Relax and play on the Hiwassee!

Welcome to our Guesthouse on the Hiwassee River. If your looking for a quick recharge, an outdoor adventure or a romantic getaway we believe our place might just do the trick! Located halfway between the small towns of Murphy (15 mins) and Hayesville (10mins), and approximately 2 hours from (Asheville, Atlanta, Chattanooga, Knoxville, Grenville..). Built initially in 2006 as a mother in-law quarters the Guesthouse is detached from our home separated by an 8ft walk/ breezeway and is perched above the river on a moderately wooded one acre lot with 200ft frontage on the river. The Guesthouse has 1 bedroom (queen bed) and a loft (2 twins). Bedroom, bathroom, living room, kitchen/dining area are on the main floor. Guesthouse is finished with solid hickory wood floors throughout, spruce tongue & groove ceilings. The kitchen is equipped with a gas stove, microwave, refrigerator, solid granite counter tops and is stocked with everything you need to prepare a home-cooked meal. In the bath you'll find a glass enclosed travertine shower, granite countertops and heated travertine floors. If the weather keeps you indoors, there's a 50inch flat screen and a DVD player with an assortment of movies to enjoy. We also have board and card games and books . You can enjoy your morning coffee or evening cocktail on the deck letting the sound and view of the river do it's magic. The river is what brings most folks here, you can enjoy kayaking, tubing ,fishing etc, (we do not provide canoe,kayaks or float tubes) . There's also a firepit to enjoy. We are located a 20 minute drive from Lake Chatuge, where you can rent boats for fishing, skiing, or just cruising the lake. If you aren't familiar with the area, since we live here, we can help with any ideas of things to see and do during your stay. We look forward to sharing our piece of PARADISE here on the river with you.

Excellent Stay

This place was even better than the listing showed! It's right on the river, the house is immaculately clean, and the perfect spot to stay for our weekend at John C. Campbell Folk School!

Rest on the Hiawassee River

Loved this place, check in was super easy. Loved the gas stove and kitchen area. The view was beautiful and loved walking down to the river. Sitting on the deck and listening to the river was so calming. Had an awesome grill, looking to purchase one like it. Will certainly go again.

Peace and Quiet by the River

Love the sound of naturally flowing water. Here I could sit on the deck about 30 feet or so above the Hiwassee, or I could walk down a couple flights of wooden stairs and sit right beside the river. The unit itself was very nice and had everything I needed.

Pure Comfort

This was an amazing place to stay. I believe I counted 74 stairs to the river, a totally amazing trip to the water. We walked the old railroad bed until we had to turn around due to the sun going down. The temps were on the cooler side and the fish weren't biting, but that didn't stop my husband from trying. Beautiful area, beautiful location, lots of privacy.

Highly Recommend

We stayed with our 13 and 12 yo grandchildren and the guest house was a perfect fit for the 4 of us. We like to eat most meals at our rentals, and did here as well. The kitchen is roomy and we enjoyed sitting at the table whether for a meal,, or to play cards.. We found several good hikes nearby, including the lovely path beginning (and ending) at the property. We are already talking about a return trip during warmer weather when we can more fully enjoy sitting by the river and fireplace. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Beautiful riverside Guest House!

We are always looking for rentals with waterfront / fishing options and have stayed in several homes on the Hiawassee river in the past. We were a bit concerned about privacy in a semi detached guest house but we were thrilled with this property. As a retired Interior Designer I always appreciate properties that reflect the owner's pride and excellent taste . The overall design, layout, and appointments in this home are simply beautiful and the riverfront location is breathtaking! Though the fly fishing was disapointing ( the river level varies dramatically throughout the day) we really loved fishing just the same and sitting riverside. One of the best VRBO stays we have ever had.!

Really nice place!

