Enjoyed Our Stay

This was a nice clean, quiet place with a big backyard overlooking the mountains. Lots of bird activity if you kept the feeders filled. We loved seeing the Quail come to the feeders. We liked walking around the neighborhood and enjoyed the hot tub. The sauna was a bust though, never broke a sweat in it and the wifi was slow and spotty. Other than those two things we enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again. Easy communication with host who gave us suggestions on restaurants and things to do. What you see in the VRBO listing is what it is although we didn't think the pictures did it justice. (Much nicer!)

My desert oasis!

I want to keep this wonderful rental my own little secret because it is absolutely amazing! This is the BEST rental we have ever stayed in. And trust me-we are very picky. The bed was more comfortable than my Tempurpedic at home. I could have slept all day. But I was up early each morning to drink my coffee on the back patio and visit with the birds and bunnies. In the past, we have stayed in the foothills but there were numerous restaurants nearby. The Tohono Chul gardens were less than three miles away, with delicious food, great shopping, and wonderful walks. The homeowner was very kind sending us information before our arrival and making sure we got nicely settled when we arrived. I also feel like the checkout was less involved than many other rentals. The hot tub was a relaxing retreat after a fun day of sightseeing. But has twinkle lights and water lights if you wanted to make it a party atmosphere. I highly recommend this rental but make sure to leave a week available for me because I will be coming back!

Peaceful getaway- we loved it as much as our dogs!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the property and our dogs loved the large fenced in yard as much as we did. It was nice to relax in the several seating areas in the backyard. We put birdseed out and filled the hummingbird feeder so we could see and appreciate many different types of birds and bunnies. There are stunning mountain views from both the front and back of the property. It is in a neighborhood, however with the wash to one side and enough distance and foliage between neighbors, it felt very secluded and private. Minutes from shopping and hiking made it a very convenient location. Sue was excellent in keeping in contact with tips and if we needed anything or had questions. Would definitely return.

Great week at "Rancho"!

We had a wonderful week at Rancho for a family Christmas gathering! Oro Valley is a wonderful area and Rancho is close to everything that area has to offer. We walked, hiked, shopped, and thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful fenced in back yard that Rancho offered. The house had everything we needed and was very comfortable and relaxing. Sue, the owner was great; responded quickly and with helpful info for us to use. We plan to come back to Tucson at some point and Rancho would be our definite choice for another stay!

Fun stay at Rancho

This house is in a great location for what we wanted from our stay in Tucson. There are plenty of places to shop and eat (El Charro was amazing), it's under 10 minutes to Catalina Start Park with its great hiking trails (recommended by owner Sue, which was spot on!), a short drive to other parks and even downtown, and it provides a chance to see desert wildlife in the backyard! The bed in the master bedroom is perhaps the most comfortable we have ever experienced in our stays at VRBO properties, no kidding. Sue was great to work with; no complaints from us on the whole experience. Thanks Sue! Steve and Missy

Comfortable and Quiet

We enjoyed our stay at this vacation rental. My family was comfortable and the house had all the basics that we needed. It was in a private area and the backyard was a nice place to hang out with pretty mountain views. The owner was very communicative and helpful via text - but didn't respond to questions on the Homeaway messaging service (so text her). The main reason I didn't give it a higher rating is because the Hot Tub was not available. If you are renting this location (which features a hot tub and sauna in all the pictures) realize that they are NOT available all the time. I guess they close it down seasonally and didn't say anything to us - which was a bit upsetting since it was one of the deciding factors on why we rented the place and spent this level of money in the first place. Otherwise, the house was nice and comfortable...!

Wonderful stay at Rancho!

My husband and I stayed at Rancho for the month of January, 2019 and loved it! The house is very conveniently located with easy access to grocery stores, gyms, restaurants, hiking and biking etc. The kitchen is very well equipped in terms of cookware and spices; the bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable and we also liked the fact that the house has an office because we both had to work during our stay. Additionally, we had our dog with us and we really enjoyed the large, fenced in backyard overlooking the mountains. The neighborhood is very nice and folks were very friendly and chatty as we took our lunchtime runs and walks with the dog. The weather was perfect while we were there – nice, crisp mornings and warm sunshine in the afternoon – the sunsets were amazing. We got out and about during the weekends and one of the “not to be missed” things to do is to go up to Mount Lemmon –it’s worth the beautiful drive alone but you can also romp in the snow at the top. Dove Mountain is also very beautiful with lots of dog friendly hiking. Our two favorite places to eat ended up being Harvest which is 10 minutes from the house and Elvira which is downtown. For those who like beer, we thought Barrio was the best brewery. Sue and Terry were wonderful to work with and made us feel right at home – I would definitely recommend staying here.

Small, comfortable house with impressive southwestern landscaping.

