Close to nature

The Leaning Pine was excellent. My husband and I enjoyed the seclusion. We felt very close to nature and the area was very quiet. We are not used to mountain roads, but the drive up the mountain wasn't bad...just different for us. The property was very clean and we had everything we needed. We cooked and the kitchen was great and I loved the induction stove top. We watched TV, but the sofa was not the most comfortable; however, I did have a nap on it. We had a fire in the wood burning fireplace and it warmed up quickly - the heaters inside worked great too. Outside, we sat in the two red chairs to take in the view and the sunsets. It was excellent for walking and hiking - we did that daily. Jessica and Lasse did check in on us and were perfect hosts!

Great experience

Jessica and Lasse were great hosts. The property was extremely clean, well put together, and had a great view. They did a great job communicating and even kept us up to date about the expected weather. The property is exactly as it is described, a extremely nice secluded cabin with great views. I believe it is also worth mentioning that even though the driveway was relatively long they did a fantastic job of keeping it plowed and accessible.

Beautiful and secluded

Beautiful location, quite remote and yet only 15 minutes from historic downtown Durango. Well furnished and equipped, with a lot of personal touches. Jessica and Lasse were very good to work with - even helped me through a booking mistake that I made. Would love to stay here again someday.

A Welcome Respite

The property is newer, larger and more attractive than appears in the photos. Bright, clean, comfortable and well appointed. Lasse our host was very helpful. The property is surrounded by beautiful forest with great views. The road to the property is steep, but doable. Our only suggestions would be to provide a couple of folding suitcase holders in the bedroom and a curtain in the living room to cut down on late afternoon sun and provide privacy at night. Overall a very pleasant experience! Thank you Lasse and Jessica.

AMAZING!

We knew when we turned onto the dirt road, we were going to be happy. The dirt road led to a dead end, The Leaning Pine. The owners had really good communication and met us to go over a few details. We had the entire house to ourselves. It was SUPER clean, a very big requirement for us. We were encouraged to walk the grounds, and even invited to walk with the owners if we wanted. We didn't turn the tv on the entire week. We'd get up at 4 a.m. and see the stars. We saw the Milky Way! Sitting in the chairs every evening became a tradition. The bed was very comfortable with a night stand on each side. Ceiling fan and drying rack were used. It's so quiet you can hear every bird song. Plenty of hot water. I didn't cook, but it seemed every spice or utensil needed was provided. Complimentary bottle of wine and a few brews chilling. PLUS there was a tea kettle! This was one of our favorite stays in Colorado and we're already making plans to return. Less than 15 minutes from town, but it felt like hours from anywhere. The house was so relaxing, we even took naps a couple afternoons. The Leaning Tree is a gem and Jessica and Lasse are outstanding hosts.

Quiet & Relaxing

My husband and I stayed at Jessica & Lasse’s place for a little over a week. We came to play in Durango for two weekends and work remotely for the week days in between. The unit is a spacious, clean, private, and well-built “apartment” over a secondary storage garage. With a full kitchen, we were able to cook all of our meals. The giant windows on both ends of the unit allowed for a lovely cross-breeze, and the sky lights made the unit bright and welcoming. Having a wood burning fireplace was so nice - we like to sleep with the windows open and then made a small fire in the morning to take the chill off the place while enjoying our breakfast with hot tea. The bed was comfortable, the shower is pleasant, and the high ceilings made the unit feel even bigger and open. Our hosts were lovely! They welcomed us when we arrived, were attentive when we had questions, and shared fresh-baked apple fritters! Yum! We absolutely intend to stay here again on our next trip to Durango, and highly recommend it for you as well!

Awesome getaway!

Loved our stay here! It was the perfect mix of just far enough from town for some tranquility while close enough to enjoy what Durango has to offer. Jessica and Lasse were great and ensured we had everything we needed for our stay, even leaving some local items already stocked in the house for us to sample! Loved it!

Just Right!

We had a very nice stay at The Leaning Pine! The property is lovely, very clean and tastefully appointed. It had everything we needed and a few nice "extras". The mountain view from the bedroom is fantastic and the same beautiful mountain view is only a few steps from the front door and enjoyed in 2 comfortable adirondack chairs. The setting is peaceful and quiet. The bed was comfortable. The hosts Lasse and Jessica kind and helpful. It is clear they want their guests to have the best possible time. There is plenty of filtered water available from the property's well. That's the one thing I wish I had known before I bought a big jug of spring water. When the weather turned cold, it was wonderful that the hosts had already laid a fire in the wood burning stove. It provided wonderful ambiance, warmth as well as dried out my leather purse! :) We look forward to our next visit!

Beautiful sunsets

As recent empty nesters, my husband and I were looking for a quiet, relaxing getaway and this did not disappoint. We really appreciated the close proximity to town when we wanted to go shopping or eat dinner out and were far enough away from the hustle and bustle of town when we wanted to relax. We enjoyed sitting in the chairs outside every evening enjoying the beautiful sunsets and the quiet. The place was very clean and Lasse was very responsive to anything we needed. It was a wonderful way to spend a weekend away enjoying nature and Durango.