My husband, brother-in-law and myself were all delighted with the accommodations. The location is 10 minutes or less away east from downtown Murphy and west of Hayesville just down the road in the opposite direction. The cabin was exactly as described and we were not made to feel like we were intruding nor did the owners seem bothered by our presence. In fact, Ms. Peggy offered a flashlight for us in case we were climbing back up the stairs after sitting by the campfire we built, just in case it was dark. They also told us to let them know if we needed anything during our stay. We brought 3 sportbike motorcycles and I mention this because there is a steep, gravel driveway leading up to the cabin, so going up and coming down will require some pretty good riding skills. The cabin was very clean and everything from the fixtures to the appliances is very new and updated. We cooked breakfast and dinner all 3 days we were there and had no trouble finding everything we needed in the drawers and cupboards. The beds are comfortable and the bathroom is really nice especially with the heated floor...talk about roughing it!! I would definitely recommend staying here because of the location, amenities, and value. We will be back for sure!

RELAXATION RIVER

Everything a couple could need is within this property. Private, above the garage of property owner. Secure area and surrounded by the beauty of the forest. Owner very responsive…a small issue was resolved in minutes. The river is below the apartment…there are stairs leading down. Highly recommend you are a mobile person if you choose to rent the property. The walk down to the river is worth it…very relaxing! Also a firepit with wood provided. If you choose to make your own meals, the kitchen lacks nothing in order to achieve that. But there are also a few good restaurants within a 10 minute drive. Beds are comfortable. Gas grill on your own private porch offers another area for preparing meals if you so choose. We will book again with hesitation.

Clean, quiet and restful hideaway

The picture on the vrbo site doesn't do this rental justice. Private, newly renovated, very clean, spacious, "open the windows and connect with nature", while enjoying all the modern conveniences of home. Quick store with gas located at the bottom of the mountain, beautiful scenery and the sounds of nature await your check in. Owners are very friendly, accommodating and go over and beyond to make your stay as enjoyable and private as it can be. I'll be back to this little gem next visit. I've never slept better.

Quite riverside get away

The weather was rainy for most of the weekend, but this was the perfect place to be for that. Just wanted to get away for the weekend to bring in the new year. We literally did nothing but lay around all weekend and listen to rain and the river. Would definitely recommend for do nothing, relaxing get away, or just needing pause on reality when the weather is nice.

Absolutely beautiful

The wife and I took a few days to go to North Carolina. We found this beautiful spot located right on the river. The host was very accommodating even though we had no problems whatsoever. We would definitely recommend this to all of our friends. If you’re looking for a nice getaway beautiful scenery this is the place to go. We will go again and when we do we will try to get this exact place

Loved this property close to casino. 10 minutes to Hawissee , 30 mins to Blairsville 45 to Blueridge 30 minutes to Franklin. Relaxing view of the Hawissee River .

Rested, Relaxed and Recharged

We had stayed here before, but loved it even more with the deck. Great place to rest, relax and recharge and that is exactly what we did. If you want to be on the go there are lots of great things to do in area(boating,tubing,hikes,wineries, breweries, good food).

Perfect for a couples getaway

Great space and perfect size for my wife and I. Location was easy to access, but still felt private. Easy drive times to river gorges, or just relax by the river at the cabin. Will definitely recommend!

Excellent guest house

Our stay was very relaxing. The area is beautiful, especially if you are riding motorcycles, as long as you are not trailering them up to guest house. We were told the driveway was steep however in the pictures from google earth does not show that the drive has curves. getting up was one thing but backing down with a 20 ft. trailer is another. and there is no room to turn around once you get to the top. We tried to back the trailer back up after getting it back down,because we were planning on leaving early before sunrise, bad mistake to many trees and curves, so we asked the very kind owner of the convenient store manager down the street, if we could park it there until we left the next couple days, which they did otherwise we would of been in a heep of trouble. But this was a learning experience not to rent a home unless you have a picture of the complete drive way. If you are hauling a 20ft. trailer hauling 2 Can Am motorcycles. Other than our problem with the drive it was an excellant stay. We loved the black mascot cat that was so friendly, reminded us of home and our 2 cats we had to leave behind for our trip.
