Windows on Water, Stream, Hot Tub, Big Trees, Walk to Sundance
There are few resort experiences as unique as Sundance and few places that you can spend a few days that are as idyllic as this setting at Sundance. The branches of old growth firs brush the cabin’s windows. A year-round stream runs along the walls providing ambiance and natural air conditioning. It gurgles under an eating/barbecuing deck leading to an 8 person hot-tub, tucked back in the pines. Two bedrooms have private decks overlooking the stream. The cabin is airy inside with walls of windows; you feel like you’re living in the trees. The whole house has radiant heating so even on the snowiest days you can be barefoot in the forest. Curl up in front of the fireplace and watch TV or listen to music on a state-of-the-art theater sound system. In the years since we've been hosting visitors summer has become our most popular season and in 2018 we installed air conditioning in the house. We personally think the cool mountain air coming off a snowmelt stream is the best cooling system on the planet. But if you are staying inside on the handful of days each year when the temperature inside gets up to (gasp) 75, you can cool it off fast if you need to.
Cook a meal in a gourmet kitchen (2020 - we just had a new dual fuel range installed for the gourmet chefs at heart) or on our beautiful Weber BBQ when you’re not in the mood to make the short walk through the woods to the great restaurants at Sundance.
We live and work nearby and will do anything we can to help you enjoy your stay
The Unique Benefits of this House: Live music nights at Sundance's Owl Bar when the fire is blazing in the back room. Sunday Brunch at the Foundry Grill - particularly on patio days when the weather is fine. Sunrise bike rides on the mountain when you're likely to catch a moose or deer at every turn. Sunset hikes back from Stewart Falls - two miles away through a high mountain meadow. Summer movie nights at the outdoor theater. Heavy snowfall days when our road is impassable for a couple hours and the hot tub is cranking. Snowshoeing on full-moon nights when the Nordic center opens the trails at night.
Why the Owner Chose Sundance: Our family bought this home to be our home. We lived here for a magnificent decade. But when our family outgrew the house we reluctantly moved nearby and hope that vacationers will enjoy the house as much as we have.
Things About Our House that may make a difference in your decision. We try to illustrate the house well with photos and descriptions but we are always sad when a guest arrives and realizes something about the house that they don't appreciate and that we cannot change. So, these are the only things we've every had someone say they wish they had realized before they arrived: 1) You will need to navigate stairs. There are five broad stone steps descending from the parking to the front door. And you must climb at least 12 steps to get to any of the bedrooms. 2) The house is fantastic for guest parties who are very comfortable sharing space. As you can see from the photos the house is very open. That's how we offer so much light and views of the forest. We advertise the house as a 1 bedroom that sleeps 6 so you get the idea that one queen bedroom is entirely private. 1 queen loft is visually private but separated by a tapestry. The twin loft is far above the rest of the house and difficult to see into from the lower floor but it has no divider. The house is great for people who are comfortable with only being semi-private from each other.
Our Winter (December - April) Disclaimer. People always ask if they need to rent a 4WD/AWD vehicle. The answer is "Yes". Sundance is a ski resort. The roads are frequently - if not perpetually - snowy or icy in winter even with the best snow clearing. If you have a front drive vehicle with very good tires and are comfortable driving in snow you may be fine. The road to our home has two uphill climbs of about 100 yards. Not super steep. But if there's snow or ice on the road that's steep enough. And our lovely but shady canyon doesn't allow the sun to have much chance to melt the snow so our strong advice is to arrive with the best tool for the job - 4WD. Another winter factor to keep in mind; During snowstorms, Utah Highway Patrol may close the main canyon road (the only way in to the Sundance Resort) to vehicles unless they can show that they are 4WD or have installed traction devices (chains, straps, steel studs). It has only happened once that we know of but it has happened that a guest went in to town and during their trip to town a snowstorm set in and when they came back they were prohibited from entering the canyon by UHP for a couple hours. Just had to sit there in the car and watch the snow fall.

