Will definitively book again soon

It's an older home that could use some renovations. I had a couple of issues with the house. but other than that, I have no complaints. We only asked for a refund because we found another home closer to our destination and of course, this home was not equipped for 15-30-degree weather. I spoke with the owner and explained what all the issues were and they had a guy arrive at the house early to fix/take a look at the problems. Please keep in mind, with that said... The area and this location are amazing. I will book again soon and maybe during the spring or summer. Love the barn entry, The home is big and spacious. Lots of room for the family. (The stairs are a long way up and down) Cant forget about the beautiful view behind the house. It's called a Lake house for a reason and WOW! The frozen lake and the white mountains in the background are a sight to see. Thanks for being a good host

Great for relaxing

We had such a relaxing summer vacation. Hanging out by the lake/pond was our goal for the week, and we had it in spades here! The house is rustic, but cozy. If you have sky high standards, this might not be the rental for you, but if you think quirky old houses are charming, you’ll have a wonderful stay. Thank you Jan and Ted!

Great get away cozy house on the pond

We had a great stay at this quaint home on Bryant pond. Accommodated is well, although I think more than 6 adults would be tough. House is rustic and quirky, but, that was not unexpected based on other reviews. We managed to get some good family time in the evenings and made the 20 minute drive to Sunday River several times due I g the week. Hosts were responsive and easy to communicate with. Will definitely stay again.

Home-base for Skiing

We stayed here for five days skiing over Christmas break. It is conveniently located from Sunday River, which is about a 20 min drive away. The house is old (from the 1860’s), rustic and a bit quirky, but has character. At the time of writing, there is still an error in the listing stating: “Maximum overnight guests: 10 (sleeps up to 10 adults)” which is incorrect… There are three bedrooms, 2 full size beds (not queen, so a bit snug for two) and 1 twin. We were a bit concerned with the bed situation as we have three teenage kids, but the host was very accommodating and offered to put up a folding bed in the office downstairs. There is an eat-in kitchen with table room for six people and there is plenty of cookware and dishes. The cooking area is small and separated from the sink, and there is no dishwasher. The house is situated between a scenic pond on one side and a train track about 60’ in front of the house. During our stay, two trains passed in the middle of the night. We thought that the cleaning crew could have done a better job with the kitchen and bathroom, but the host rectified the problem. Even though it was high season during our stay, we felt we overpaid for this house. Despite that, the house was sufficient and we found the host to be very welcoming and responsive to questions and concerns.

Great stay

Stayed there while working in the area. Had a wonderful stay, wish we could have seen the Lake more, being we worked so much didn't get the views. What we did see was beautiful.

Great summer lake house

We enjoyed the lake and the house very much. The dock was perfect for swimming, somewhat sandy bottom made it enjoyable for the kids and easily accommodated our 18’ boat.

Loved it!

Myself and children stayed here for a few days. It was absolutely perfect! The home is a large farmhouse, full of character. The backyard was gorgeous! My littles enjoyed playing outside. The older ones enjoyed swimming and fishing! We’d definitely stay again!

Convenient and quirky, but...

We stayed a week over winter break, to ski the area. It's convenient to both Sunday River (25 min) and Mt. Abram (10 min), and takeout from Bethel didn't get cold on the way home. The house is definitely old and quirky, but the heat held out (oil, pellet stove, and wood stove in the kitchen). There are 3 bedrooms, for a max of 5 people on beds (2 queens and a twin) - fortunately we are a family of 5. The kitchen is old, and the cooking area is separated from the sink, but there are plenty of things to cook and bake with and in (unlike some other rentals in the area). There are definitely not more than 5 seats to eat at, however, although there are enough dishes. The wifi worked well (except during a wind storm, but that wasn't a local outage). The owner was fun to talk to about antique cars, and quite responsive when there were minor problems. One thing not noted in the description that might be of help is that there are active train tracks 75 yards from the front of the house - 3 trains in a week going through at 12:30am and returing around 6am. Overall, we did enjoy our stay. I would imagine summer visits would be quite different.

Close proximity to Sunday River

Good house for the ski trip, we had enough room for 6 people. One bathroom is a bit of inconvenience.

A great ski weekend!

We loved being able to stay here as our home base for another weekend of skiing at Mt. Abram, this time in perfect powder conditions. A really nice weekend in a classic New England home overlooking the frozen lake.

Great Old New England House

We had a really nice weekend in this cozy New England lakefront home. It was a quick trip to Mt. Abram for skiing and a beautiful place to wake up in the morning, with beautiful views of frozen Bryant Pond.
