Another good stay

Enjoyed Redfish again. Excellent location for our activities. Check-in process delayed by emergency in housekeeper's family. Owner offered rebate if we cleaned it ourselves- we declined and went elsewhere for several hours, after we put perishables in fridge. Next morning found housekeeper had decided on her own to put our container of fresh oysters in freezer ! That was very disappointing. Redfish needs a clear set of instructions re: electronic security locks, TV, and other devices.

Spring Break Alternative

This place fits our style very well which is slow-paced and outdoor-based. We fished, hiked, bird-watched, walked the public beach and just relaxed. If you are interested in the typical Spring Break scene, then this is not your place.

Redfish Cottage: Always Restorative

We’ve been coming to Redfish Cottage and the Forgotten coast for 15 years. Every stay is perfect and we are always sorry to leave.

Awesome place to stay.

The host was very easy to communicate with and was right there with a response as soon as I had questions. The place is nice and clean and perfect for a peaceful fishing getaway.

70th birthday getaway

Fishing trip in Big Bend region. Wanted something back to nature anchored by some charter fishing for a big birthday. Great place to decompress from South Florida. We were there soon after Helene, but things were pretty normal. Joe was extremely communicative and informative.

Great get away

What a great stay. Unfortunately the hurricane ran us off early but the time we were there was fantastic. Joe the owner is a stand up guy. We will be back. Love the location and privacy. Good fishing and wildlife. Incredible updates to the house. Everything we wanted.

Redfish Cottage

We had a great time. Even caught a redfish off the dock. Saw rays, blue crab, alligators, bears and an allbino squirrell. My only issue was the standing water in the back yard that you had to walk through to get to the dock. Maybe it was due to the storm that passed a few days before, but if it is permanent, I would suggest putting something there to make it easier to go to the great dock. Thank you for everything!

Wonderful place!

If you like the outdoors, and being secluded this is the place! Very nice house and a very fun place to stay. If you like to fish I myself caught 4 slot reds, a massive probably 45” red, and quite a few trout and a triple tail off the dock! Me and my wife enjoyed the place and Joe is a grate host if you have any kind of problem at all he’s on it immediately! I will be back shortly!!

The description of the place was accurate. Having water access was great. Big area to paddle kayaks around. Stunning view of the bay from house. Local beach was nice and remote.

Lovely Stay

The house was exactly as advertised and a great deal for such an amazing view and stay. We spent the majority of our time out on the pier but when you come inside to relax and refuel it was great. The property owner was always a text away and quick to respond. Would definitely recommend and stay here again.

Perfect vacation location!

We enjoyed every bit of our stay at Redfish Cottage. We could not have asked for a better experience. The home fit us comfortably and offered all the things we needed for our daily adventures. My boys (husband and 10 year old son) would have stayed on the dock all week had we not had other plans with family that live in the area. The fishing was plentiful and the sunsets were perfect! We appreciated some laundry detergent and dryer sheets being left for us and we returned the favor by leaving behind a few things we grabbed for our stay. Other than the gnats, everything was perfect! Bald Point State Park is amazing during evening low tide and Alligator Point Beach offers fun in the sun without being crowded. Posey’s has terrific gator bites, crab legs and homemade key lime pie. The Station in Apalachicola has the best Shrimp Po Boy and burgers. BJs on SGI for pizza is a must. We caught enough fish between the dock, beach and deep sea trip to eat a less for three nights and bring some home!

Nice Setting

Nice quiet setting near natural areas like parks and forests. Nice view and access to the bay. If you like shopping, art galleries, night life, fine dining and so forth, this probably is not the place for you. If you like nature and the outdoors, this is a good place. We like the latter so great fit for us.

Restful, Comfortable, Peaceful, and Beautiful

Redfish Cottage is the ideal getaway any time of the year, but especially over the holidays. The cottage is comfortable and quiet. The pier is the perfect site for birdwatching, coffee drinking, paddleboarding, canoeing. We love the convenient location and look forward to our next trip.

A Welcome Respite

This is our second time at Redfish Cottage. We were impressed by the remodeling. Great job! We love the peacefulness of the location. Easily the most rest and relaxation we have had in years. The wildlife is spectacular. I cannot even count the species of birds we saw. So many deer. And we even saw the white squirrels several times. We had success crabbing and catching redfish. Even managed some beach time at Bald Point, and at Carrabelle beach with our furry friend. A wonderful experience.

Needs AC units and house deep cleaned. Spent 1st 2 days airing the place out and had to wash the bedding/linen the 1st day as everything smelt moldy/mildewy. A/C units and ceiling in the bathroom had visible mildew. Location was beautiful, cute area to get away for awhile and loved the kayaks!

Second time

Wonderful cottage for those who favor a remote location. No putt putts nearby. No nightlife, unless you prefer seeing every star in the sky. Great fishing right behind the place. We loved it!