Scenic desert location close to the tennis tournament we were attending. Enjoyed sunrise/sunset views. Neighborhood is also very quiet and dark at night, allowing appreciation of the starry Arizona skies.

Excellent accomodations, great back yard and everything clean and neat!!

My guests and I really enjoyed our stay. Everything we needed in the way of bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchens was available....even birdseed. Which was necessary because of the many birds that visited during our stay Even had an elusive roadrunner go through the yard. And the backyard was a great pleasure to be in and view every morning and evening, even though we did not use the sauna or hot tub.

Perfect Location

We had a wonderful month in Tucson staying at Rancho. The beautiful view of the mountains from the backyard was my favorite part of this home. We enjoyed the sunrises with coffee, and the sunsets with a glass of wine every day! The home is convenient to many Tuscon attractions including Catalina State Park and the bike path, and also to grocery stores and restaurants. Sue was wonderful to work with. We would most certainly recommend this property.

Awewsome property!

Thank you to Sue and Terry for sharing their wonderful 'Rancho' with us. The house is nicely updated with a comfortable decor, wonderful beds and a kitchen filled with everything you need to make your own meals. The landscaped backyard is a great place to sit with a cup of coffee, enjoy the view of Pusch Ridge and watch birds eating at the feeders. The hot tub was a big hit and what fun to roast marshmallows in the fire pit. We were lucky to see a bobcat walk through the front yard as we were watching the beautiful sun set from the front porch. The location is great; close to shopping and restaurants. We enjoyed eating at the Harvest and don't forget Jerry Bob's for breakfast. This is a great starting place to see all of the sights of Tucson. A special thank you for renting to people with dogs. Our dog loved exploring the backyard and we took numerous walks around the neighborhood meeting other dog walkers on our route. We every saw a coyote. Sue was very helpful and just a phone call away if we needed anything. We would definitely stay at 'Rancho' again.

Great Location and Great Facilities

My wife and I visited Rancho for the second time this year. The house is comfortable and well stocked and looked after. We continue to find the property exactly as advertised and the landlords, Sue and Terry, went out of their way to ensure we enjoyed our visit. The house is located on a fenced lot which is a great size and while there are neighbour's about, they are far enough away to ensure privacy. We were particularly grateful that we were able to bring our small dog with us. I have no hesitation in recommending this property to anyone interested in visiting the Tucson area and we expect to return again very soon.

Love this place!

We really enjoyed spending the month of March 2015 in this house. It's located in a development where most homes have some open land. It's about 3 blocks from a major north-south roadway which makes for easy access to most Tuscon destinations but has minimal neighborhood traffic (and not much traffic noise). It is a great place to walk around the neighborhood when you want to get out and you're just too exhausted to do another one of the nearby hiking trails. The house is very nicely furnished and was spotless when we arrived. Unlike other VRBO's we've rented the kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to prepare our own meals. The beds were very comfortable and the owners were very attentive without being intrusive. This is the best VRBO we've stayed in, period.

A wonderful place for a family Thanksgiving

We rented this house as a place for the family and kids to all travel to for Thanksgiving. It is well suited for sleeping and living, meaning that the bedrooms are on one end and the public areas are on the other end of the house so there is little noise. This worked well as we had people arriving from 6 time zones apart. The house has lots of little conversation areas so we were able to sit in small groups and enjoy each others company or be alone just to have quiet time and read a book. The back yard is fabulous. Very large and well appointed with the sauna and hottub. Very private and lovely at night under the stars. The dining room was very large but we ended up eating dinner outside most of the time. So warm and sunny. The house was very clean and well appointed and stocked with everything we needed from table ware to wine openers. Thank you Sue for having such a great property available.

Return visit

We are pleased to make Rancho our home away from home when we are in the Tucson area. Oro Valley has all the amenities and attractions we like, and this home is perfectly located and meets all of our needs. It is nestled at the base of Pusch Ridge, close to Oracle, which provides easy access to pretty much everything. Don't miss Tohono Chul Park, Macayo Mexican restaurant and Thunder Canyon Brewery. A morning ritual is to hike the Linda Vista Trail. It is a five minute drive from the house. The house is cosy and roomy. It is easy to find personal space when wanted. A special treat each night is the spectacular sunsets out the front window. Rancho is a gem, and Sue makes sure that her guests are comfortable. Leon and Sandy

Really nice home in Oro Valley!

We were so pleased with our 10 days at "Rancho". The home is so comfortable and nicely decorated. It had everything we needed - including an out of the way office for my husband to work - some people just don't know what VACATION means!! The location of the home is great - it is so convenient to stores (especially Trader Joes- LOVE IT!) but yet off the main drag and in such a wonderful quiet neighborhood. LOVED the large private yard and the great mountain views. Sat in the back many times just trying to soak it all in and take it back home with me!! Really enjoyed the fire pit and we were lucky enough to have a full moon while we were there. The sunsets from the front were just so beautiful. We found some new restaurants (Harvest Restaurant was the best and the Barrio Brewery if you like beer was fantastic!) We did lots of hiking and Mtn Biking (50 yr trail, Sweetwater and Fantasy Island - so much fun!!) Sue was so very responsive and easy to work with. Would not hesitate to stay here again - was everything we were looking for and more! Thank you!

