Lovely!

This was our first visit to Brunswick and we had a great time. The location was perfect for walking the Bowdoin College campus and the Maine Street area had many fun restaurants and stores. We would definitely stay here again!! Great hosts and clean, comfortable cottage. They were very helpful with information and best places to visit while in the area. Thanks for having us!

Convenience and culture

Comfortable and private. Within walking distance of trains and buses that can take one further north or south. Easy access to downtown and coastal highway 1 by car. Hostess has tastefully decorated this studio cottage with good art and good books.

Perfect getaway for 2

My spouse and I recently spent our Thanksgiving holidays in this little gem in the heart of downtown Brunswick. We were immediately made to feel welcome by Susan, and the houses felt like home to us. Thoughtful amenities were everywhere. There was a great reading selection - art, music, literature, vintage children's books. Best of all for me was the baby grand Steinway tucked away and ready to play. So cozy and warm. We will be returning for sure. Carol & Peter

We really enjoyed our stay in this comfortable cottage that is on a quiet street yet close to everything in Brunswick. The space is well equipped with everything you need to cook and rest comfortably. It fit our family of three very well. Susan, the host, was so accommodating and helpful. We appreciate her so much! Wonderful everything!

Even before we arrived, Susan made us feel welcome. She made checking in very low pressure and simple...we just walked in. At first glance, the cottage seemed quaint and peaceful. Inside, every item is attentively appointed and very tidy. Cleanliness is very important to us and the cottage was absolutely impeccable. We would definitely stay again if we are in the area and I highly recommend it as a comfortable, clean, peaceful, and beautiful rental property.

My favorite Brunswick home away from home!

I loved this space! Beautiful, clean, artsy-hippie vibe (in the best possible way), cultured space filled with a piano, comfy furnishings and bed, beautiful artwork, quality touches in the kitchen and all throughout. All of this and a kind, communicative host made for a lovely stay ☺️

Very Walkable

Great place to stay in Brunswick. Quiet neighborhood. Easily walk to Bowdoin College, restaurants, grocery store, and the train station. Owners are very friendly and had good suggestions of things to see and do. Brunswick is a wonderful town as it offers plenty of things to do and places to eat without feeling "touristy". Bowdoin campus is beautiful with an incredible art museum.

Quiet Getaway

This quiet getaway was exactly what my spouse and I needed after a few busy days working our way up the coast of Maine. The community is lovely, the cottage was delightful. Loved that there was a tv but it wasn’t setup, it really allowed us to unplug and relax!

fabulous sunlight- filled retreat

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the quiet suite with newly remodeled, well-appointed kitchen and bath. Who would have guessed this private oasis with its sky lights, vaulted ceiling, & wood- beams that compliment the clean white decor, could exist tucked on a tree-lined stret a couple blocks from Bowdin campus?!? We highly recomend with a 5-star rating from seasoned world travelers!

Sweet serenity

This was such a quick but beautiful trip. The atmosphere was stunning. Very cool decor. My boyfriend and I loved the piano and enjoyed creating some tunes. The location is so close to downtown which made it ideal for shopping. Susan is such a sweet person and made me feel at home. I will definitely come again!

About the host

We are a couple of art historians who have been fortunate to work and play in two wonderful places: Maine and the South of France, where we have been involved in an archaeological excavation on a medieval site for many years and have enjoyed teaching art history at the University of Maine for decades as well as run a sheep farm for 20 years. We both love the ocean, the small farms, the architectural and historical heritage and the generous and creative people of this region and have worked to help preserve the land and heritage here, and the vibrant and diverse communities around us.

Why they chose this property

After living on a salt-water farm outside town for many years, we moved into town so we could walk to places and enjoy the many cultural riches of the greater Brunswick area in retirement. We have a a delightful guest house and are happy to be able to offer guests many of the same benefits to being in Brunswick that we enjoy.

What makes this property unique

Being able to walk to many places, whether to shop at the farmers' market, or walk to a restaurant for dinner or a drink or café latte is a great advantage. There are aways new things to see at the museums and galleries and it is fun to peruse the two bookstores in town or check out the Cabot Mill Antiques shops. And it is not far in the car to get to beautiful natural settings for great walks, picnics or swimming and places for watching sunsets and star-gazing after dark.
The vibrant city of Portland is close enough to take in the art and fashion scene and going to a show, a concert, or one of the many highly-rated restaurants, and generally enjoying the nightlife there, is very doable from our place.
