This is a one-in-a-million place to stay. The location is fabulous. The house is beautiful, and it is very much like being in your own home. The furnishings are classic French Country with a lot of period pieces. The owners manage the property and are really great people. We are fairly frequent VRBO et al renters and this is best place we have stayed and the finest experience we have had.
When staying at the property, you get the feel that the owner is sharing her home with you. The owner walked us through the property and had a story to tell of each room and its contents. She encouraged us to make this our home during our stay, and it was!! It is spacious, relaxing and inviting. We plan on returning!!
This rental is beautiful and so much fun! The house is full of beautiful and quirky artwork, along with hundreds of books. We had a lot of activities planned for the area, but next time I would be happy just staying in this home, reading all day, and enjoying the beautiful surroundings! Joan and Brian are lovely and very helpful hosts!
The property is impressive and the house is full of interesting antiques and trinkets. Excellent location with a beautiful view. Very quiet and relaxing. Walk in the vineyard was excellent and there was plenty of room. Tough to get rides from town so work that out in advance.
Can’t even adequately describe how amazing this place and Joan are. Simply amazing. Made our wedding even more outstanding getting to come home to such a beautiful property.
Our group of 10 had an amazing time. The property was stunning and the home fit us perfectly with plenty of extra space. All amenities were amazing and the kitchen had everything we needed to make dinners at home. Only call out is to make sure all of your transportation (to vineyards/airport) are scheduled in advance, it was difficult to get Uber's to come up the mountain. I highly recommend Platypus tours.
Our group of 9 had a great time. This house was amazing both inside and out. Brian was very easy to work with in answering any questions; and Joan was so gracious to meet us, show us around, and share her home with us. The sunrises were beautiful. Everything that we needed was at the home. The house had plenty of space for our group. We couldn't have selected a better place to enjoy our weekend in Napa. We would definitely recommend this place to others; and if we have the opportunity to return, we would stay here in a heartbeat.
We had a great time at eh home, it was a group of 10. The accommodations are unique, and if you like quirky antiques from all over the world this is your place. I am not saying its rustic, but its rustic chiq. Overall we had a great time, Joan the host was a pleasure to meet and visit with as well upon entry. Be aware, the drive up the mountain will take you a good 15 mins to get to St Helena, and if you think of biking, you better be in Tour d France shape!
This is not your normal rental property. If you are lucky as we were to stay, you should jump at the opportunity. The photographs, while they are beautiful, do not do her house justice. You are instantly transported to a European villa. Every aspect of the house has a story behind it, and Joan was so gracious to show us around at the start. The house is impeccably clean and leaves you with a real sense of feeling home. Your every need or want is already anticipated before your arrival, and you will find that you are dealing with incredibly generous hosts. Joan renting her little piece of heaven to you is a great act of charity, as you will find it is a once-in-a-lifetime experience rich in culture. My group saw it as the best opportunity for relaxation and healing.
The property is amazing. Set atop Spring Mountain with a beautiful garden and surrounded by a vineyard. The house itself is large and accommodating with a great kitchen for cooking large meals. 8 of us spaced comfortably had so much fun there. Owner is delightful.
Beautiful Eclectic St Helena Vineyard home on Spring Mountain. Wonderful place to spend a Napa vacation with family or friends. House was a bit dated but had so much charm, perfect for our stay.
We enjoyed cooking, relaxing and exploring the property. The house is surrounded by delicious wineries that are steps away!
Joan and Brian were a pleasure to work with and we recommend this beautiful property.
We had a great stay up on top of Spring Mountain for my 50th birthday celebration. I would highly recommend this property, would love to go back when it's warmer and check everything out then as well!
The property is magnificent -- with its mountain-top setting and beautiful vineyard. The drive up and down the mountain can be a bit of a challenge in bad weather, but it's worth it for the serene setting. The house is chock-full of interesting antiques, books, and collections. We enjoyed building crackling fires in the dining room and family room fireplaces and walking through the grounds and vineyard. Our favorite vineyard visit was at a neighboring vineyard, Pride Mountain, that is about 5 minutes away and not to be missed! The property owner, Joan, and her son, Brian, could not have been more gracious and helpful -- before and during our stay.
Very friendly and helpful owners. The home is spacious and full of art and books. The grounds are lovely and we enjoyed the ability to see both the sunrise from the back of the home and the sunset from the front of the home. The drive up and down Spring Mountain Road is interesting as it is very steep and curvy, but there are many wineries along Spring Mountain Rd that are well worth a visit. We enjoyed our stay.
Our group of 11 people had the bst time at the villa.
Large with fantastic views of the vineyard and mountains.
Would recommend it to anyone visiting Napa
Brian and Joan were wonderful in their communication as I was planning this family vacation. Fantastic location and views. The highlights were our evening dinner meals served outside and of course the pool which we all enjoyed!

About the host

I manage this property on behalf of my mother, Joan.
Why they chose this property
This 30 acre property had been a vineyard, originally planted in the 1880s, but had gone fallow and eventually completely reclaimed by the madrone and pine trees after Prohibition brought things to a halt. My mother came up here for the first time, many years ago, climbed a tree and was wowed by the incredible view of the entire Napa Valley! She acquired the property, designed and built the house and guest house around her vast collection of antique doors, windows and architectural artifacts of every kind.
What makes this property unique
Sweeping views of the Napa Valley, looking across to the majestic Mount St Helena, surrounded by the estate's expansive gardens and organic vineyard. Fine antique furnishings throughout the house, with extraordinary architectural features and integrated artifacts from all over the world (exposed beams throughout the house are hundreds of years old, dining room fireplace build around 12th c. French limestone carvings, the walls throughout are 2 feet thick, antique doors and windows). An old-world experience, literally brought here and assembled again in California!
