Love this place. View of horse farm out the back by hot tub. Wife and some relatives drive back to Glenwood for the hot springs which was easy. For us skiers, was like 30 minutes, give or take for weather, to Brush Creek park and ride with free parking and easy access to the mountains by bus. Easy drive back to Aspen for a comedy show at the Wheeler opera house in the evening. Usually Rio Grande parking garage is free after 5 or 6 and easy access to town... but was closed due to a concert when we were there. Oh well, got lucky with a spot in town.House is older, but has everything you need for a good trip and a great value for the RFV. Just to show how great the owners/hosts were, there was a problem with one of the beds in one room. Didn't affect us because they were instantly on it and got a whole new bed for the room! Really great people. Can tell by the books on their bookshelves.

cozy house, good location
Perfect for smaller groups. Older house but some nice updates and a view that can't be beat. Hot tub after skiing is nice. Going into Aspen for nightlife or any of the 4 mountains for skiing is only 30 minutes each way. Perfect for checking out other restaurants and interests, snow shoeing, etc. all along the valley. A couple in the group went back to Glenwood Springs for an evening soak. I'll be coming back if possible.
Our group enjoyed the beautiful views out back. We had plenty of space for the 7 of us. The beds were comfy and the living areas were also. The kitchen was well stocked except for baking sheets. However, there were spices and various cooking accessories needed to make a home cooked meal so we made do with what we had. The location really was not far from the ski hills and the neighborhood was charming.
Great location! Close to hiking, downhill skiing, cross country skiing and the hot springs.

Wonderful white Christmas
This house is in the perfect spot with plenty of room for our large family. We had a great time here visiting with our family. We walked the trail around the pasture, pet the horses and enjoyed the view. Really special home and the owners are kind and accommodating.

Lovely neighborhood property; wonderful hosts
We had a wonderful time at this cozy neighborhood property. The backyard space which connected to horse pasture, playground & creek was lovely! The kids enjoyed feeding carrots to the horses, and running back & forth to the playground. We all enjoyed the hot tub in the evening after a day of skiing at Sunlight. Personally I would have appreciated curtains or blinds in the master bedroom; it was unfortunately VERY bright at 6:30am on a hoping-to-sleep-in vacation day. The hosts were wonderful, easy to work with, and super responsive. What made it a 5-star rating? Robin graciously recovered our forgotten swimsuits and rush-shipped them to our home! Thanks so much!!

Incredible Home/Property, Amazing Accommodations and a Very Memorable Stay
I had just arrived in Colorado from New York City and was intrigued by the chance to stay in the mountains for a few days. This home/property was the perfect fit. With jaw-dropping landscapes, beautiful green pastures, majestic horses in the near distance and a breathtaking view of Mount Sopris, standing like a mythical giant directly in front of my eyes made me realize the allure of places like Carbondale.
The home is lovely, with perfect accommodations and tons of space. The home was clean, comfortable and terrifically maintained. The backyard, with its patio and hot tub only helped to further my vacation experience. You get the feeling that you are all alone up there, with the stars and the mountains as your neighbors. It's truly humbling to be surrounded by such beauty and serenity.
The owners are very kind, honest, responsible and accountable. Within close proximity to places like Glenwood Springs and Aspen, plus the multitude of hiking and biking options in the surrounding areas made this one of the greatest travel experiences of my life. It's hard to impress a lifelong big city person like myself, but this home/property, the owners and the location left me awestruck and also sad that I couldn't stay for longer. This place is a goldmine and any people interested in Carbondale and the surrounding area(s) would be foolish not to stay here. A terrific experience all around!

PERFECT COMFORT, GORGEOUS COUNTRY, AND EXCELENT ACCOMODATIONS
My company rented this property for a Retreat..based entirely on the participants escaping the busy city to relax, rejuvinate, and enjoy the spectacular natural beauty of Colorado. THIS PROPERTY WAS PERFECT for all of these items.
Our stay at this property was more than memorable. The home is huge, with a perfect, PRIVATE location immediatly ajacent to a large horse pasture with views of Mt. Sopris behind it. You truly feel as if you are the only home for miles, as there no other properties in sight.
The home is quite large, very comfortable, and has an amazing back yard and patio- fully equiped with a BBQ and state of the art HOT TUB..we sat on the patio, dipping in and out of the hot tub at night, gazing up at the billions of stars around us..In the day time the horses come up to the fence to say hello..they are absolutely beautiful and look like wild stallions!
The owners are responsible, honest, and professional. They provided a very high level of customer service, and went above and beyond the call of duty to insure we had the best experience possible.
The fishing at the Ranch is the best I have ever experienced in Colorado. The stream system goes on for miles, with beautiful back drops of the surrounding mountains- making for a super experience, even if you dont catch anything..which is highly unlikely.
We enjoyed the endless hiking paths, which meander through various streams, the Roaring Fork River, pastures, and small forests. We even able to see some wildlife- a deer, BALD EAGLES!!, and a beaver.
BEST MOUNTAIN RENTAL I HAVE EVER USED IN COLORADO!

An extraordinary home/property
We spent 3 wonderful days at this comfortable lovely home - 2 couples in our early 60's. The location is spectacular, with a stunning view of Mt. Sopris from every window and with soothing Aspen trees close in. The proximity to Aspen and Glenwood Springs and numerous beautiful places around there to hike, fish, and dine make is most convenient. My only gripe is that we didn't spend more time there as we did busy ourselves with the many nearby activities. A REAL TREASURE!

Awesome holiday retreat!!!
Staying at the Watson's home in Carbondale was more than we ever could have imagined. We arrived late in the evening, and couldn't see the extraordinary view of Mt. Sopris which was right outside the backyard. We loved the privacy and beauty of the landscape, both early in the morning with the frosted dew on the grass, the beautiful horses, and the sun shinging on the tip of Mt. Sopris. We enjoyed riding your bicycles during the day into Carbondale, having a delicious breakfast at the Village Smithy and then returning to watch the sun set in the lakes and streams while walking the grounds of the beautiful ranch. The evening, of course, was topped off by taking a dip in your hot tub, watching the stars, and even getting to see several shooting stars....Thanks you for your hospitality, and beautiful home to vacation in.We will most certainly make this a yearly event !

About the host
Hosted by Robin or Robert Watson
Robert and Robin are retired Professors of Human Services from Metropolitan State University of Denver. When we are lucky enough to be in Carbondale, we love to fish, hike and bike this magnificent valley, listen to the incredible music at the Aspen music festival , and watch the magnificent sunsets in our beautiful backyard. We wish we had more time to spend here.
Why they chose this property
Beautifully situated along a horse pasture and quiet fishing creeks feeding directly into the Roaring Fork River and surrounded by 360+ acres of open space, a par-3 golf course, tennis courts and miles of walking, biking, cross country skiing and snowshoeing trails this location is unbeatable!
What makes this property unique
Upon first look, we were overwhelmed by the beautiful views from each window. This is a house that brings the outdoors, indoors. We fell in love instantly! The house is private and also in a friendly engaging neighborhood. When you look out of the back windows the views are expansive and sweeping. The horses often come up to our back fence, and the deer like to visit us as well. What could be better!
