Restored 3BR/2BA Home in Smithville's Historic District-10 min. walk to downtown

Come stay at this completely remodeled, historic era home, located in downtown Smithville! No stone has been left unturned with this tasteful, down-to-the studs renovation. You will love the charm and authenticity of a vintage 30's home while enjoying the modern finishes and the conveniences of today.

Inside you will find an open-concept, main living space which includes: a cozy living room , a large dining table which seats up to 8, and a fully-stocked kitchen with a large island. The main bedroom has a king bed with a full bathroom attached that includes a walk-in shower. The second bedroom includes a queen bed, and the third bedroom has a twin bed with a twin trundle. The second and third bedrooms share the hall bath that includes a shower/tub combo. Guests will have the entire home to themselves.

In addition to the 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths, there is a cottage in the backyard with a king bed, efficiency kitchen, and a full bath. Please inquire about renting the cottage separately if you need a space that sleeps 2 more. The cottage is also listed on VRBO. The backyard space is shared with the cottage.

Smithville is a quaint town along the Colorado River that is the perfect spot to relax and slow down the pace. It is 30 min. from Round Top, 35 min. from AUS Airport or The Circuit of Americas, and 15 min. from Bastrop or La Grange. The home is within walking distance to Main St. where you will find unique shops, antiquing, and several (really good) local restaurants.

Parking is along the street in front of the property and shared with the cottage. If you are bringing more than 1 car, overflow parking is available. Please inquire about it if needed.

Wedding Perfect!

This home was perfect for our family attending a wedding in Smithville. We were able to accommodate our daughter and her family in the cottage as well as our good friends from out of town. Was very spacious and we did not feel cramped at all! Would highly recommend.

Fabulouse

Everything about out stay was fantastic! The house itself was amazing, but the best part was how cold the primary bedroom stayed. Oh it was wonderful! Everything we needed was in the house, and it was just so dreamy!

Great stay

Loved everything about it. The only problem we had was trying to get it cool enough. It really can use a ceiling fan between the living room and eating area and also one in the master bedroom. Thank goodness we brought fans. We will definitely rent again.

TML conference

We stayed here as a cost effective (and more comfortable) way of lodging as we attended a small towns conference in nearby Bastrop. We were in awe of the neighborhood, the homes, and the quietness of the area! The home was beautiful, comfortable, and so reasonable. The host was amazing. We will be back!

Great location and space

We stayed here as a group of four to attend an anniversary party in town. The house is clean and has a lot of space to hang out. We didn’t cook anything, but the kitchen is really nice. The house is located close to the downtown area with great places to eat. We enjoyed our stay and would pick this place again!

Gradation family gathering

The property was fabulous! The beds were very comfortable, the A/c was awesome in this Texas heat, the showers were excellent - hot water, great water pressure. The house looks small but it’s very spacious. All appliances, plumbing, electrical, and a/c was very up to date yet the house had such a charming antique feel. The art work was wonderful as were all the many details of the house. My family and I enjoyed it so much we really didn’t want to leave, something I have never said about an air b&b or hotel.

Well done remodeled historic home

This little treasure is tucked into a charming neighborhood of mostly renovated homes. You can tell loving attention is paid to each one on the block. People walk to church, walk their dogs, play ball with their kids in the yard, and ride bikes. Everyone smiles and waves as you pass. Located just a couple of blocks off Main, restaurants are close and plentiful. Golf carts have stickers that allow them to drive on the roads, and many are parked up and down the blocks of downtown, where people stroll while sipping frozen "slushy" cocktails, beer, or wine. We recommend Honey's Pizza. The house is restored with modern conveniences and a ton of antique charm. The place is just as pictured but feels enormous due to the high ceilings. The one caveat is that the backyard cottage shares the back porch and is only about ten steps from the backdoor. If privacy is an issue, rent the cottage as well. It's darling, too! The beds were incredibly comfortable, the fresh ground coffee in the morning was divine (along with the selection of snacks and breakfast foods), and the bathrooms were clean and modern. This is the place you are looking for. We can't wait to come back and explore more of what the area has to offer and wouldn't dream of staying elsewhere.

About the host

Hosted by Wendy Griessen

Host profile image
We live close by in Austin and fell in love with Smithville a few years ago when a good friend provided us with a grand tour. We were blown away by the charm of the town and the homes within the Historic District, the quality of the restaurants, the quiet streets, the proximity to hiking and cycling in the State Parks, and exploring the small communities within 30 minutes in every direction. Exploring became a refuge for us during much of COVID times, and we became hooked!
We hope you love our home and this area as much as we do.

Why they chose this property

We were looking for a property in the area and found this by accident when we rented it from the previous owner for a Round Top show. They had decided to sell and we were lucky enough to be the buyer and the recipient of their gorgeous renovation.

What makes this property unique

Well appointed, fully stocked kitchen
Super open floorplan, ideal for groups of 6-8
Walking distance to down town
Flexibility of having a detached guesthouse to rent
An awesome, local host
