About this property

Family Cabin on an Acre! Owner Managed.

Woodhaven cabin is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath cabin on a downsloping acre. Orientation of the cabin adds to the private setting. Beautiful forested views surround. Cabin is loved, managed, and maintained by the owner. Comfortably sleeps 6 guests. The cabin was completely renovated in 2022. The exterior of the cabin is painted forest service green with red trim. The colors blend beautifully with the surrounding trees. Once inside the cabin, the living, dining, and kitchen areas are open concept. Solid hickory hardwood floors extend through the main living areas. A gas woodstove warms the cabin. A large screen t.v. as well as games and books are sure to keep guests entertained. There are multiple skylights in the living area, kitchen and bathrooms. All windows are new dual pane windows. In addition to the gas fireplace there is central heating and airconditioning downstairs. Baseboard heaters in the upstairs bedrooms keep the rooms warm on winter nights. In the summer months there is a portable air conditioner keeping the upstairs cool.
The downstairs bedroom is carpeted and has a queen bed with an attached full bath and a slider to the deck. There are two carpeted bedrooms upstairs, one with a queen bed, one with two twins. The two bedrooms upstairs share a hallway full bath with a shower over tub. No need to bring your own linens, sheets and towels including are provided for guests and included in the cleaning fee.
The outdoor wrap around deck is the perfect place for a morning cup of coffee or an afternoon cocktail. A gas grill is available for all your grilling needs. A picnic table on the deck provides a wonderful place for outdoor meals. Andirondack chairs and a rocking chair complete the picture.
A 5 minute walk up the hill brings you to the trail to a "secret" entrance into Big Trees State Park. The trail is perfect for hiking in the summer, and when mother nature provides, snowshoeing and cross country skiing in the winter.
Best of all there is a sledding hill on the property right outside the cabin. Come enjoy fresh air, solitude and all the amenities the community has to offer. Woodhaven cabin is the perfect romantic getaway cabin for 2 or a family vacation. We look forward to welcoming you to Woodhaven cabin.

What a wonderful experience overall! such an amazing cabin, location, host and more! Everything we needed was supplied and clean. The perfect vacation cabin

This is a very special and lovely vacation cabin. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need. The home has lots of wonderful touches and the owner was a great communicator and very thoughtful. The location is great for snow play in the winter. We look forward to returning in the spring to enjoy Big Trees State Park for hiking and outdoor adventure. It’s a perfect home for a family vacation

Third Times a Charm

This was our third stay at this great little cabin. We enjoyed the comfortable layout and updated amenities. The host is so informative and gives lots of great info about the cabin and surrounding area. The cabin is well stocked and so clean! Thanks again for a wonderful weekend!

Perfect, no fuss weekend

Stayed here for a long weekend. So easy! The place was very clean, well stocked and accommodating. Easy to get to and have short day hikes, exploring the area or just staying put. Pro tip: If you drive an EV, recommend you don’t arrive on a very low battery. It’s about 30 miles to the nearest charger. Would definitely recommend this host and would absolutely stay again.

Can’t wait to return

Easy check in/out! Lori was very helpful and easy to communicate with. We loved the amenities at the Big Trees Rec Center. The house was clean and had everything we needed. Our only recommendation might be a new mattress in the downstairs bedroom, but we can’t wait to return next time. Thank you for sharing Woodhaven with us!

Great cabin

Stayed for four nights in mid June. Had a great time. Short drive to Calaveras Big Trees, restaurants in Arnold and Big Bear. Plenty of room with three bedrooms and two baths. Kitchen was well setup. We would stay here again next time we’re in the area.

Woodhaven Cabin

This our second trip to Woodhaven Cabin. It is very comfortable and quiet. We enjoyed the spring weather and the proximity to Calaveras Big Trees State Park and Murphys.

Nice cabin in a convenient location

This cabin was conveniently located next to Big Trees State Park and was about 30-45 minutes from Bear Valley. It had all of the things that we needed and was very comfortable. The upstairs is nicely tucked away from the rest of the house so two kids and parents can stay up there pretty privately. The master bedroom is downstairs with a big bathroom. There are a lot of board games which were fun to explore. The kitchen was well stocked with pans and utensils. Bring all the food you need and you can comfortably cook and eat there. We enjoyed our stay very much. Thanks.

Great Weekend

Woodhaven is a wonderful cabin with updates everywhere. The quiet location near Calaveras Big Trees, Arnold, and Lake Alpine is perfect for relaxed explanation.

