Quaint mountain house

This house has all the bones to be a great vacation rental. We may have been first guests of the summer season because it seemed unoccupied from spiderwebs and old papertowels found in a bedroom. But amenity wise it was good. Good space with the downstairs and deck. Updated bathrooms. Would definitely stay again.

Quiet getaway near the lake

The house was perfect for our family of 4 and dog. Clean and well appointed, it's close to the lake and all of its attractions yet it feels very secluded. I would definitely stay here again.

Great for Weekend Getaway

Home was clean. Had plenty of room to move around in. Basement was nice for hanging out in. The road to house is steep. Highly recommend 4WD vehicle. Located near activities in Deep Creek. Only downside is no dishwasher so need to hand wash any dishes used.

House was great, property management not.

We really liked the house, it was exactly as expected and we had a good time while we were there. We had a minor issue with the air conditioning upon arrival, we reported it to Vacasa and were told that the local management team would get back to us as soon as possible. We never heard another word from them the entire duration of the trip.

A Home in the Woods

Although the home was clean, the carpets were a bit stained. The beds were on the small side (for two people). Other than that, the property is quaint, feels like home, it’s private and provides all the comforts and amenities you would expect.

Well Taken Care Of

This home was a last minute rental for us. The location was great being near the August Garrett County Fair (7 minutes) and an easy drive to the parks and Oakland. The home is very clean excepting the stained carpets in the bedrooms. We had a couple of meals and found all we needed with the exception of typical glassware (ice tea, tumblers and juice glasses). Beware that the high top table and barstools might not be for everyone, My 85 year old Dad navigated them okay but not all 85 year olds are as in good shape as my Dsd. There is a covered table with chairs outside with an umbrella. I’d stay here again. Great updates on an older home.

Cozy cabin near Deep Creek lake

We enjoyed our stay at the Birdhouse Lodge. It was quiet, cozy and had a great view of nature. The road to get there was steep and bumpy but my Prius handled it (in June, no snow). The main bed was too soft, but without the foam topper it was just right for us. The listing is accurate except that there are now FOUR TVs and nice chairs around the firepit. If you plan to cook, bring a few things (hot mitts, aluminum foil, etc). Other reviews are right about the extremely low water pressure. That seems to be true most places near Deep Creek. Still, it was lovely!

Decent

This was a good comfortable home for 3 adults that went. We had everything we needed. My only recommendation is to have the water pressure looked into. It was of minimal existence.

Great home!

The house was a very clean and roomy home. Had everything you needed for the stay. Even was able to check in early. Would definitely rent home again. The only thing that was a con was the hills you drove up to get to the home. Definitely need 4-wheel in the winter. Slow and stead wins the race. Very bouncy ride up and down the hill. Plus the fire pit is awesome but with all the leaves falling it was a challenge stepping on the rocks to get to the fire pit. Could easily roll an ankle if you didn’t step right. It was and awesome stay and would definitely rent again.

Solid 3.5 stars

It was basic, but nothing special. Technically you can see the lake from the back deck, but just barely. We had to fight a bit to get the gas fireplace to work (tip: turn the thermostat up to the max). The fire pit in the backyard is in shambles. The listing mentions the driveway, but I didn’t understand it was over a quarter mile of steep gravel roads (multiple intersections) to get there.

The access code I was provided did not work. It was freezing rain and I was out in it trying to gain access. Vacasa was able to reset code and I was able to get in eventually. Also, the gas fireplace was not working and the pellet stove in the game room was not functioning. Also, water pressure was so low because of “green” usage system it actually encouraged use of single use paper plates and plastic ware. However, overall, it was ok. It states rural, which I guess it technically is, but there were houses stacked on top of each other as in a very suburban area. It was a nice get away because it is off season and during the week.

House needs a major cleaning and whole house water filtration system

The living area, kitchen and bathrooms were clean, that's where it stops. The ceiling fans were covered with dust. For health reasons we cleaned the dust off the fans. The next issue is the front entrance area, walls and doors, is filthy, and the carpets are EXTREMELY dirty. We were embarrassed for our guests to see the condition of the interior, so I washed the front entrance area to make it more presentable. We were concerned with the color of the water; ranging from light yellow to light rust. The toilet bowls were rust colored when we arrived, which indicated they were not cleaned, I cleaned both. There is a water filter on the hot water line. The filter needs to be installed after the pressure relief valve so the entire water service to the home is "filtered". By installing the filter on one line; you're showering, laundering with unfiltered (tainted) water. Again, not a healthy situation. We purchase bottled water for drinking and cooking. Additionally, the water pressure in the master bathroom is weak. We put our guests in the master bedroom and we slept in the second bedroom which had NO TV. Why would you not put a TV in that room when you have a TV in every other room in the house? Needless to say, but I am going to say, the house is cleaner now than when we arrived. The property owner needs to inspect their property and see how poorly Vacasa is managing the property. This has no reflection on VRBO. I have photos.

Overall, enjoyed my stay. Mine was just a End of Summer getaway. Would highly recommend arriving before dark; the final road there is moderately steep uphill, on gravel, and uneven in spots. Never needed my 4WD, but i wasn't towing anything; glad i had it tho. Any good downpour of Rain(/Snow) would have pressed that into mandatory. Luckily, nothing but sunshine my entire stay. House Parking is downhill but easy. House is small & cozy, which was exactly what i was looking for. Bed1 was a bit bouncy? but after hiking trails & hitting the lake all day, i barely noticed. The big Grass area right across the road made all my dog walks supereasy. House interior did have an unexpected "No Shoes" rule for the woodfloors; sock yourself accordingly. Water pressure goes from ok to weak for a few minutes when toilets flush, but was fine once you knew. Backdeck was great for enjoying coffee/meals, or just staring off in the distance pondering life's mysteries. Has a table/chairs umbrella for a little bit of cover. Got lucky, neighbors at the next house over were very quiet & barely made a peep. Saw some random wildlife saunter thru the lower property as well. Theres a binder with basic instructions/tips for the house & the area that was useful. Maintenance and Housekeeping were all nice/responsive, which was appreciated. House is just ok, but proximity to all the best stops is Excellent. minutes from everything i wanted to hit while i was enjoying the Lake Area.

Overall pretty good

The house was great overall. My only complaints with the property would be that the water pressure is very poor and the master bathroom toilet does not flush very well. I was very disappointed with management because I had specifically asked before going if coffee filters and coffee were provided, and was told that they were, only to get there late in the evening and find that they were not provided. So we had to go out just to buy them. But it was a lovely area with deer in the yard almost all day ever day. So pretty!
