Cozy with spectacular views, easy access to I-64, and each end of the NRGNP
Built in 1902 this 3 bedroom 1 bath cozy little gem overlooks the river in a panoramic fashion. It's sits on top of the hill just above the river, on a dead end street, but still only moments from I-64. It's in the perfect location to see any end of the New River Gorge National Park, is hidden in plain sight, and is located just outside the park boundaries. The house is a little crooked but very charming. It has plenty of utensils, cast iron skillets, and spices to cook or grill, best well water around, black out shades, wifi, games, large yard, covered porch overlooking the river, and many more… also new I started to build a trail that leads into the woods behind the property but they aren’t completely done however you may explore around hill behind you and the surrounding fields and don’t forget to look at all the fossils everywhere. You will enjoy waking up and seeing the river before your feet even hit the floor, having your coffee on the porch in the mornings, watching eagles and other birds, deer, and the abundance of other wildlife in our park, also playing and exploring with your family. Pets are welcome and will enjoy lots of space to play. I provide puppy towels and a pooper scooper. The yard is also now fenced in and the large front porch has a gate so your furry friend has options for going outside to lay in the sun. It really is a hidden gem. Some guest services available.

Once booked, I had nothing but great communication with Karen the owner. She left a lovely note about the history of the home and how it has been in her family since it was built. It was built in 1902 and is an older home, but it gives a great feeling of what it is to live in the hills of West Virginia. Her Mom welcomed us and visited to make sure we had everything we needed. Such a lovely woman and a veteran made our visit even more special. If you want to stay in something modern, this would not be a great option for you. However, if you love history and old fashion way of living, this is a great place to stay. You can not go wrong with the Karen or her mom Gwen. Thank you for the wonderful memories.

Disappointing
Rental wasn’t ready. Booked over a month in advance. Waited a half hour in the rain while she carried garbage out after driving 6 hours in the pouring rain She put a quilt on the driveway so we wouldn’t get a flat tire We arrived well after check in time Bugs in house after dark- because heavy duty extension cord running out the window to her “tiny house wouldn’t allow window to close NO privacy. Porch looks directly at her house with tons of construction debris. Fenced yard is basically a dog run with patio furniture and a grill. Cushions were soaking wet Two small kittens were either under the car, trying to get in the house or crying at the window driving our dog insane. Her clothes including underwear were in the dryer. A pair of leggings found stuffed in the couch. Drawers removed from dresser. She said she just uses it as shelves Train crossing directly below so loud whistles until 10 or 11 at night
Pluses- great location off of I-64 if you don’t mind constant freeway road noise
Allows dogs
Well water doesn’t smell
Really beautiful setting surrounded by mountains

My first experience with VRBO was not a positive one.
Comfortable, cozy and peaceful. I was able to sleep soundly, which is usually a problem when away from home. We enjoyed the views around the property, the night sky and the wildlife. It was nice hearing the rapids from the river and the passing trains. Karen was approachable, easy to talk to and accommodating. Thanks! Beautiful area!
Honestly, the high point of our one night stay was a vcr with Saving Private Ryan. Cozy place, great king size bed! Karen is friendly and answered all our questions.
Slept like I haven't in a very long time. Wonderful bed! Great feel to this place. Very relaxing! Lots of fun things to do in the area. Karen was very accommodating and very friendly along with Maisey. We look forward to coming back! Thank you Karen and Maisey! Elizabeth and Mark
Our stay was awesome on the cozy cliff. Karen is an excellent host as well as Maisy (cute resident doggo). The disco shower was fun and the house had all the amenities we would need and more. Definitely would recommend a stay here, the art work alone is super cool. Thank you!
Karen was so wonderful to book with. She was so incredibly friendly and extremely responsive to any and everything. We loved this cozy little house. Saw deer in the backyard one morning and sat under the stars with the fire one night. The night sky is incredible. The best part was Karen allowed us to bring our 3 dogs and they had so much fun exploring the New River Gorge area. We loved getting to meet Maisy too. The friendliest dog around! We’ll definitely plan to come back here.
We really enjoyed the stay in this comfortable little house. The location is great for us to explore the nearby parks. Karen was very friendly and helpful. Thanks a lot for the hospitality!
This is the most at-home place ever! I can’t say enough about this host-she’s more than accommodating, prompt with replies, caring, goes above and beyond all expectations to make her guests feel welcomed, comfortable, and accommodated. And, when they say you are part of their family-they mean it! The host’s momma is so precious is being just one of the many bonuses! If you didn’t get what you needed at your stay, then it’s because you didn’t ask! Love them! They are my new friends and they’ll be yours, too, once you stay there! And wait-Maisy!-the property pet, is the sweetest thing ever! There are more little surprises in store for you and your family so I won’t spoil the fun. Easter eggs all over this property!! I can’t wait to come back. Karen, Momma, and Maisy-thank you! You guys are the very best!

Very cute and cozy little place literally ON the river. Absolutely gorgeous views in all directions for a very reasonable price. Karen was super friendly and easy going. I would rent this place again in a heartbeat!
