THE VILLAGE LA JACA
Best climate:
La Jaca is in Tenerife’s sunny south – the weather is good, temperatures are mild also in winter time and at night, it rains only about 15 days per year.
Air temperatures summer ca. 25°C, winter ca. 20°C.
Water temperatures Atlantic summer ca. 23°C, winter ca. 18-20°C.
With the Passat, it is windy often – not necessarily every day. But the wind is warm and the village offers beautiful places especially built to protect you from the wind, e.g. plateaus at the beaches.
Far from mass tourism:
La Jaca is an authentic village with small streets and every house looking differently. Till today mostly Tinerfeños live in the former fishing village. There are 2 bars/restaurants, 1 mini market and sometimes fiestas with life music during summer time.
There are no hotels, no through traffic. Despite to good traffic connection, you do not hear the autopista.
Sunbathing, swimming, snorkelling, yoga:
La Jaca’s rocky coast line offers two beaches and a seawater pool. According to wind and waves you can decide where to go. The naturally flat zones are save for children. Swimmers can also enter the ocean via comfortable stairs or ladders from the rocks. Snorkelling is fun: the water is clear, good visibility, discover fish and exciting rock formations. You reach all beaches / swimming spots within 2-5 min walk.
Perfect spot for individual Yoga practice, e.g. 2 min from the house on a smooth flat rock formation above the sea.
Walking, hiking, jogging:
Right from the door you can start walking, hiking, jogging tours for kilometers. Most of the coast is a natural reserve. Small trails go directly along the coast line, through diverse landscapes with lava fields, rock formations, natural beaches and barrancos (canyons) etc.
Getting around:
Next autopista exit is 1.2 km (via Rapsol fuel station).
Airport South TFS to La Jaca ca. 15 min.
Airport Nord TFN to La Jaca ca. 40 min.
Bus station of TITSA busses going on the autopista (to airports, ferry harbours, Los Christianos, Santa Cruz, etc.)
