The New Kent Ordinary and Bassett's Tavern, Historic Luxury Vacation Rental
The New Kent Ordinary and Bassett's Tavern is a beautifully renovated historical home and tavern in the heart of New Kent County, Va. You and your guests will have full access to all 5 Bedrooms, each with a private full bath, a fully-equipped kitchen, a dedicated dining room, living areas as well as an authentic tavern once visited by George Washington on the ground level with outdoor seating and fireplaces. George Washington referred to and visited several times during the Revolutionary War. There is plenty of back yard for games and my horses are in the pasture. They love attention. Place was wonderful. The tavern that is attached is a great plus. The web site does not do the place justice. We were in awe of how wonderful this place is. A special thank you to the host for helping us on a Sunday night. Just super!
The Tavern and Ordinary was wonderful. The entire family loved having an authentic place to spend the Thanksgiving holiday. It will be remembered as a very special gathering.
We absolutely loved our stay at the New Kent Ordinary! It was clean, comfortable and had every amenity plus added bonus of your own Tavern. The Ordinary has been beautifully restored and maintained. Our little band of history buffs couldn’t have imagined a better place to stay while visiting Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown. Thank you for making it available to rent Pamela!
My boyfriend and I enjoyed a fantastic long weekend with our adult children and some significant others (group of ten). The main house had 5 bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom. There are two other buildings on the property if you need additional accommodations. These were unoccupied while we were there, so we enjoyed the privacy of the entire property.
The main house has its own private tavern - such a fun and unique gathering space. Worked especially well for us as my son is a professional bartender, ha. We loved learning the history of the famous guests!
We took full advantage of the entire space - cooked our meals in the kitchen (there is also a butler's pantry with an industrial icemaker); games in the parlor; a formal dinner in the dining room; and smores at the outdoor firepits.
Great proximity to Colonial Williamsburg and Bush Gardens (about 30 min drive) and easy/central location for those of us driving from DC, Raleigh, and Wilmington, NC.
Host was prompt and gracious with questions. Cannot recommend highly enough for a group. Hope to be back!
This house is beyond perfect, what I wouldn't give to live there! We enjoyed our stay quite thoroughly, each room is well appointed and the bar downstairs is beyond excellent!