Way beyond my expectations!

We celebrated Christmas week at the "rancho", my 2 children, their spouses and my husband..oh,yes, and 2 dogs. We ended up cooking every evening the kitchen was so well appointed. There was plenty of room to spread out.. Even a room we used for yoga because it Was out of the mainstream. The backyard was fenced, large and comfortable for a barbeque and bonfire. The hot tub and sauna were immaculate. The home owners went out of their way to provide a Christmasy atmosphere which was much appreciated as we were traveling from afar. Only critism is we didn't find the garage door opener until we were packing up to leave..but that was probably our fault!

Weekend retreat

One can get quite a bang for the buck with this lovely home. My husband and I celebrated his 40th birthday with 4 other friends and we were all very comfortable in and outside the home. It was centrally located to the mountain bike trails we rode, which was the focus of the weekend. The weather was very pleasant and we took advantage of the outdoor dining table and played a few rounds of horseshoes. It would have been nicer to have 2 stakes for the shoes as opposed to just one, but we made it work. The house was well equipped with kitchen gadgets, even a cookie sheet to make fresh cookies, and there were plenty of towels to go around. If we come back to Tucson for more riding we would definitely stay here again! Thanks for the warm welcome!

We enjoyed our stay! The house was a perfect home base for visiting family in the Tucson area. We even hosted about 15 relatives for a barbeque with room to spread out both indoors and out. The house was well equipped with everything we needed. The outdoor patios, sauna, hot tub, and fire pit helped make it a relaxing vacation. Great location close to shopping and restaurants, yet in a quiet neighborhood. Our dog, Bailey, liked the back yard and morning walks. Sue was attentive and accomodating. Would stay again. Thanks, Sue.

My husband and I are Minnesotans. We never really thought about vacationing in Arizona until our two daughters moved to Tucson and Phoenix. We love Tucson! It has mountain ranges in all directions. We love to hike Catalina State Park or other closeby hiking trails. As real estate investors, we realized Tucson was a smart investment area.
Our home is peaceful with gorgeous views- very private, yet centrally located. We look forward to your visit to our home. We love it here and we know you will too.

We love the views from the sun room and the back yard while sitting in the sauna, hot tub, or just sitting at the patio table. There are also city lights and gorgeous sunsets to be seen! A very private setting.
We hope you decide to stay with us, because you will want to come back on your next vacation!

Why they chose this property

All of Tucson has mountain views but this home looks like it's tucked in to the mountain. If you are looking for a vacation near Tucson sites, this home is just a number of blocks over the Oro Valley line, which makes it central to everything. We love the mountain views from the living room or the sun room or office and Master bedroom. It feels as though we are in the country up here. It is extremely tranquil- hear the coyotes at night -

What makes this property unique

We love the views from the back yard or the front yard - three mountain ranges can be seen. The house is extremely comfortable- complete with an Arizona room, plus a private den/office. Inside- modern bamboo floors. Comfortable Furnishings- love the master bed- better than the one in my own home! Fully equipped kitchen with everything you will need. You will love staying here... If tranquility, nature, and mountains are what you are looking for in a place for your next vacation, then look no further. The backyard oasis is completely fenced and has two flagstone patios, a ramada complete with hot tub (offline until the end of Nov.) and infrared sauna. Grill away on the portable gas grill located just off the main patio or grill on the Weber charcoal grill, with dining table and two chaise lounge chairs. For those evening campfires, there's a portable fire pit for your use- horseshoes for some competitive play, along with a ladderball game for more outdoor activity. If you want to see birds, merely hang a seed bell from the last Palo Verde tree by the cedar rail fence, or hang another one between the rails, and in a day or two you will be amazed at all variety of birds, including Quail, you will have attracted. Rancho is truly a wonderfully comfortable home- quiet surroundings, breathtaking mountain views with nature abounding- plus, convenient to all activities, shopping, the back way to Phoenix. Our hope is that once you stay at 'Rancho' you will want to come back again and again- whether for a family gathering for a holiday week, or great for cycling enthusiasts, or snow birds looking for a longer stay... you'll love 'Rancho' for your retreat. We do accept well behaved dogs, so you may bring your pet friend/children with you!(some restrictions may apply as well as pet fee.) Beauty, peaceful surroundings, comfort, and location are key components to 'Rancho's' appeal. Snowbird monthly stay, rent by the 1st of ea. month- January, February, March, April.
