Family and two dogs traveled from Maryland to celebrate my Grandmother’s 90th birthday in DuQuoin. Perfect place for our family and dogs to unwind after a long drive. Very clean. Had everything we needed. I honestly do not know if there was a lakefront. We were on the move when we weren’t sleeping.
Really nice house in a quiet area. Was just what we were looking for. Very clean!

Caring hosts but not what we expected
We booked the rental for 3 nights but only stayed for 1. The host was very friendly and responsive, but the property was not what we expected. The subfloors were so uneven and soft in some places that it was a trip hazard for my elderly father-in-law. There was a large & tall cabinet in the bathroom that was not secured to the floor/wall and was so wobbly (from the uneven floors) that it was a safety concern for my young child. I would've appreciated privacy curtains on the windows in the bathrooms, but that just may be a personal preference. The location of the property was quiet and secluded, but did not feel particularly safe. We are from out of state and were not familiar with the area, but we had a different kind of country setting in mind. We arrived late in the evening after 12 hours on the road, we were so exhausted and tired when we arrived and it was so late that we decided to stay the night, otherwise we would've left soon as we arrived. This seems like a popular property with a lot of happy guests, but this just was not what we expected. I should note that the host was fair with us when handling our grievances and it was clear to me that they really care.
The property was farther outside of the city than pisted. No dushwaher, No tv, 2 burners of stove did not work, shampoo but no conditioner, carpeting in bedroom trip hazzard, no adult games supplied as listed, very poor lighting, ants in kitchen, wallpaper coming off of walls.
Quiet, peaceful location. Lots of room for the kids to play both inside and outside. We made good use of the firewood and firepit. Really good value for the price. It was the perfect place to get together with family and watch the eclipse.
This house was perfect for my family's needs. The location could not have been better. Quiet and peaceful. The rooms are big and we had complimentary beverages left for us. We took use of the fire pit, as a time to catch up. Firewood was supplied by the homeowners. Each room has its own thermostat. A very nice feature. The house was very well stocked, (cookware, glassware, silverware). Other than the hot tub not being there, everything was perfect. Thank you for letting us stay in your house. We look forward to Christmas 2024 and doing it again.
This was off the beaten path, which was perfect for our needs. It was peaceful, plenty of room, and well kept. I was surprised how fast some of the trucks went down the road, but it wasn’t often, it just surprised me. Overall, it was a nice place to stay. We would stay here again. :)
We were visiting friends but wanted our own space and this location was great for our needs, just outside of town. Very quiet, loved the farm fresh eggs and other items in the fridge. Nice touches with throw blankets on the couches, nice selection of toys for the little ones and plenty of space for 5 adults and 4 children. Only one large window air conditioner unit for entire house, a few extra fans to distribute the cool air would have been beneficial. Would definitely stay at this property again!
This location was clean and spacious. Plenty of room. Would be nice to have a tv there.
Recommend putting house numbers where you can see them. Also would have been nice to have the check in information a few days earlier.
We used this same property a year ago and it more than met our needs. We enjoyed the stay so much that we used it again for this year's adventure to Rend Lake. The remodeled patio and firepit were a nice and used improvement.
We really enjoyed the stay, lots of cute wildlife to watch and very serene. Plenty of activities for outdoor games here as well. While the town seems small there's just about everything you'd need in Benton.
The home was wonderful! Extremely clean, spacious, and very inviting and comfortable. Communication with the owner was excellent. We had a great time relaxing with the family.
Thank you for sharing your house with us. It was very clean and spacious. We hope that it is available for future trips to Rend Lake.
