This was a great place to spend a few days. We were visiting family and wanted to get in some water time. We brought our own kayaks and paddleboard. The dock was great and there is easy access to the water. The house was well stocked and the beds are very comfortable. Would definitely recommend!
The place was clean and ready when we arrived. Has some issues with the lights working due to the heat and need for the air conditioning to run constantly but owner got back to us and provided a remedy. Very relaxing place to stay.
We spent six nights at this fabulous house on Old Hickory Lake, and the only thing that might have made our stay better would have been another night or two (or three?).
Mike and Christy are outstanding hosts - exceptionally responsive and friendly - and their commitment to their guests really comes through. Their home is clean, comfortable, and well laid-out, with outstanding outdoor space. Just sitting in the backyard and watching the birds while having morning coffee was a delight. The super charming duck family that stays on their property was a special bonus.
Our trip wasn't only for sitting still, though. We rented their kayaks, bass boat, and jet skis during our stay, and Mike couldn't have been more helpful. The lake is beautiful and for the most part, we had it to ourselves, with only a handful of other boaters and paddlers on the water.
The house is close enough to Nashville to take advantage of the city's many offerings, but perfectly far away if you want to enjoy the best of lake life. We did both and already look forward to returning for another stay.
From start to finish, just a fantastic vacation. The photos do NOT do this place justice - it's an absolutely perfect lakehouse. Easy access for the kayaks we brought (spent almost every day on the lake) and quick access to some great food in town. And a quick drive to Nashville for that experience. :) Owner was responsive to all questions and very pleasant. We will definitely be looking to return.
Met up with family we hadn't seen in person 2+ years. The property and residence were welcoming, very well maintained.
The lake view was beautiful. We enjoyed the hot tub and fishing off of the boat dock. It was cool enough our final night there to enjoy a camp fire at a beautiful fire pit.
The weather cooperated that we were able to cook all of our meals on the deck via the use of both a flat-top grill and a green egg grill/smoker.
The residence is located at the end of a cove/bay for which the area was quite peaceful.
Recommend the master bedroom with a walk-in shower.
The owners were responsive to our inquiries.
The residence did not disappoint.
We hope to be back in the near future.
You will NOT regret your stay. The house and property are gorgeous. So many amenities and away from the busy downtown Nashville but an easy drive to get there. Mike was the best host. We had no issues buy he immediately responded to a question we had. My sisters and I came down with our Mom. We had the best time relaxing in the hot tub and paddling around in the kayaks and hanging on the massive deck and by the fire. Can't wait to go back!
Such a beautiful lake home. It was so relaxing and peaceful. We loved sitting on the back deck watching the squirrels and ducks play. Perfect setting to relax and recharge.
We thoroughly enjoyed our two nights at the backyard bungalow. We enjoyed the hot tub and the lake (we brought a SUP with us). The weather was a mix of rain and sun but we enjoyed the lovely porch with comfy couches, big tv, and fire place during the rain and took full advantage of the beautiful yard during the sun patches. The beds were comfy and the shower in the master is awesome!
This lakeside home was a perfect getaway for my wife and I. Nice and quiet. Very comfortable setting right near the lake. Neighbors were also very friendly and respectful. I will be back.
Relaxing family gathering at a beautiful lakefront property
This property was beautiful, clean, and had all the accommodations needed for a family gathering. We were able to head into Nashville for city life (about 45min - 1hr away even with traffic), and return for quiet nights in with the fire pit and hot tub. Highly recommend renting the kayaks and exploring the lake as well for daytime activity. I have already recommended this location to other family and friends and hope to return!
My family from out of town stayed for a quick weekend while visiting us nearby. The home was beautifully decorated and had everything they needed. The views of the lake from the living room, sun room, patio were just gorgeous. The beds were comfortable, the master shower was huge! The home had such a warm, welcoming, and peaceful vibe. You could sit out back for hours! Very relaxing atmosphere. 100% would recommend and absolutely plan on staying again! The owners were so friendly and easy to communicate with, quick to respond to any questions!
My 86 year old mom and I came to Backyard Bungalow for a mini vacation to visit her brother and family in Tennessee. The house is beautiful the pictures do not do it justice! Mike and Christie made us feel at home and were readily available to answer any of our questions. The beds were super comfortable and my favorite was the sun room and the comfy oversized chair and ottoman! I need a chair like this! We had two nice warm days had coffee at the outside bar, and enjoyed a glass of wine and sunshine on the deck!
My mom enjoyed not only visiting with her brother but also watching the very large flock of white pelicans swimming and feeding on the water!
Cannot wait to come back! Thanks Mike and Christie for sharing your beautiful home with us!
