The photos really do not do this place justice. We had 2 families here together for 8 days of pure bliss. The location itself is amazing, being quite close to Kona town and on the main road to/from town. In addition, it is right next to one of the best bodysurfing beaches in all of Hawai'i, Magic Sands.
We loved catching every sunset on that beach, grabbing shave ice from the stand behind the house, and washing up in the outdoor shower before dinner.
It is also very close to several great surf breaks (Banyans, Lymans, Honl's, & Kahalu'u were our favorites), as well as a rental shop down Ali'i at Kahalu'u. That spot is not only great for all skills, once inside the break and south of the lifeguard stand it becomes an amazing place to snorkel. At several points my surf partner and I would paddle inside, don the snorkel sets around our neck and start snorkeling while waiting for sets.
The only con we had with the house itself, and it is quite a minor one, is that the glass used for the windows are single paned and will let in a lot of outside noise. For 90% of the time, you would never notice, but on more than one occasion we were woken up by loud trucks and music in the Magic Sands parking lot around 4am. Overall very minor and only inconvenienced myself as it left me awake and waiting for enough light to surf dawn patrol. So again, very minor but I want to be honest in my review.
All around, an amazing property that we can't wait to use again. Big Island is truly amazing, and truly has it all. From seeing Mauna Loa's lava flows, to swimming with Manta Rays, to seeing countless Honu on a black sand beach, surfing with Honu, napping on Hapuna Beach, or gazing in awe at Waipio Valley; I cannot recommend this house enough as the perfect basecamp for adventure.