Relaxing retreat in the woods

This place was amazing! It was very clean and well decorated and had everything we needed for a relaxing girls weekend away from the kids. It was close enough to town if you needed anything, but nestled in the woods so it felt secluded and private. The home owner was a delight to work with. Would love to return :)

AWESOME Cabin!

The cabin was absolutely LOVELY! It was so beautifully decorated with a woodsy theme and was clean & inviting:) The back deck was great, too ... we sat out there every morning to have our coffee and returned there each evening; it was such a beautiful & relaxing environment! Our communication with the owners was great, too; Lori & Dennis were a joy to work with! We will DEFINITELY return to this cabin again and look forward to making more memories:)

Peace and quiet

We were looking to get away from all the loud fireworks in our area. We were so happy to find this home, so peaceful and surrounded by lovely trees. My parents drank their coffee on the spacious back patio every morning. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots/pans/dishes which was great since we cooked all our meals here. The whole house looks like it was recently remodeled as everything seemed so new and modern. Calaveras Big Trees state park entrance is just a few minutes away. We will definitely stay here again!!! One caveat: if you have T-Mobile or MetroPCS there is no cell service in this area, you will only have their wifi to connect to for email access at the home only.

Relaxing retreat

We didn’t want to leave! My family of 3 had a wonderful time at this cozy, clean, beautiful cabin. It really has everything you could want. We played games and did art at the well lit dining table, watched movies in the cozy living room area, loved the spacious kitchen, and rested well in the beautiful bedrooms. The quiet deck overlooking the woods was fantastic. I could imagine just hunkering down at the cabin, but we did spend lots of time visiting the local attractions, including White Pines Lake, Sourgrass day use area along the Stanislaus river, Big Trees, Murphy’s, and Columbia. It’s such a great area to explore! Don’t miss the Camp Connell store just up the road for day trip sandwiches and snacks. The hosts are attentive and easy to communicate with. I’m already planning our next stay! You won’t be sorry you booked this awesome cabin.

Perfect Weekend

This darling cabin is the perfect place to get away and connect. Very open and light. We enjoyed cooking in the very well stocked kitchen, sitting in the sun on the deck and playing games at the picnic and kitchen tables. Great communication and very clear directions for the use of the cabin. I would return to the cabin and recommend it to my friends!

Big Trees Weekend

We were extremely happy with this cabin rental and will be using it again. It was just remodeled and has three comfortable bedrooms and large bathrooms. The living room seats seven and has games, books and a large TV. Central heating is a bonus and the gas stove adds charm. The new stainless steel/gas kitchen has plenty of room for multiple cooks and has sharp knives and enough plates to feed an army. There was plenty of hot water for five of us (including two grubby little boys). The gas BBQ, heater and gas stove are easy to operate. The host is responsive and the setting is beautiful and quiet. The deck is large and wraps around to the driveway. Beautiful traditional mountain cabin decor too.

Perfect Accommodations

This cabin provided everything our family needed for a spring skiing getaway. Lori provided detailed information before heading up and great tips about where to visit while we were there even though we had visited the area several times before! The cabin is clean and the kitchen is well stocked. We enjoyed the provided board games by the fireplace and just relaxing on the back deck. The location is great to get to Bear Valley and Lake Alpine and has walk/in access to Calaveras Big Trees Park. A fantastic cabin - the pictures do not do it justice!

Perfect stay for young family snow trip

This was our favorite VRBO to date. Lori was so easy to communicate with and this rental could not have been better for our trip. The furnishings are beautiful and the layout was perfect for our family - grandparents stayed in the room downstairs and had their own space while we stayed upstairs with our infant and three year old. We went up the road a bit for some snow play and sledding at Spicer Sno Park and walked the North Grove loop in Calveras Big Trees State Park. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the fireplace was a favorite. I would definitely recommend this and we plan to come back.

I am a life long educator. I camped, skied, and explored the Big Trees/Ebbetts Pass area with my family as a child. When it came time to look for a cabin in the sierras I knew exactly where I would look. After seeing many cabins I fell in love with the cabin in Big Trees Village. I especially appreciate the privacy my one acre property provides as well as the solitude Big Trees Development supports. I live in the Sierra foothills near Auburn and love to hike, ride horses, camp, and backpack. I hope you will enjoy my cabin as much as I do!

I love the quiet atmosphere, and the nearness of a state park entrance 5 minutes away. I especially appreciate the privacy the 1 acre forested lot provides. Loved the potential to renovate a charming cabin with great bones.
