the curb, so we parked on the street across from the condo. Owner did not state to park in lined, designated spaces down the street. $200 later, we got our car out of the impound. We were just not happy with having shared refrigerator space (we got 2 shelves) 3 broken counter stools with 2 held together with tape and the other so rickety it was about to fall apart and the parking issue. Also, we paid a cleaning fee, stove and oven were dirty, several dishes were dirty, floor was not mopped and we were asked to strip the beds, put in washer and empty garbage upon our departure, which we would have been happy to do if the place was clean to start with. We paid a fee, and for what? The good things were that the seating in the living room was generous and comfy, all the appliances worked, sheets and towels were nice.

Very nice but some strange things

Nice town home, clean, good neighborhood and centrally located to the wineries. The strange part was, there was food in the fridge, prescription medicine in the cabinet. Clothes in all the closets and family photos throughout the house. It was like the owner just left for the weekend.

Charlottesville stay

The property was very well maintained, nicely decorated and highly functional. We found everything we needed with no delays. Everyone was comfortable and there were six of us. The location was not as centrally located as we’d hoped it would be. It was lovely, it just definitely required a drive to get to downtown Charlottesville. The host was very helpful and responsive. Overall a very good stay.

Convenient, quiet and plenty of space

When you’re within a mile or two of Wegmans, you have everything you need. Family of five stayed for a weekend. Getting in and out was easy. Good comm with the host. Home is relatively new, which was a pleasure. Close to stores and just about 10 minutes from downtown. Easy parking for one car. Saved several hundred dollars vs staying in a hotel and the amount of space blew a hotel room or rooms away. We cooked a little, which was very convenient. Would definitely come back here again. Highly recommended.

Wedding Getaway

I picked this property for the central location to all of the wedding events we were attending. The home was very clean and very nicely decorated. The host was great about communicating with me throughout our stay, and I can’t think of one thing we needed that wasn’t already there! We all enjoyed our stay, and we really loved the comfortable beds after all of the long days and nights of wedding celebrations! Will definitely rent this home again!

Birthday Weekend

Had the best time in Charlottesville. The townhome was perfect for my friends and I. In the morning, one of my friend's went for a walk around the complex and a couple of us set on the deck and enjoyed the sunrise, birds and quiet. Loved that the home was close to everything we wanted to do. Also one of the neighbors was having a yard sale and we purchased some nice items. close to a Wegmans which is nice. Elegant, roomy townhouse

The property is very clean and super cozy. The living room/kitchen/dining area is open and very spacious. The beds/pillows/couches were very comfortable. It has a super cute, private back deck with a bird feeder and beautiful bird friends to watch. The only drawback is only one parking space at rental, although other parking was close by and free. We just off-loaded our things at the unit and then parked. Would def stay again! 5/5 stars

Great Space, Great Location, Great Host

This is newer build in Charlottesville, a great distance to downtown. The room are good, there is plenty of amenities and everything is in great condition. It was a pleasant surprise to see some kids toys available. There is plenty of food seating for 8 people but there are 2 couches in the main seating area so may not have enough for everyone to sit and chat. There is another couch in the kitchen area for general seating. The beds are comfortable, the linens are great and the bathrooms are great. There are some checkout procedures and some very reasonable requirements during the stay.

Hi! Welcome! I made Charlottesville our home 25 years ago and never looked back. It is a wonderful place to live, explore and enjoy. I have wonderful grandchildren and spend a lot of traveling(and have used VRBO myself!) so am happy to provide a peaceful, smoke-free home to those visiting Charlottesville.
Additionally, I love meeting new people and have been hosting travelers for over 15 years.
I am a super host with a very high rating of 4.9 stars!
I am quite familiar with the town, so please feel free to ask any questions.
Best of luck planning your trip!
