Excellent property! This was our first VRBO stay and it exceeded our expectations. Great mountain house with wonderful amenities onsite as well as resort access. The house was well appointed and the location was great with close proximity to Rumble Bald. Loved relaxing to the sound of the running creek below. Clean and comfortable. Will stay again.
We loved our stay at Buffalo Creek Retreat! Everything on the property was as described and communication with the host was excellent. The location was perfect- a short 5/6 minute drive to the Rumbling Bald Resort amenities but lots of privacy while at the cabin. The view from the back screened in deck was stunning and we enjoyed listening to the creek down the hill while sitting out back. Kitchen was decently stocked. Tons of plates, silverware and cups, as well as spices and items we totally forgot to pack (aluminium foil, cling wrap). Property is close to several restaurants and a grocery store and not a bad drive to the public beach in Lake Lure or Chimney Rock. My family enjoyed our stay and could definitely see ourselves visiting again in the fall!
The property was perfect for our long weekend. The view is great in the back, and the sound of the creek is very relaxing. Looking forward to staying here again when we return to lake lure.
House was clean, the creek out back was therapeutic. Nice trail within walking distance. The clubhouse was great all sorts of activities to do. Overall awesome experience.
We had a great stay. The house has everything you need and then some. The property manager is responsive to any need. The use of the resort is such an added bonus. The AC and WiFi work great and the hot tub is wonderful. The nature surrounding the property is spectacular. The first floor beds are very comfortable. The loft area was great for our toddler, but could use a little sprucing up. Over all a great experience.
I booked this cabin for my mom’s 60th birthday. She loves the mountains and wanted to visit Asheville. She couldn’t have been more thrilled when we arrived and spent so much time on the screened in patio watching the thunderstorms. We explored Lake Lure, Chimney Rock and The Biltmore. Resort access was a great addition. We had a wonderful week and Would definitely recommend to others.
We enjoyed our trip to Lake Lure and our stay at Buffalo Creek Retreat. The home had all the essentials you would need on a trip! Host was quick to respond to any questions or issues that we had and they made sure or stay was top notch. Very comfortable home!!
Enjoyed our stay very much. The sound of the stream was so relaxing. And we loved that there was a trailhead for a great hike literally steps away from the house. Beds were very comfortable and house was stocked with everything you may need.
The homeowner was quick to respond and the place was so relaxing. These people really care about your stay. My son spent the night in the see thru igloo and two days fishing. We also went to the beach and indoor pool at the Rumbling Bald resort which is a quick 5 minute jaunt down the the hill. Plan your spa daye well in advance. They booked up quickly.
Lastly, there are a lot of fun things to do in the area, don't miss out on Chimney Mountain.
This house was perfect for my husband and me and two teenage boys. They loved the loft and the downstairs game room. The owners have so many special touches from robes and towels by the hot top, toiletries in pretty pouches, dishwasher and laundry pods in labeled jars, and a kitchen stocked with spices and cooking oils.
We loved the hot tub and the fire pit, and just sitting on the porch listening to the water flowing in the creek behind the house. Guest passes to Rumbling Bald Resort we’re a plus, although we spent most of our days exploring Chimney Rock and other nearby towns.
This place is perfect for a quiet getaway. The kids and I loved it. Very spacious for the 4 of us. The hot tub and the passes to the indoor pool was an excellent touch.
The house was super clean. The property owner was super nice, quick to reply, and was super helpful.
We are planning another trip and more than likely will stay at this location again.
If you are looking for the perfect place to relax in a space of your own, but still have all the extra amenities of a high end resort, this is the place for you! I have so many positive things to say about this property I'm not sure where to even begin.
The view of the creek & mountains is absolutely amazing in the mornings and the sound of the water running is so peaceful. The owners added lots of personal touches (bathrobes for the hot tub were my favorite...oh and all the fuzzy blankets, wireless chargers in all the rooms were my kids, the coffee maker and air fryer were my husbands) to make you feel at home. The decor looks like something out of a magazine and I found myself making notes on things I wanted to do to my own home to make it feel more like this one! The owners were very responsive and great to work with. The igloo and hammock outside were also a great addition. It's about a 25 minute drive to get to most things (including a grocery store), but we didn't mind it at all. The winding roads and the mountain scenery was part of the experience and we liked that this property was away from all the hustle and bustle. We took advantage of the Rumbling Bald Resort amenities and used the indoor pool, fitness center, and enjoyed dinner one evening at Legends on Lake Lure. One day it rained, but it didn't phase us at all (not even with kids ages 12, 13, 16). We enjoyed that day simply staying at the property playing games in the game room, soaking in the covered hot tub, reading a book on the covered patio, and listening to the rain from inside the garden igloo. All of the restaurants we visited were delicious (includeing The Burntshirt Winery, Hickory Nut Brewery, Riverwatch). Our absolute favorite was Lured Market where we enjoyed their farm-to-table grill, local brews, and were invited to play trivia with the locals. If you go, be sure to tell them the Hoosiers sent you lol. The only thing that would have made our stay better is if we didn't have to leave. We had an absolutely amazing time and can't wait to come back! Buffalo Creek Retreat is going to become a tradition for the Linville Family! Thanks again for everything!!!!
Buffalo Creek Retreat is a beautiful home. The attention to detail was second to none. The home had everything that we needed, and it was very clean. The day before we departed, the host sent a link to a virtual Guidebook. What I liked most about it was the short video clips showing how to operate the hot tub, thermostat, and television. The office space in the multi-purpose room was perfect. The wi-fi signal was strong and the desk was just the right size. The list of “niceties” included, night lights throughout the home, toiletries in the bathroom, beach towels, robes with slippers for the hot tub, throws, fluffy blankets, coffee and hot chocolate pods for the Keurig, koozies with the retreat’s name on it, and luggage racks in every room.
My favorite part was the location of the creek. The sound is hard to put into words! One day during my stay, I sat on the screened porch to meditate. Listening to the sound was very soothing. Also, Buffalo Creek Trail is walking distance from the house. Even though we were working, we felt so relaxed. When I’m ready to visit Lake Lure again, I’ll be staying at Buffalo Creek Retreat!!!