My husband and I spent 10 days at this cabin in March. We really enjoyed being able to walk to Sundance (about 10 minutes) and to drive there when we wanted to ski and park at the upper lots. The cabin itself is beautiful and accommodated the 2 of us very well. The jacuzzi was great after skiing and Dave was a great host. We had some things that we needed when first moving in and he was very quick to oblige.
The location was wonderful. The Stream flowing through the property was relaxing. The hot tub was pleasant. The bedrooms were well furnished. This was exactly what we were looking for. The owner was responsive when we had a minor issue. They even offered to come to the property and fix it for us.
We had a great weekend. The heated floors and hot tub were perfect for the winter weather. Beds weren't awesome [really hard]. But nothing that would keep us away.
This was our first time staying at a VRBO home and we traveled from Hawaii so our 6 year old could experience snow, so we definitely felt out of our element. This beautiful home made us feel instantly at ease. The process from booking to communicating with the hosts to checkin and out was as smooth as can be, and we appreciate the responsiveness of our hosts. Most of all the cabin had everything we needed to have a comfortable, memorable experience. Logging into WiFi was seamless, instructions for the house were accessible and easy to understand, we loved playing board games and enjoyed the hot tub in the snowfall near the beautiful creek, and snuggling watching movies while also watching the snow fall outside the picture window was surreal and amazing. It’s clear the hosts take a lot of care to optimize our experience but mostly just love and care for their home. Washer dryer was a huge convenience because we always fear under packing. The couches and beds were soooo warm and cozy and comfortable. I can’t say enough about how much we truly enjoyed our experience, and my daughter cannot wait to go back!
We loved our stay in Sundance. David was responsive and considerate. The house is just lovely. It's hard to truly appreciate the beauty of the property until you're sitting next to the stream. A quick two-minute drive to Sundance really helped us get to the mountain before the rush of traffic each morning.
Absolutely loved this property!! Wonderful location and was exactly as described but so much better in person!Host was gracious and easy to communicate with!Definitely plan on staying here again!
We had a nice short stay with kids and grandkids. The house is unique and we appreciated the floor heat, hot tub, and fireplace during the cold week there. The home is well-equipped and clean.

David was so helpful and responsive, both before we checked in and while we were there. I asked questions about local hiking for Saturday on Friday night and he responded kindly and promptly and with all the information and detail we needed. It was a great location for three childhood friends to meet up for a weekend from out of state to catch up with each other. Gorgeous location. Short walk to Sundance resort restaurants which were fabulous. We loved the fireplace and the hot tub as well. Thanks for a great stay!

Amazing cabin right over the stream. Hot tub and fire table were wonderful. The tree colors were bright and brilliant! Overall an amazing week in this beautiful cabin and all around Sundance.
Wow, lovely home.....outdoor patio was awesome This home is located wonderfully can walk to Sundance for dinner, music or even a Art workshop
Thank you we loved it
I was very surprised by how clean and well maintained this home is! The multiple decks/patios are surrounded by pine trees. We hiked to Stewart Falls right from the front door. We walked to Sundance resort to have meals at The Foundry Grill and the Tree Room. The sounds and breezes from the water kept us staying home most of our trip. We already re-booked for next year!
We rented this cabin while we got married and it was so cute! It was so nice to come back to after our wedding! The only complaint (which really isn’t even a big deal) is there weren’t a ton of towels. Seriously had the best time here!
The stream, the house, the views! What can I say? We had an absolutely wonderful time here. We’re so close to so many trails, parks and waterfalls. Only to come back to a beautiful home and stream next door. We slept with the balcony door open to listen to the stream. Our host was amazing and we will definitely be back. Thank you!
Spent Mother's Day weekend at the cabin and we could not be happier. The house is as advertised; clean, calming and perfect for our quick weekend away. We could walk to Sundance for dinner, sat in the hot tub mornings and nights and just enjoyed the sound of the river. We will be back without doubt.
We had such a great time, the cabin was beautiful, the sound of the river therapeutic, the location fantastic. The cabin was super clean, the amenities were perfect. The host was very responsive. Terrific weekend, we’ll go back for sure!
Everything about this place was great, we will definitely stay here again! The house is comfortable and well appointed throughout. The bed was comfortable as was the living room furniture. As wonderful as the inside is, the outside is even better! The hot tub was inviting and the perfect way to relax after a day of boarding. The grill is a nice touch. We grilled steaks while listening to the sound of the creek. And speaking of the creek, if you crack open a window or two you can enjoy its sounds inside the house as well. The neighborhood was quiet and welcoming, and we look forward to our next stay!
The cabin is amazing, the location is beautiful, and David is a perfect host. My family has stayed here more than once, and our experience has always been wonderful. This is the perfect get-away cabin, for any time of the year, and one that my family and I would love to return to again some day.
We had a great time at David's cabin. Cannot beat the setting, amidst the trees with the stream running right underneath the deck. Such a cozy place. Fully stocked and very clean. Host was a very prompt communicator. So close to Sundance Resort. We would love to come back again.

Why they chose this property
Our family bought this home to be our home because at Sundance it is entirely possible to have an incredibly unique lifestyle experience - to be able to live in a quiet alpine resort (typically an oxymoron) and still have a vibrant professional job market within 15 minutes drive (Provo/Orem).
We lived here for a magnificent decade. But when our family outgrew the house we reluctantly moved nearby and hope that vacationers will enjoy the house as much as we have.
