This is pure Michigan at it's finest.
There aren't enough good things to say about Greg and Kim's property. We have been vacationing on Lake Michigan for nearly 25 years, and this was one of our favorite trips.
The cottage is how Michigan used to be--pure and built to seemlessly for families to join comfort with nature. I would say that 6 adults/children can quite comfortably stay here. I am a mother of boys, and have some big boys--6' and over. They are also at an age where they can be impressed by big, expensive houses that boast more on quantity of space versus quality of living. And every single one of my boys/men thoroughly enjoyed themselves. It was the best vacation together we have had in a long time--and I credit it to the beautiful and relaxed feel of the cottage and land.
Greg and Lisa have outfitted the interior cottage perfectly--cozy cottage couches and chairs for lounging. Big dining table for games and meals. Even the galley style kitchen efficiently used the space so that we could cook every day and not feel cramped. Beds were all very comfortable--every single one of us slept well.
Then there's the outside space! To get to the cottage, you first go down this long driveway through Michigan woods--magic. When you arrive at the cottage and walk around to the outside deck, which is incredible and has a most magnificent view of the lake--multiple spaces for lounging, eating, sipping coffee in the morning. A lawn for games. There is a fire pit we used many evenings there to watch the sun set.
The waters have washed away their stairs to the beach, but they rebuilt together with their neighbors (lovely people!)--sturdy, safe stairs that lead down to the beach. We took our kayaks, paddle boards, chairs, etc., down on the first day and simply set up camp. All week long, we were able to enjoy the beach and the waters in almost total privacy. Sand bars allowed for all of our boys--6 years to 21 years to have a fabulous time for hours.
The location of the cottage on the coast is also perfect, in my mind. 5 minutes south of Saugatuck, 15 minutes north of South Haven. Explored both areas--had some delicious meals out, shopping, fishing, etc. Then, we could retreat to the serenity and quiet of the cottage.
There simply is something quite magical about this place. My husband works in the ER--it's been a tough few years with Covid. It's the first time I have seem him truly relax and breathe deeply. Grateful in every way for this gem!
