great get-away place near Yosemite

I loved this house. It is in great condition and the beauty of the nature that surrounds it is breathtaking.I arrived just a check in time and was fortunate enough to experience a quick snowstorm that enhanced the views. The place is not 'updated' in the sense used by real estate listings, but things are in good condition. The kitchen was well stocked with cookware. I hope to rent it again.

Rustic cabin near Yosemite

Getting to the cabin was fairly easy, except finding the driveway. We expected the 30 step stairs, so no issues there.Getting into the cabin was a smooth process (emailed code worked just fine), and it was nice to see how spacious it was for two adults and a 15 & 11 year old kids. The cabin is located a short 40 min drive from the Yosemite Park welcome center! And there were plenty of places to stop by on the way.A couple of items of attention. The water heater located in the bedroom closet makes some ticking sound (fairly loud). I put up with it the first night, but for the second night I waited until everyone went to bed and shut off the water flow to the heater, and that took care of the ticking noise. The other issue we encountered was that after the heater reached the desired temperature it would continuously cycle on and off. After a couple of hours I just got up and turned it off altogether.Would recommend This cabin to others, but would hope for the landlord to take care of the two issues we noticed.

Recommend this Cabin

I loved staying here while visiting Yosemite. It was nice and cozy and the heater downstairs warmed up the whole house. The only downside is the drive to the trash disposal and having to park up the hill but other than that I would definitely stay here again!

Decent and well stocked

The property is decent, although arriving at night time is a caution. There were no lights and there's 20 steps down to the entrance. The parking spot designated is at the top of the driveway so be ready to unload at the top of the stairs and then park at the top and walk back down to avoid lugging down belongings. The fully stocked kitchen is a big plus! The living area is spacious. We didn't use the TV, and WiFi is pretty slow. We saw a brown bear, mama and her cub, one morning around 8AM at the top of the driveway. The beds are okay - no support. The windows can be opened but the upstairs doesn't get much circulation.

Great location inside Yosemite Park

This is a cozy house inside Yosemite Park, easy distance from the valley and other sites. The beds are old and need to be updated, you only get about 60 seconds of hot water for the shower, and the wifi is barely functional.

Nice place to stay

Clean house and sleeps four. Well labeled house with clear details . Beds are clay and kitchen utensils are good. No groceries close to home so plan to stock prior to arriving. Internet is not great and TV entertainment is limited .

Great location but needs some attention

This house is in an amazing spot, conveniently placed for Yosemite Valley and Wawona. The place itself has a very well equipped kitchen and is spacious. However, it really does need some TLC. The bed downstairs is very uncomfortable and some of the other furniture needs either repairing or replacing. It's a real shame as this place could be stunning.

Needs some improvement

Nice cabin in quiet location. Sliding doors didn't slide well. Hot water ran out quickly. Poor quality toilet paper. Bedroom window broken.

Nothing Like the picture

This property was misrepresented. There was a strong odor throughout the house and it was not clean. slept on the coach with a blanket and left in the morning. There was no phone service. They said there was a view, but it was down in the trees. No groceries or food available, so pack in your own.

nice location near Yosemite

Conveniently located between Yosemite Valley and Mariposa Grove we were able to spend 3 nights and see much of the park easily. Slider to deck could stand to be replaced or repaired, and a screen added. There's an airstream camper in the back of the driveway, and someone was staying there two of the nights, parking right in the middle of the driveway, which was sort of weird, and made it a little challenging when we arrived home late the one night and didn't want to park them in. As stated there are a number of steps down to the house, and the internet is definitely not great, but there's very little regular cell service, so it's better than nothing, but don't plan on streaming anything. Plenty of room for my husband and I are are two young adult kids - the loft was perfect for them with the two beds and half bath up there. Do note that you have to drive quite a ways to drop off trash and there was no recycling. There's an address listed next to the trashcan in the kitchen that tells you where to find the dumpster, but plan on an extra 10+ minutes when you're leaving if you're just planning to drop off on your way out. It was a bit of a drive to the other end of the development to this location. Not sure why there isn't one closer, guessing the owners either own another house down there or have friends they split the dumpster with, and it happens to be in front of this other house all the way at the end of the other section of the neighborhood, down a few switchbacks.

Health and safety concerns, cockroaches in property, review not published

There were a number of issues we experienced. All were reported to Vacasa, we've had very little response to them, and our review of the property on their website has, surprise surprise, not been put live. There was a leak in the deck doors (we couldn't open these as there was a pile of snow on the deck). Not only was this a problem because of it being a leak, but it was also right next to the TV and other electrical equipment, some of which was on the floor. We finally managed to find a number for Vacasa that worked and a maintenance man visited us the following day, and the issue was because of excessive snow on the roof soaking through the wood. Snow in Yosemite is not a surprise, yet Vacasa apparently don't deal with snow issues. The images on the listing showed the stairway down to the property during winter with snow on the ground but a clear stairwell. However when we arrived, the stairway was mostly covered in snow and in some places was dangerously icy. If a visitor was slightly unsure on their feet, the way down would be lethal, particularly if they are carrying luggage (which they would be as they’re on vacation!). No salt was left to clear the stairs until the maintenance man visited, and by then we had spent some time clearing the stairs of snow and ice. I do not believe this is in any way acceptable from a health and safety perspective. Given this and the amount of snow on the roof, there is obviously no sort of snow clearing done on the property. I noted others in this part of Yosemite had driveways and stairways cleared. We had several cockroaches in the property, including one which jumped on my wife during the night, very unpleasant and had her wanting to leave the property ASAP. We mentioned the cockroaches to the maintenance man and showed him what we thought were cockroach droppings, however he confirmed they were likely mouse or rat droppings. So not only cockroaches but also rodents, which may well have been present for a while in the property. Other issues such as poor instructions and non working phone numbers. Overall a disappointing experience, but increased by the fact that Vacasa were so indifferent to our feedback.

A perfect home away from home in Yosemite!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely cabin. It is very spacious, in a lovely private setting amongst the trees and is incredibly well equipped for a family stay. Wifi is not reliable, but hardly a problem as we were there to enjoy the beautiful scenery and wildlife. A regular morning visit from a local deer was cherry on the cake! Would love to return in the future.

Nice property

A nice home with well equipped kitchen and clean. Lack of any information about how things work etc and no firewood, which was a shame, as we arrived mid April to snow all around the cabin, but otherwise good for what we wanted
