This was our first experience renting from Vrbo and we will definitely not hesitate to do it again! My husband, our college-aged son, our dog and I enjoyed our 3-day weekend. The house was close to the WCU campus (the reason for our visit) and was well equipped for our stay. Sitting on the deck in the afternoon, listening to the stream was very relaxing! We will definitely be repeat visitors should my son decides to transfer to WCU!
We rented the property for Thanksgiving to celebrate with my WCU student. The property is mostly as described. We appreciated the comfortable living area, the ability to have our medium dog with us, the very well stocked kitchen (we were very pleasantly surprised at how well stocked the kitchen was in teens of casserole dishes, pots and pans, and serving pieces. Only thing we couldn’t.find was a whisk. :)), and the closeness to WCU (5 min drive).
The property is very basic in terms of linens and finishes so didn’t feel it was quite a 5-star property. We also experienced the VERY musky odor that other reviewers had mentioned. I brought some scent items with us in case we had this but the odor was detectable every time we entered the property. Also, while challenging to control, there were a good number of dead insects in the unfinished basement / game room. The WCU students somewhat enjoyed the basement games but didn’t spend long down there as they found it cold and a bit creepy. :)).
One important thing for awareness is that the house appears to be in a cellular dead zone, at least for AT&T and Verizon. We had absolutely no connectivity and initially the Wi-Fi password we were given was incorrect. We had to drive back towards campus to find cell service so we could call property management. Property management was great, but we couldn’t troubleshoot anything in real-time. Once we got connected then we could make calls and text over wi-fi, which was strong.
We stayed for a week to move our child into WCU. The property was great for our family. Our only concern was a mothball smell in the house that was very distinct and overpowering. The gas grill had no propane and the dryer did not work. Both of these things we did not find out until the last day. Even with the issues our stay was nice and we would recommend.
The house was conveniently located close to campus. My group of college friends meet yearly to go to a game. Thus is our second stay at this house it’s close to campus.

Great for Families!
TONS of games and activities for kids and teens! Nice rooms, and the kitchen was stocked well - there is both a regular coffee maker and a Keurig, and even an air fryer. Once you find the home the first time, the outside lights make it very easy to find in the dark. Very much in nature, not the place for folks who don't like the woods; quiet and peaceful. Fire pit access requires climbing down a slight hill on an uneven path. Nothing terrible, most will have no problem, but if you have a hard time walking for whatever reason, it will be difficult. Overall, while older, it is well taken care of and nice without being fancy. Highly recommend if you have kids!
This was the perfect location for our sons college graduation. the house had plenty of room for us and a great game area downstairs!!
Questions I had were answered rapidly. Thank you for a great stay!!!

Liked: Check-in, communication
Disliked: Location, listing accuracy
Family vacay
Home has a musty smell and needs more cleaning done. You could tell it has been shut up for a long time. Basement is creepy and needs a good cleaning as well. Internet wouldn’t work most of the time there either. Tv buffers and internet goes out. Property is beautiful but so far from main road.
We loved the location. The property was very dog friendly.

Creekside Comfort review
Lovely home, beautiful surroundings! All amenities and necessities were provided! All information re the home was clearly communicated, and the response time for inquiries and questions was super prompt! Great access to GSMNP, the Blue Ridge Parkway, historic town of Sylva, and other adventures!
Would stay again!
This is our second time staying there! It is clean, well appointed and quiet. Plenty of room for a family of 6. Wifi signal is strong. It is less than a 10 minute drive to WCU. Host is very responsive. Highly recommend this place.

Family Reunion “Retreat” and Comfort
We love this property. We love the location being very convenient to the Family Reunion. The porch needs some TLC. The cushions are flat and not real clean. The ice maker was not working last year and it was not working this year. The trash issue was odd. I stay a week Mon-Mon and the trash cans were full until Friday. So I had them full so the next quests. We enjoyed our trip and the cabin and I got some well needed rest.
Great location! We were there for my kids orientation. Less than 10 minute drive to WCU! The creek was nice and cool. Everything in the house was nicely arranged and the grill worked great. Highly recommend staying here if you are in the Cullowhee area.
Came up for a college visit with our 2 dogs and the place was great. Very dog friendly house and outdoors places to go explore. Great location to university. We will be back

Low water pressure, unfortunate resolution
The cabin was beautiful, but customer service was lukewarm at best. Upon arrival, 1/2 of our party immediately noticed we had low water pressure. It came out as a trickle. Management came out that evening, but did not resolve. The problem persisted for 1 more day (we had the rental for 3). We could not wash dishes in the dishwasher, washing machine or take a SHOWER! The bad review is not for the problems, things happen - it is the way management handled request for a refund. The total rental came to $1000, they initially offered $90. When I said that was not nearly worth the inconvenience, they upped it to $150. We still felt this was insufficient for the inconvenience of having a vacation rental with very little water, so they upped it to $200 (one night free). We still don't feel this is fair refund, considering our 3 day stay was impacted by 2 days of no-low water. The customer service was chilly (Chip was great; others were not) and unreceptive to more conversation. Don't stay with Sundog if you 1) want issues resolved quickly 2) want to be able to have a decent conversation with someone who will listen to your concerns and offer a fair resolution.

Creekside Comfort
Beautiful, secluded, peaceful with plenty of space. Occasional animal hair on couch, bedding and bath clean, kitchen well stocked. House did have odor of moth balls at first, but it dissipated. We enjoyed the stay and would gladly stay again. Only real inconvenience was an accident took out power pole resulting in no electricity for 12 hours, but that can happen anywhere.

Charged Extra Fees!!
So sad!! Be warned that if you stay at Creekside Comfort you may be charged fees even if you try your best to comply and take care of their house. We got a notice when we got home that we will have to pay pet fee of $277 because we were seen on outside cameras with our dog. I immediately called to explain that what they saw was us waiting outside for only about 10min for our son who lives close by to pick up our dog. We NEVER took the dog inside and the lady at Sundog Rentals said she couldn't do anything about it and couldn't understand why I was so upset. I got upset when they wouldn't listen and were accusing us of something we didn't do!! They charged our card even when we were disputing the charge. I've stayed at lots of vacation rentals and I've never had such shady interactions. It felt like they were trying to trick us into having to pay an extra fee even we explained we didn't keep the dogs there and we didn't let them inside. So sad!!
